[throws up]

Why not? His accessories are incredible. I've also met him IRL and trustworthy is probably the first word I would use to describe him. It's not like he's coming here and promoting megablocks. It seems you are the one posting the megablocks pictures after all. I'm not crazy about the use of Megablocks pieces either, but trying to get other people not to trust Brickforge is reactionary and unnecessary, in my opinion. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but if you don't want to buy his stuff because he dressed up a couple of Megablocks figs, then it's your loss, because you're missing out on some incredible stuff:

Yeah, I saw those! That gladiator is just about the coolest custom figure I've ever seen!

I don't even like Halo, but your Space Marine is so awesome, I plan on getting one too! Your work is fantastic, great job!

So what?

If a Megablocks figure is used, big deal. These are not only accessories for LEGO figures, but for many brick action figures.

And for the record, I trust them completely. These accessories are everything we have always wanted, and LEGO has not bothered to make them.

But, if you want to be judgemental, I guess you are entitled to your opinions!

By the way Armothe, everything looks great, and everything is holding up great. As soon as I get some of those space marine armor sets painted, I'll send you some photos!

Loving those pictures, I can't wait till they show them on the shop.

Well, I registered, and then was told that I no longer had an account (hmm, where did that go... *scratches head* ), so I re-registered and filled out a nice order with all the new stuff in it. All ready to do my review! :sweet: Only problem is, accordingly, they can't ship to my location. :hmpf_bad: I'm sure they haven't had any trouble in the past, I've been receiving my packages fine. Help me Armothe! :sing: Never mind, all sorted now, there are some options appearing. I don't like the price of he new shipping though. :sceptic: Oh well, the parts make up for it. I look forward to getting them! :sweet:

Man, I should have goon to BrickWorld, then I wouldn't have to worry about this ordering business. To bad I don't live nearby... :look::tongue:

Oh, another question, does the Arabian Helmet require the turban to be attached to a head, or can it still go on a minifig without?

Right, once I've got the parts, I need to go on Bricklink and figure out how to make some Romans. Man this is an expensive hobby! But so worth it!

first of all, I appreciate the work you guys do for the community, offering custom pieces. :classic:

The "space marine" looks great, but I've only seen some pics and videos of halo, haven't played the games or anything. (the style reminds me of Arealights' work actually) Are the visors seperate parts?

The Egyptian sword (Kopesh? can't scroll down here  ) looks amazing.

The Thracian helmet looks great, love the mask.

The Gladius looks nice, perhaps just a tad to big (several types of course, but generally a very short sword).

The scutum looks... nothing like the "scutum" Roman legionnaires used in the 1st-2nd Century AD. It doesn't feature the iron knot, and most of all: it isn't curved. That was the great thing about them, as they provided more cover and strength. This custom is a flat version of the scutum, and can of course be used for other purposes, but in my eyes doesn't do it as a scutum.

The Attic helmet: I need to see a side and back shot in order to comment it accurately.

The Roman Imperial Gallic/Itallic helmet: I'd have to see it in person. The cheek guards look very heavy and big, but the details look good... Seeing it in person or having various side and back pics will perhaps change my view on it.

The pilum: I already mentioned it when I saw the prototype drawings... It's too big. The iron shaft is way too lang (almost as long as the wooden part?)

Overall, I feel that some of your parts are a bit oversized, making them look heavy and big. (StG44, Attic helmet,...) I do appreciate your work, as this is a very small scal to work on. How smaller something gets, less details have to be added (like miniatures etc.) but with minifigs the same amount of detail is required, putting a hard pressure on you customers.

I love your new items! Good work. I think I'll order something soon, allthough I'm a purist: these parts are awesome.

The visors are seperate as we wanted to allow customizers to swap different colored visors on different colored helmets. RedBean actually designed this piece and I've often thought their styles are fairly similar (which is why I personally admire both).

The Gladius looks nice, perhaps just a tad to big (several types of course, but generally a very short sword). The pilum: I already mentioned it when I saw the prototype drawings... It's too big. The iron shaft is way too lang (almost as long as the wooden part?)

Keep in mind that the proportion of a standard minifig is not reflective of an actual person. As a result all of our accessories will reflect the same proportion as official elements which are also slightly-larger scale. Even though the Gladius is considered a Shortsowrd you'll find it to be smaller than a LEGO Shortsword. Shortsword length ranges anywhere from 30-45 inches whereas the Gladius is often 25-31 inches so we feel there is a bit of leniency here.

Historical Pilums were usually around 2 meters (6.56 feet) high and given the 'short' stature of the minifig in comparison we felt there was a lot of wiggle room. Also, the Pilum was traditionally grasped at the joint-block or counterweight - which a minifig can't really grasp - thus we had to place these elements towards the upper portion of the spear lending to its length. The iron head was indeed exaggerated by us, but only because we wanted to construct an iconic weapon. The alternative would have been to cut the length of the shaft in half and reduce the flare of the tip resulting in what we thought would have been an incomplete piece.

