brimbolet Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 Has the forest spirit an upside down acorn on his head or is it a fur hat, that can be used in a historical setting? The bard is a great surprise and I'm happy to collect more animals, though the warrior is disappointing. Somehow the white fur looks too bright/too clean... The packaging (blue background) itself doesn't go well with the figures IMO. Not a brilliant series on the whole but I like most of them. Quote
Gorilla94 Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 Well... I am glad I stopped collecting whole serieses after series 20. I adore the racoon girl and Bard. I still prefer the Brickwarriors mould for the lute but the Lego version is pretty, too. I need those. Thanks to the horse, medium legs and the shirt with arm printing I will get one and give the creepy face to somebody, too. The Tucan will be bricklinked. Even if he costs 3,50€ it is still a better deal than to pay anything extra for the boring figure... The dark elves legs, dark green medium legs, skaters hair and snow warriors outfit could be tempting if they are cheaply available in bricklink, when I am already ordering in a store... I dont want the rest for free. :/ Quote
Brickity Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 (edited) Not feeling these, very bland overall and the polybag picture doesn’t help. This one next to series 19 looks very “toddler-like” and minimalistic. Edited November 14, 2021 by Otherworld Quote

I think it is. And that would firmly place it in the neither/both male or female category 😜🐌 1 hour ago, brimbolet said: Has the forest spirit an upside down acorn on his head or is it a fur hat, that can be used in a historical setting? Looks like the cloak is also shaped like an oak leaf And I think leaks often have weird colour resolution, I expect it’s better in real life Quote
1Panda Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 (edited) It appears to be a printed minifig head on the back of the alien attached to a minifig neck attachment piece… I like the use of the antenna piece too This is probably my favorite of the series the only ones I don’t really care for is the skater and the girl that comes with the foal. But other than that I’m liking this series. also I would have preferred a recolor of the baby piece for the mini robot I get that kids can actually assemble this one but it’s starting to look like a poly bag set with all those parts… Edited November 14, 2021 by 1Panda Quote

Don’t want to wind up with minifigures I don’t like Just been watching YouTube reviews of the leaked images with this and that minifigure described as ‘lame’. The one minifigure that hasn’t been described as ‘lame’ is the wheelchair racer. How ironic! The wheelchair racer is OK, but as my collection is fantasy/historical and sci-fi themed, I won’t be getting it. I wish the moon warrior had elf ears. The bard, while not bad, should have been more flamboyant. Seems a little understated for a character that’s supposed to be showy. I like the snow warrior. It has vibes of a fantasy tundra or Arctic fighter. Edited November 15, 2021 by AmperZand Quote
Stuartn Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 (edited) There are a lot of great figures in this series, especially the wheelchair racer and the figure with the foal (for the foal, the hat/hair in new colour and midi-legs), as well as useful parts for fantasy figures or SW in the raccoon figure and bird watcher, and potentially the snow-guy and guitar? player, but the rest of the series in somewhat underwhelming, as it feels as if it has been done before. Lion King Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 I wonder if the leaker did pay to leak the leaflet… Anyways, I have been wondering what is under that robotic wielder’s helmet. It’s hard for me to tell if it’s really a robot. Quote

sunhuntin Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 The fig with the acorn hat is very cute, and I look forward to getting a few of him. Could be the start of a Cub Scouts type group or similar. I like enough of them that I will end up with the whole set, and multiples of some. Quote

I would be to me honestly after the failure of Vidiyo... If they aren't from a strong IP like Harry Potter or the really really gorgeous generic ones (like Series 20 viking) the 4€-ones don't sell at my place anymore without a huge discount. There are still Series 18 figures on shelves. Until now the price was allways going up with a "special"/strong series, too. 2,50€ / Simpsons 1 (had licence costs for the first time and lots of special character specific heads) 3€/Disney ( well ... it was Disney)... That made it easier to swallow. This series is quite objectively weak with the amount of detail, special moulds and so on... also there are no licence costs. If these are 5€ each I'll able to buy pretty much all of them except for the horse and bard at stores in 2031... Edited November 15, 2021 by Gorilla94 Quote

