Posted September 30, 20213 yr The grand entrance to Treacleheim was famous for it's large statues depicting the dwarf brothers Dwim and Dim. As travelers approached the dwarven city, the light would catch off the gem-studded door drawing attention to the large doors. But it was the towering statues that kept visitor's attention as they crossed the bridge. Wyndor was visiting the dwarves of Treacleheim. The citizen's of his city, Dalig Ulv, were bringing their fall produce to trade for weapons. Raiders were becoming more and more of a problem. And with winter coming soon, it was likely the raids would only increase. Best to be well armed. And what better way to protect yourself than with a dwarven blade?
October 2, 20213 yr Great build here. I like the designs in the stone work. The rock work looks very organic and natural. The doors are nice. I really like the second level where the smaller doors are, really sets a nice visual. This reminds me of Erebor a little bit with the statues and the door. The trees on top are a nice pop of color.
October 2, 20213 yr This is so massive, very imposing. Several great patterns in the walls, especially those four under studs, it can't have been easy to make those fit in so well! I also really like your design for those jewel carts. The large statues are pretty good too!
October 3, 20213 yr This is really cool! The statues have come out really well; I especially like the chainmail helmet look - the studs out work nicely. The simple hand-drawn carts are nice too. I might copy that design for one of my own builds.
October 17, 20213 yr Wow, very nice! Great scale! I'm actually in the process of building a very similar dwarven gates myself, although I'm very slow. Love the statuary, and the detail in the stonework. Depending on what scale you're looking at on top, it might be nice to have some variation in the trees, but it's possible the dwarves clear cut every so often for defensive purposes. Great job!
October 19, 20213 yr The statues are great, and the whole build feels very imposing and dwarflike, with the detailed cobblestone and stonework incorporated into the cliffside.
October 26, 20213 yr Freaking awesome work on this MKJoshA! Imposing fortifications with some nice texture work (I particularly like your use of the 5-sided tiles throughout). Of course, both of those statues are fantastic, and you know I love seeing studs used intentionally as contrasting texture! Rockwork frames the structure well without going crazy. Great MOC!
October 26, 20213 yr I always appreciate the truly monumental scale of so much of your work, and this is one of your best pieces yet! The angular walls and ornament, combined with the excellent statues and rock work, make this an exemplary dwarven build. Very nicely done!
November 8, 20213 yr The scale of this MOC is quite impressive - especially the stone statues. My favorite part is the decorative stonework on either side of the doors (and the walls in general).
August 6, 20231 yr Excellent work! The giant statues make the world feel real. Similarly, the trees do a good job of creating a false perspective to make it feel farther away.
December 6, 20231 yr Oh wow, this is so impressive! The dwarves statues are so good! Great sculpting! The SNOT frames behind them also work very well and give them even more attention. The 45 degree angled bricks used inside out in the walls are also a nice detail. Brick on!
