Dammtuss Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Hi! I've always had a military interest, so when I recently started building and designing with Lego again after a few years break it was natural for me to want to build the Gripen which I think is one of the most good-looking aircrafts there is (apart from also being a formidable fighter). The model is built in the scale of one stud equals one meter (1:125 scale). The aircraft itself consists of 88 pieces, not including any weapons. Given the small scale, I’m very pleased with the overall shape and design. Just as the real Gripen, the model can carry a variety of weapons. The model also features attachable/detachable landing gear, and a very high degree of ”swooshability”. The Saab JAS 39 Gripen (English: griffin) is a light-weight single-engine multirole fighter aircraft manufactured by Saab and currently in service with the Swedish, Brazilian, Czech, Hungarian, South African and Royal Thai air forces. The Gripen has a delta wing and canard configuration and measures 15.2 meters in length with a wingspan of 8.6 meters. The newest version, Gripen E, has ten hardpoints on which it can carry a variety of weapons and sensors. This latest version also features a more powerful engine, enabling it to reach speeds of Mach 2 and making it capable of supercruise. Landing gear retracted (detached). Landing gear deployed (attached). - "Fyr!" (english: fire) If you would like to see more images of these models, or have a look on some of my other work, please check out my Instagram or Flickr. Sincerely, Dammtuss (a.k.a. Björnbrorsan) Quote
ParmBrick Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Cool! Very detailed, despite the small size, the miniature arsenal you made is also excellent. I'm curious to see more of your creations along the same lines in the future, including land and sea vehicles. Quote

I'm currently working on a SU-35 as so that my Gripen will have something to shoot at. As I'm really enjoying building at this scale, I will most likely do more fighters in this scale. Although not in the same scale, I have done quite a few warships in the past (including a ten feet minifig scale frigate). If I manage to dig up some old images I might upload them to my Instagram and Flickr. But I would certainly like to give a warship at this scale a go – I would love to build the Visby class corvette, but I'll admit that her angles seem terrifyingly difficult to try and replicate. Dammtuss Posted August 11, 2021 Author Posted August 11, 2021 Hi! I'd thought I'd share some more of my military aircrafts in this scale (1:125). Second out is the russian SU-35S. The Sukhoi SU-35S (NATO reporting name Flanker E) is a twin-engine supermaneuverable multi-role/air superiority fighter designed by Sukhoi Design Bureau. It’s operated by the Russian, Chinese and Egyptian air forces and first entered operational service with the Russian Air Force in 2014. The SU-35S measures 21.9m in length and has a wingspan of 15.3m. It has a top speed of Mach 2.25, is capable of supercruise and has a total of twelve hardpoints on which it can carry a variety of weapons. The model consists of 169 pieces, not including any weapons. I’m fairly pleased with the overall shape and design, and I personally quite like the look of the blue camouflage. As previously, if you'd like to see more there are additioonal photos on my Instagram and on my Flickr. Quote
Feuer Zug Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 Way to go. Capturing these fighters at this scale is hard, but you've done it well. I like the colors on the Flanker too. Quote
