This is my first ever set. Wolfpack renegades, i really love it because it has many weapons and a treasure chest and a horse. My dad bought it at Legoland windsor in the UK when I was about 4, it was my first trip to Legoland :cry_happy: I didn't know he had bought it and then the next day after the trip it was on my bed. He still won't say that he bought it but im pretty sure he did :look:

What a coincidence! This was my first Castle set ever as well! I remember opening it in the back of a car, and then all the pieces just scattered, of course. I don't think I was even in school yet back then... I also got the Wolfpack castle/bridge later on. Still love those guys, they remind me of Ewoks.

My first new Castle set was the Knight's Catapult Defense, which I got for Valentine's Day this year from my beloved boyfriend. After that, I've been buying the sets myself, although the latest one, Troll Warship, was bought by my boyfriend again. I'm so going to turn that into a fortress ship (if you get the reference)!

Well, it would be good for a dragon worshipping temple. Or a city from the Dragon Masters Kingdom. Or a castle such as Dragons Keep. Or perhaps even one of my dream builds, a special city populated by dragons! You know humans aren't the only people that build things.

I'm sure I could come up with some uses for it.

Well... Actually, today I built this battle scene with Dragon Masters in it, I'll get it up soon.

Talking about Dragons and that sort of stuff, check out Looking For Group Comic, it has Dragons in it and it is Fantasy..

It's also hilarious, my Favorite character is Richard, you'll see if you read like the first 2 pages.

If I find a Fire-Breathing Fortress on ebay, I'll PM you. :classic:

I think mine was 6009 or the minifig pack with 2 forestmen, 2 black falcons, 1 crusader and 1 peasant with a pitchfork.

Not totally sure thought, can't believe some of you can remember allmost everything  .

I'm quite certain it was 6074 Black Falcon's Fortress, a great set

6074-1.jpg

which I bought for the money I got for my birthday in what I think was 1988, though it may have been one year later.

That's pretty much what I mean. I think kids grow up to be more creative when they make up their own stories, and that's easier if you don't pre-define who is good and who is bad.

The low point of that was we had all those specific knights in crazy coloured armour showing up in set after set. The current line is definitely an improvement on that, I just wish it was possible to represent 2 factions that aren't so clearly defined.

It's a minor rant, and certainly shouldn't detract from the improvements of the current line, which I am thrilled with.

I still love that set. I really need to rebuild it after all these years.

That's funny. I just rebuilt it last fall. It is now inhabited by trolls.

Oh, how I still love the red dragon that came with that set.

Oh, how I still love the black dragon that came with this set, 10 years earlier. That was one of my first castle sets, from my favourite castle subtheme, but I think my first must have been the appropriately named Royal King set. :sweet:

It's sad that no one can appreciate the KK1 for what it was: a nice, often mislooked castle theme.

I can appreciate it, the theme had such a great selection of parts, and the sets were well designed generally, they're designed like a cross between Fright Knights (with Royal Knight emblems) and '07 Castle, I think.

This set :look:

ninja.jpg

It was so good back in the time although I don't remember England getting any other coloured ninjas but grey and black.

I also got just the leader of the good ninjas on a horse afterwards, along with a treasure cart, loads of warriors together

and also a small 'good' samurai temple.

Hi

My first Castle set was 6067 The Town. Seems like an awful long time ago now that I got it - 1986 or 1987 I think?

6067-01.jpg

And I've still got it. This was where it ended up in a recent Town build I had setup:

Neat thread. I must have missed this one.

My first castle (and one of my all-time favorite sets), is none other than the Yellow Castle.

I've kept it in an old shoe box all these years, although the stickers and pieces still got pretty worn. I restored it (washing each piece) a few years ago for this picture review:

Yellow Castle #375

A few of the knights with fresh new stickers (thanks to Classic Castle.com):

It's great to see all the excellent First Castle Sets.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: I recall sharing a personal account of the yellow castle a few years ago, that I just had to dig it out after remembering this great set:

The year is 1980. During a summer vacation in Germany, a happy Lego city collecting child receives his first Lego Castle, the Legendary Yellow Castle! Later, from another continent and vast sea away, he takes the following photograph of his collection with his favorite set being the highlight of the city:

yellowcastle1.jpg 1980

The Dark Ages of Lego has lasted 21 years. Out of a dusty "Fragile" box, the aging yellow pieces are constructed once again as a tribute to the Days of Yore. The Legendary Yellow Castle once again stands proud in the center of a booming Lego metropolis. Pirates and Adventurers have come to see the mightly yellow fortress!

yellowcastle2.jpg 2001

During the last holiday season before leaving a long-lived-in home, the pieces to the Yellow Castle are once again constructed, this time cleaned for an image review for other Classic Castle fans to appreciate. Its aging yellow bricks are carefully disassembled for a move that will last several months.

yellowcastle3.jpg 2005

And now, resting quietly in a dark but safe place with yellowed instructions and five green baseplates, a pile of yellow bricks awaits reconstruction, perhaps one day to be shared among a Lego community, its well-loved memory not forgotten.

A personal story of a favorite Lego set,

The Legendary Classic Yellow Castle

I recently built the old yellow girl using LDD. Although the end result is a bit monochrome I still think it looks pretty good. LDD puts the price at GBP61.00 so not cheap but there is a lot of bricks in it!

I'm struggling hard to make my memory tell my what my first castle set was; I have no clue at all! It must've been a set of the 1980s though. Maybe it was 6103 Castle Mini Figures, but I am not sure. I don't have this set any more. I think it was in my early or mid-teens when I sold it to a friend. Now it makes me megablocking angry when I think of having sold it! The farmer in it was such an amazing minifig. I remember having a second copy of set 6103, but I lost nearly all the minifigs of it, including the farmer. :cry_sad: I'm wondering what happened to them...

7091. Still playing with it. :cry_happy:

Same here!

Very cool thread.

Likewise DK, my girlfriend suprised me with the Knight's Catapult Defense last night and I can say that I am most definitely hooked on the Castle theme!

So hooked that I went out and bought the Tower Raid set tonight. I never thought LEGOs could be this addictive.

6030 Catapult, 1984:

6030-1.jpg

It's a nicely brick-built mechanism and a good size, unlike some of the warbeasts produced in more recent years. This was also before every castle set had a compulsory catapult built-in!

Funny how people have complained that Technic has invaded System sets in recent years, when the whole base and wheel section of this baby is Technic-based.

After being a Space and Town guy only, I received this brand new about a year after it was released. Still a favorite.

6071-1.jpg

I'm still mad that I never got 6071. That forest woman is a such a fantastic (and rare) mini-figure!

I needed to check to be sure, since I have written all the dates when receiving a lego set, I didnt need to recall myself. It was either Black Falcon or the Blacksmith from that time... The result of my search in my historical library is:

6074-1.1121308279.jpg

It was for years later that I realized how fortunate I was my parents bought me this set, since it is still one of my favorites

I got set 6077 way back in 1981 when i was a 6 year old....little did i know that my forces would grow to about 2000 now
