Thanks for the detailed review.  :classic:

The review was provided to Eurobricks for review by Lego. The opinions expressed in this review are my own and do not reflect those of The Lego Group.

Did LEGO provide the review or the set?

 that’s what I get for typing it out last minute rather than copy & pasting

LEGO expects people to spend $180 and they can't even make matching stickers? The quality sucks and I'm sick of it.

Thanks for the review!

I still wish Lego would make a decent round headlamp piece -I HATE the clear dish with the stud in the middle. Headlamps should be smooth dammit! That's the one spot that the T1 wins over this T2, (not to mention the Fiat, Porsche, Mustang, Mini, etc.).

The other thing I'm not a fan of (and that the dish with stud headlamp doesn't help) is the slight look of extropia, the opposite of being cross-eyed.

Otherwise what a nice set, hope to see the new tire show up other places too.

Thanks  for your review, it's a great job.

For me however, personal is't a YUCK.
Another volkswagen, bah TLG, why again?
Why not another great van from the past like a Citroën HY, those are also often used as camper.

I have to agree with you here. LEGO seems to be extremely happy with Volkswagen AG. We now have three Beetles (10252, 10187, 40252, not to mention the huge amount of beetles in the H0 era, such as for 1261, 260, 810, etc.), three camper vans (10220, 40079, 10279, not to mention all of the H0 version) and all of the flagship Technic cars (Porsche 911, Bugatti Chiron and Lamborghini Sian) are from Volkswagen AG. I know that Volkswagen is highly loved in Denmark, but not every LEGO fan is also a Volkswagen fan (especially after 2015!). If I were a French LEGO enthusiast who was not good at creating MOCs (and didn't know about Rebrickable), then I would be sad to not see any iconic French vehicles, such as the DS or the Type H that you mention.

The shape of the T2 seems to be very well recreated in the set - although I am not too happy with how the bodywork flares out at the bottom of the rear window. Also. It would have been nice to see the doors extend down like on the real vehicle.

The popularity in Denmark is probably one factor but another that isn't insignificant is that Volkswagen (despite being a German brand) is extremely iconic not just in Europe but also in the large American market (and by extension, in anywhere American TV and movies are exported to). By comparison a brand like Citroën is much, much less of a household name here—which is a shame because I'd love to see a 2CV model that I could build or modify into the iconic "Laytonmobile" from the Professor Layton series of video games.

Reviewers take note, this is a proper review and the kind I enjoy most, thanks for that. Although this set is not for me, I thoroughly enjoyed the review. I do however consider this a great set and it looks to be a fun build experience.

The same VAG that was just caught AGAIN last week with the next diesel emmission fraud while they're still paying the fines for the previous.
Whilst LEGO ended coöperation with Shell because of the Northpole drillings they buy a licence from VAG ??
The same LEGO that has such strong principles that they pull back the Osprey?
Really LEGO?

That feels a bit weird indeed, but let's not derail this review topic.

Just my thought Jim, and I'm probably not the only one.

That's great to hear. Thanks. On behalf of my fellow reviewer hehe

This is a great review but I absolutely disagree with the rating for the design. I think this van looks awful and nothing like the van it's based on. Although the building techniques are fun there's also nothing particularly better about this van apart from a sliding door and some added steering functionality. Considering just how much bigger this one is you'd think they'd get closer to the original design but this doesn't seem to be the case. It's a real shame because when you're trying to recreate something you should either do it very well or not do it at all and I feel the end product is average at best. It's a great van, but a great VW van? Nah...

I think I'll have to pass, it sadly. I would like to get it tho.

I wish for enough cash to buy a house = hopefully no close neighbours that wreck sleep 24/7, etc.

/edit:

13th July seems like a long time ago.

Yeh, they're really really bad.

I wish they had made them transparent.
