Baraklava Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 (edited) Last year, a very extraordinary minifigure was added to the Bricklink catalog with little fanfare: Bone Saw, the wrestler from Spider-Man 1. This minifigure was notorious for being part of set 1375 Wrestling scene, a set from the Lego Studios line that never got released. How did this figure mysteriously materialize from nowhere? And was it real, or a custom-printed figure? I was determined to find out but no threads existed about it, and put the story out there. After finding no information on how this figure was added to the Bricklink database, and finding no claimed owner of the figure, I tracked down the store that sold it and asked about it. To my delight, they responded! Here is what they had to say: Quote Our sources of supply for Legokiloware are purchases from private households and collections, here we found 2 of these torsos several years ago while sorting. We are based near the Danish border, so we suspect that we bought this torso from someone who may have set up dioramas for Lego and was thus supplied with rare bricks. Since we couldn't find the torso in the Bricklink catalog either, it was put aside for the time being. Last year an employee saw a video on youtube where the figure with the torso could be seen and remembered that we still have this torso laying around. Then we took the pictures of the torso, the torso assembly and the minifigure and sent them to Bricklink with the request to include them in the catalog. After being checked by Bricklink, it was then added to the catalog. We have discontinued the figures and sold them via Bricklink, so unfortunately we do not have any of these torsos anymore. Nobody in our team can remember having found more individual parts from the set. Simple as that: They were found in a random lot by a Bricklink seller and sold off via Bricklink. We’re lucky to even know it came to exist, and there are supposedly two copies in the wild. Unfortunately there seems to have been nothing else of interest found with it, such as the wrestling floor that should’ve come with the set, so it is very likely the set itself never went past the prototyping stage and thus has never got neither box nor instructions. As to its whereabouts, I have yet to find whoever bought these, I haven’t seen any collector post about them, which is a bit of a bummer. I'd love to see the set reconstructed. If you're a prototype nerd like me, you're gonna want to keep your eyes out for this thing: I know for sure that this minifigure would fit right into my prototype collection, but I'm sure whoever got them treats them well! If you know who owns it or if someone posted a picture of it, please let me know! And huge thanks to novabrick for answering my questions! Bonus: forum thread about adding the minifigure to the catalog (seems the lucky ones who got them got quite a bargain, but novabrick couldn't recall the price they sold for: If you remember feel free to comment it below). Alexandrina Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 I find stuff like this incredibly interesting - the unreleased sets, the minifigures that have somehow managed to reach the market but nobody knows where they came from. It's interesting to me the head they chose to use for the figure - I know 2002 was when Fort Legoredo was re-released, but it had been a few years since any new figures had used this head, and afaik none of the other revived prints were ever incorporated into new sets at the same time. Kit Figsto Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 Does anyone know the price that these figures sold for? I have no interest in buying them, I'm more just curious. Presumably, the seller knew what they had here, but I have no clue what something like this would cost. Quote
sjbricks Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 Hello, I don't know how I've only just found this thread, but I am the owner of one of the two mini figures! I just happened to be looking through the torso catalog when I saw Bonesaw's torso, so immediately checked the figure listing and bought it. Here's an image of the figure: Quote