There were several styles of roman shields over its 1000 yr history, including several that were fairly flat and more rounded. Our tooling prevented us from making anything that would encompass a minifig 180 degrees so we opted for a smaller, rounded and flatter shield. You won't see a center boss because we encourage using decals to turn the piece into anything you want. An iron knot would have made such customization more difficult.

The Roman Imperial Gallic/Itallic helmet: I'd have to see it in person. The cheek guards look very heavy and big, but the details look good... Seeing it in person or having various side and back pics will perhaps change my view on it.

The face guards were more or less a nod to the official DragonMaster's helmet which we always thought would be the defacto Roman helmet if there was to ever be an official theme.

We really aren't out to construct exact mini-scale replicas of popular historical items. We want these items to be recognizable and playable so I'm not ashamed to say that some artistic licensing does take place at BrickForge. We appreciate the critique!

I also wanted to point out that we still have not officially launched our new store, although it is possible to place an order (we will ship the items you order). This is due to a few technical ducks we want to get in a row before we fully announce its availablility. In otherwords, order at your own risk until we are ready to launch in the next day or so.

Gah, he bet me to the post! :sing: Ah well, I'll go have a good read, mine are still on their way...

EDIT: Am I rude or what! Forgetting to say thank you, very silly of me. :hmpf:

Thanks SW4J for the review, it is great!

We're happy to let you advertise your site... but lately all you have been doing is that. :sceptic: On your own site you have a rule that Writing of threads/posts solely dedicated to "come and visit my site!" is not to be tolerated. We have a similar one; "Please don't use Eurobricks as a billboard." Please keep this in mind.

And yet "come and visit my site" wasn't posted anywhere. I simply posted the review of the items for the benefit of your members. No where did I mention joining, or even viewing other topics. As you also may have noticed on our site, we gladly let people link back to their own. If I just made posts of "please come to my site", you'd have a point, but as you can clearly see that is not the point of my post, now is it? Please keep that in mind too. Of course I will take your advice seeing as how you're on staff here, however I would have hoped you'd see the difference between spamming a site and providing content to YOUR userbase. Not to mention the only time I advertised was at the permission of your own staff...Oh well, so much for being friendly I guess?

Sure it was. You did a one sentence post with a link and nothing else. If you said your opinion and then added a link you might have a point, but what you posted is purely promotion. Your post before about "Twilight" was a bit better as it included a picture, but the link was still there.

We agreed to let you mention the site out of kindness, and you are abusing that offer. We never said "Feel free to promote your site with every post.". As a reminder, what Hinckley said was;

Make sure and announce it here when it's ready please. Some EBers are really jonesing for some TIE Army. :classic:

It's been announced, and it's in your signature. Yet you aren't happy with that. Don't try making out that we are the meanies here.

My opinion was in the review, Sinner. If you wanted me to copy and paste the entire thing that would've been a bit much, don't you think? I simply let your users know that there was a review up. That isn't a promotion or spam. As for the Twilight picture, people often link to places where new pictures are available first. I did the same. Yes, it was to my forum, but that's how I knew about it so fast.

.

Abusing? I did exactly what Hinckley said (as you quoted) which was make a topic when it was first launched. Since then have I spammed the site? No, I mentioned it once to donate a picture to you, and then a second time to donate a review to you guys. But please, have it your way, I by no means had to give either of them to you, and in the future I'll just have to remember that should I have anything else that might interest you guys.

Wait, wait, since when can't someone advertise in their signature? Lots of members do that. Do you chastise them, or would this happen to be for another reason? Hmm... :hmpf:

Let's look at what you're upset about. I made a topic that I was told I was allowed to do. I posted a picture which I got from another site which happens here every day. I posted a link to a review which also happens quite regularly. Three things that were spaced apart and hardly in excess. If you're so bothered by mention of the site, I have no idea why you joined up in the first place, however I'll be sure to take the cue that it's not to be mentioned here next time I have an image or a review, trust me.

Now let's drop it before the topic gets too far away from it's aim, shall we? This is supposed to be about Armothe's fantastic new products, not some petty squabbling.

On another note, Armothe do you have any plans for ever making the Space Marine Armor (aka MJOLNIR Armor) available in purple?

I'm glad you did and I hope people are having a good time with the new TIE Army. A lot of people missed that and it didn't feel right continuing a tradition that belonged to you and your friends. Contributions are nice, but what would be nicer is if you and the staff at BrickHorizon won't delete any more of your Eurobricks contributions. We are missing several of your contributions that were either deleted or pictures removed from Brickshelf. While I'm glad to see you still wish to contribute to EB, I hope you won't continue to delete your past contributions any more.

Back to Armothe's stuff! Great stuff, isn't it? Those Space Marines are some of the most ingenious custom accessories I've seen for mini-figs. I bought a bunch of them in black and I keep them right by my computer while I decide what sort of badass space MOC to make for them! Play On! :classic:

Assuming we can master the color-match we will be producing the Space Marine Armor in 15-20 colors - purple being one of them.