O.o I was expecting this to happen with the last Marvel series. If it does, there's simply not going to be so much demand anymore. Back when CMF's were 2,5 I saw them in every store - now there's several old ones still left but from observation as well as asking employees it seems many stores don't even buy the new blind bags anymore. 100% price increase is a bit much within 6 years... Especially as many of them don't have that broad appeal outside of america. Quote
Frike Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 Super excited about the Bard and the new foal mould! The mushroom is very cute too. Quote
Vindicare Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 Decent series overall. The Bard is probably my favorite compete minifig. The girl with the foal is a nice one as well, having that hat/hair in a new combo is great. Love the costumed characters, so Chili Pepper & Raccoon is good. That acorn hat is adorable. Girl with toucan is more parts good. Toucan of course. I love the hat/ponytail piece so a new one is welcome. The others are just okay to me. Would’ve been nice to get a different color mix on the husky. Quote

cosmic Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 (edited) Gonna share my thoughts. Very disappointed definitely the worst cmf series imo (of the main line at least) Robot: I like this. Not the best robot ever (Evil Battle Mech remains supreme in my eyes) but not bad. Cute side build (will get) Chili suit girl: I was over these costumes how many series ago? I guess yay for whoever needed this costume in particular could see this being useful for a Food Court moc (not getting) :/ Bard: Love this fit, love the instrument, pennies, expression, concept, color scheme. Amazing, probably best of the series (1st choice to get) Snow Warrior: Glad we got older representation. Is this based on any particular folklore or culture? Nice sword but (not getting) Girl with horse: okay wtf? If previous cmf series are any indication this faun will eventually be available with bricks and pieces and will not be exclusive to this figure. Even if it is this completely defies what I expect from a cmf series. This violates the rule the Violin Boy from the previous series violated but in a new way. Whats her concept? Who is she? The prints and parts are useful but its literally just a girl and a horse? No existing trope, expansion of existing lore, use of a cultural phenomenon, nod to a historical figure or statue, just a figure with good printing who is essentially indistinguishable from any other city figure despite the quality of detail. Huge disappointment I hate her inclusion so much this is really just a girl and a horse am I missing something? (Not getting) Figure Skater: some gender swaps work for me (was excited about the lady cyclops and robot tbh) but this bores me and I feel like the S4 Figure Skater had much more personality. I will say however they would make a good duo and he gets the vibe across without being excessive. Someone out there will love this but he’s a definite pass (not getting) Moon Warrior: not really an existing trope so feel like much more could have been done with this. Would have loved a helmet shaped like a crescent moon that acts as armor. Feel like this could have been very abstract and she looks fine but definitely this concept could have been pushed further (crevice crater skin, crescent shaped helmet, etc) (will get but underwhelming) (reluctantly getting) Forest Spirit: I was really looking forward to this figure. He is a huge let down. I hate that he’s yellow. I hate that he’s a kid. I immediately thought protector of the forest or Satyr like Lorax-esque vibes of a forest dwelling elder with deep knowledge. I get that he could be immortal and thats why he’s so young looking, but I really think this would have been a. Good opportunity to give an older design since it’d be easier to convey wisdom with that age. Also feel like its conceptually lazy, I was expecting a Satyr, a Faun Man, maybe a goblin or orc like creature with wood skin? Protector of the forest swamp man vibes? Elder orc, maybe a non human or elderly figure. A young yellow kid in an acorn hat is very costumey and not not as creative as this concept could have ben executed. Huge disappointment I anticipated him the most (definite pass) Researcher: useful parts and colors, boring figure and redundant concept (not getting) Raccoon Girl: not the worst costume, not interested (not getting) Snail Alien: interesting fig! I love space figs they’re the best. Was not expecting this he looks so unique. Incredible figure that stands out even more considering how safe and uninspired or repetitive the concepts and figure we got this time. (Getting for sure) Wheelchair racer: love sports figs, love this concept, love this representation (definitely getting) Edited November 16, 2021 by cosmic Quote
ToaIruini Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 I’m having trouble understanding the alien’s face print. I get it’s supposed to be a beak, but it’s not working for me I just don’t see it. The classic space torso is nice for those who like those but for me it takes away from a potentially great torso print that could help define the figure. The weapon is lazy too, after how many series we have to get this gun and a stud? Not impressed with this figure. I like this series overall and might share more thoughts later. I’m oddly let down by this alien. Quote
Borex Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Maybe they designed the forest sprite to match the vidiyo folk fairy? although i am let down by his design i still want that acorn hat Quote

The insect head gear has black colour as eyes (At least I assume it is meant to represent eyes) printed on it. Took me a while to see a face, too - something that never happened in any Lego build or figure before which makes it one of the worst designs Lego has ever produced in my opinion... right next to series 19 carebear. I take the opposite view - think it’s great that they are stretching the ability of the minifigure parts to create such an alien face, from existing parts. Quote
Borex Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 (edited) Oh i thought it was really obvious. Even with a plain minifig head (in pink of course, or whatever colour he is) it looks like a closed beak to me. I think it’s a very clever design. But i even like the aliens like how they are made in this 1980’s lego book Edited November 16, 2021 by Borex Attached a link Quote
