JeanGreyForever Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Wow, that new Maleficent minidoll is awful. At least the old one had some semblance of depth by adding a collar but this one doesn't even have that and seems so barebones.

Killian Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 We got a Disney Racoon in set 41142 and a Friends racoon in sets 41712, 41679 and 41681.... Why have we not got a Pocahontas set with Meeko?
JeanGreyForever Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 Pocahontas is long overdue. She should come with Grandmother Willow as the backdrop of the set and then a canoe. If they won't release her in the Disney Princess line, I'd love to see her in minifigure form with these Disney anniversary sets.
Lemerbrix Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Does anyone know why we don’t get sets based off of Disney channel shows, I know there was a canceled p&f game, tangled adventure got tied up with the Disney princess line, and the ducktales minifigs, but I would kill for a Lego Amphibia or Lego owl house set (or sets)

The only reason I thing we got set associated with the Tangled tv show is because it already had that connection to a princess, and even then they weren't so much tangled tv show sets as much as they were tangled sets with tv show characters, much like the JW Camp Cretaceous wave. Amphibia will likely never get sets (Although I would kill for a brick-built Andrias, and honestly this is the one time I think I would prefer minidolls over figs, because of the art style), and The Owl House is in only a barely better position, considering that it only has 2 more specials to air. Even this year, with Disney branching out into more of their classic (Princess-less) franchises, I doubt that any modern shows would make it.

Yeah, you do have a point with how unlikely it is for Amphibia and the owl house to get sets, i however do disagree with the statement of mini dolls for Amphibia, at least for human characters, honestly the amphibians would need new mounds for their heads, I know this because I tried a purist sprig, absolutely horrible, anyway, I can hope that we can get something based off of one of the newer shows (the ghost and Molly McGee, hamster and gretel, etc)
Karalora Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 2 hours ago, Lemerbrix said: Sad, Amphibia and the owl house deserve this kind of attention *shrug* It's not just Disney. Any given TV series just doesn't have the reach of a comparable movie. A movie viewing is a singular event--you go to the theater (or, increasingly, fire up your streaming service) and it's just two hours or so out of your life. Everyone who sees the movie gets about the same experience in terms of the actual content. Consuming an entire series is a much greater time commitment, so far fewer people will commit, and people who can only catch bits of it won't necessarily all catch the same bits, and so won't have the shared experience of people who saw the same movie. That in turn makes a series harder to advertise and harder to merchandise than an otherwise similar film.

DannyPowers Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 In a possible preview of what the Disney 100 collection may have in store for us, a new Funko Pop of Walt holding a sketch of Mickey leaked today. I wouldn't be surprised if the featured figure in the CMF line was something similar.

Maybe if he had one of those Mickey Ears hat things as a new piece or something. I'll be surprised if we don't get a Mickey as The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Wonder if he'll have a cloth skirt or the newish dress piece?

They are too stiff & blocky looking.

We'd definitely need something to jazz him up to be worthwhile as a CMF.
bobz Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 With the Luna new year parade set being released could we eventually see a Disney parade set as they are a major part of the theme park experience?

Make him an exclusive figure like Goofy was or like Tinker Bell still is.

If they do plan to go this route, is it asking too much that the set in question be a recreation of the Fantasmic! live show from the Disney theme parks? It would handily solve the issue of which iconic theme park thing to release next, as well as providing a reason to include LEGO versions of more characters. And not just minifigs. Can anyone say...brick-built dragon-form Maleficent?

Can anyone say...brick-built dragon-form Maleficent? Definitely need the big Dragon form Maleficent. The Sailing Ship Columbia depicting the Peter Pan - Captain Hook fight would be extra awesome too. We already got Steamboat Willie but if they included a Lilo minifig I'd buy it.
Karalora Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Since we already have the steamboat and sailing ship models are fairly plentiful (also it's not Peter and Hook on the ship anymore, it's some painfully generic Pirates of the Caribbean scenario), I would rather they focus on more unique builds--the dragon, a segmented giant Kaa, a barge or two or three for more characters to ride on, maybe a few "fireworks" to launch like on the castle model...
JeanGreyForever Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 I think a brick-built Maleficent would be best for a Fantasmic set to go with Sorcerer Mickey, especially since there's already that amazing lego Maleficent dragon model in Downtown Disney. And I agree that a Peter Pan themed ship wouldn't work because that was only used in the Disneyland Fantasmic show and that was rebranded a few years ago to Pirates of the Caribbean. I'd much rather see Disney continue their new line of classic sets and one day make the Jolly Roger from the movie. I'd love to see the Mark Twain Riverboat that comes out at the end of Fantasmic with a bunch of Disney characters and hopefully that would be an incentive for Disney to include a lot of minifigs. But going by how both the castle and the train only featured 5 minifigs each, and really only from the Mickey and Friends theme, I don't think they would really include anyone besides the customary Mickey, Minnie, etc.

Maybe design some new spangled outfits for the central Mickey & Friends characters to emphasize the "show" aspect? Come to think of it, I'd love to have a bipedal parks-style Pluto.

The outfits Mickey and the gang are getting for the 100th anniversary could work. I know the Tokyo Disney Park regularly gives the characters new outfits to match a certain theme like for their new water show which replaced Fantasmic. And I'd love a bipedal Pluto as well. No reason not to make one when Chip and Dale have full-scale minifigs already. I'm also not sure why they never gave Donald an exclusive Disney Parks minifig like they did with Mickey, Minnie, and Daisy. His parks outfit is different from his clipart/merchandise outfit.
