NoOneOfImportance Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 Promobricks suggests that the larger Golden Dragon is for Lloyd, and the Samurai X Mech is for Pixal. It's interesting to note that each of the OG four get golden dragon themed vehicles, so if Lloyd does have the large dragon and pixal has the mech, that only leaves Wu and Nya without vehicles, so I can assume that Nya won't be coming back for this wave, though I suppose we'll see. 2 minutes ago, Bloquerto said: According to Promobricks, it is for Pixal. Takanuinuva Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 Shame. But might still be cool. I'm wondering if Crystal King is a mech made of vengestone. Or something like Demon Bull King/Oni Titan/Power Miners Crystal King All the ninja's with Golden Dragons. I wonder where this is going. (Might be Vengestone warriors similar to the Stone Army.) Heck with all the golden. Could be a new form for the Overlord. Him acquiring vengestone to counter the Ninja seems like something he would do. Quote

a guy from somewhere Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 I’m gonna be honest. This sounds like the final battle wave. All powered up with golden vehicles to fight the vengestone buyer. The skills and virtues they learn in core mean the ninja are more powerful than ever before. The only part that doesn’t line up is that weird samurai x mech. Best guess is it’s the mech that pixel uses in the kaiju protocol in season 11. Gonna be a weird year that’s for sure. Quote

Rolyat24 Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 Interestingly, Promobricks mentioned the big golden dragon (belonging to Lloyd) will have multiple heads. Maybe a golden Ultra Dragon? That would be interesting both set-wise and plot-wise. Quote
TeriXeri Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 (edited) Dark Temple and Crystal King have the most interesting name but I can't wait to see the others more then just name. I wonder if it's underground / Power Miners / Rock Raider esque as other subthemes have hit into other old themes somewhat before. Nexo Knight did end with all golden figures and power ups, but I don't see Ninjago ending just like that. Maybe it'll wrap up the main story to allow more diverse subthemes / legacy later. Master of the Mountain was already underground though with a DND theme. Dark Temple and Crystal King could be on the Dark Island. Vengestone mixed with Dark Matter could make for a powerful foe. The Stud Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 Based off these names, I’m worried that these “Golden Dragon” vehicles are all going to be super repetitive, kinda like how most of the Nexo Knights vehicles looked pretty similar. These names almost sound like placeholders since so many of them sound so similar. I’m just imagining the confusion of kids asking their parents or parents asking store employees for the “Golden Dragon” whatever when almost every set in the wave has that in the title. (Two of them are even called Golden Dragon Raiders.) It also feels weird to presumably be doing gold versions of the Ninja so soon after those Tenth Anniversary sets in my opinion. Still, while I was disappointed by the January wave this year, I’m sure the designers will be able to pull off some interesting designs here. There are some interesting tidbits here however. As many have pointed out, the Crystal King shares the name with a Power Miners set/creature. The crystal half of the name is also interesting as that suggests crystal villains this time around. Sounds like a fresh choice to be honest. A new giant Samurai X Mech also sounds pretty interesting, I’m amazed it’s taken Lego so long to do a large one. The gold dragon theming is also interesting. Are we returing to the First Realm? (My friend gave me this idea.) Or could this somehow be a continuation from The Final Battle? Who knows! I was planning on taking a year off from Ninjago but this story sounds kinda interesting… Quote
Lady Bone Demon Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 I really hope the crystal king means that somehow power miners stuff is getting wrapped in lol It's lego's 90th anniversary every line should be allowed to celebrate lego's history in their own fun unique way this year i hope Quote
a guy from somewhere Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 New virtue is out. The shorts begin! Quote
JJ Tong (zfogshooterz) Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Yep! I watched the shorts and yeah, I gotta say, I absolutely love it! Very pleasantly surprised! Unlike certain Legacy Shorts last year, I don't find anything that cringes me. Definitely excited to see more of the coming shorts! Also based on the trailer, I'm really liking the idea of mashing up the themes of previous waves (from SotFS onwards), that looks like fun! As for the list of 2022 2HY wave sets. I certainly dig it! Great to finally see a unifying theme for Ninja vehicles, quite curious to see how that's going to look. The villains is also quite intriguing too, while the name "Crystal King" does sounds like the set in Power Miner to others, I'm getting a vibe of a lost crystal kingdom. I don't know. but I'm curious to see how the crystal aspect is going to tie with Vengestone. Very interesting! Quote
Lyichir Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Not a lot that can be assumed from just the names of these sets. But a Pixal vehicle as the main focus of a set (and not just a side build) is exciting! Quote
The_Fiery_Rooster Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Well, these set names had me excited. I hadn't realized Ninjago never had any rock or crystal enemies so far, so hopefully we'll get some great minifgs out of that. The prospect of getting a massive dragon and Samurai X mech sounded amazing as well! But the leaked parts counts have dampened my excitement quite a bit. Why are they all so low? Less that 1000 pieces for $140? I suspect something is amiss, but then again, I can't remember the last time there was a mix up like this, and I don't want a repeat of MK 2020 when we all assumed info was wrong but wasn't, so now I'm prepared for disappointment. Hopefully I'm just being pessimistic, and something messed up here, or the sets still end up great despite the low part counts. Oh well. Quote
NoOneOfImportance Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 While the piece counts are kinda weird, I wouldn’t be surprised if Crystal monsters leads to some new larger molds (a la Rock Raiders monsters), which could account for the ppp ratio for the mech (since it would inevitably have monsters to fight of some sort). Quote
Mr No Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 I wonder how the crystal monsters will look like and if they will have only 1 color or more. Quote
Meaf Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 I like the sound of a lot of the larger sets, especially the dragon and Samurai X mech since we typcially don't get those kinds of sets at the scale implied by their prices. I guess it's possible that there'll be a lot of side-builds though, hopefully we get a little more info soon. Quote

NoOneOfImportance Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 I assume we don't have any rumors of another D2C set like Gardens for 2022? Quote

There was a rumor going around a few months ago regarding a $120 Ninjago City expansion (think City docks) Also, I'm hyped for the PIXAL mech. I was contemplating buying the Core temple partially for PIXAL and partially because it looks kinda cool (I think it would be in my top five temples if the doors were brick built. The doors are a big part of why I love The Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon. I was also considering making a MOC of the Kaiju Protocol mech (the fact that Lego doesn't do sets based on PIXAL centric episodes is bizarre and disappointing ngl; I love the weird parody type thing they did for them, especially as a big Tokusatsu fan and a big noir mystery fan). Kinda unrelated, but now I kinda wanna add a detective office to the Ninjago City moc I'm working on. Idk where I'll put it (maybe I'll just do an additional 16x32 plate thing and maybe include a warehouse or Kryptarium or something). Quote
