Trudop561 Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Oh, that's okay...no offense taken Sorry but it's soooo overpriced. It's not worth the money. Maybe they are not fools but people who have money to waste. I will buy it when TLG will low the price (if they do it one day) enough. Quote

I will buy it when TLG will low the price (if they do it one day) enough. It's a steep price, but there is a lot to like. In addition to all the mini-figs(unique, redesigned, and new), there's a lot- a whole lot- this Death Star can do. It has most important scenes from all the Star Wars movies. Plus, you can't rule out the "Coolness" factor, either. It gives one a nice feeling when people stop and say "Hey, that looks awesome!". I'd say it's worth it. You don't see this kind of model from Lego too often, do you? Edited June 20, 2008 by Canticleer blues Quote
Deinonychus Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Do dinosaurs have manhood? I have a cloaca...and it's spectacular So anyway, back to the set. I wonder about shipping. Hopefully this'll have it's own dedicated master shipper boxes like the Falcon did. And it looks like here in the US it'll be around $25 for the freight. It's probably better to wait on any pre-orders and just buy the thing after Thanksgiving when they usually start their free shipping promotion for $99 or over orders. That, or pick it up in a LEGO retail store. Then you get stamps on your loyalty card...lots of 'em! Quote
Snake...SNAKE...SNAAAAKE?! Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Yes, it's a 200$ set, not a 500$. Lego is not going to make many money with this due to the small number of people who will buy it.Even the battle packs are more economic because they are easy to sell. I hope that TLG will low the price like they done for the space skulls and star justice sets. However I will have to buy it in the US ==> 100$ less! And even in the US it's too expensive. I have to make a choice : 1. I buy the death star but I won't get the clone wars sets 2. I get the clone wars sets but I won't get the death star I CANNOT CHOOSE! Trudop, I'm choosing the Death star since, well, it is OT and a true staple for lego fans everywhere!!! but still, my wallet is gonna be :skull: Quote
cartoondude Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 $400 I just want the emperor, As i am mainly into the clone wars. Thank you bricklink. Quote
Hopewell Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I've held out on posting my opinion for as long as possible because I was disappointed initially. We're missing enough fleshie characters from Empire and Jedi that I was let down to see so many mini-figs already released. But the playset looks cool and if you don't have many of these figs, this is a no-brainer. Still this is the first major set I won't be buying. All the characters I care about, I already have. But I hope you all enjoy it. It does look cool. If this came with an Endor Bunker and a bunch of fleshie minifigs in Endor gear, this would be a different story.... Quote

Vaders_son Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Thanks for the link to the high-res pics Lego-Freak, just spend some time getting more and more happy about all the cool features that come with the DS But somehow there should be two more picture from the missing two sides of the DS, like 'from the side'. With those pictures you can't see everything properly, e.g. that cannon thing in the lowest level... please TLC Quote

Stash2Sixx Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Just remember, prices are going up EVERYWHERE on EVERYTHING as of lately, so for all of you complaining how this is WAY OVERPRICED, settle down. Understand economics and you will understand what is goinig on. I have not heard yet if there will be a demo from TLG at Brickworld, but I will keep a lookout. And for those of you that live in the US, go and preorder it at your LEGO store. You will get the stamps when it comes in, and I can't remember exactly how the shipping would work, but either way, you still would get a $20 gift card!!! For Canadians, make a trip of it and drive to the US to make your purchase! Just a few thoughts so people will stop COMPLAINING about everything!!!! Quote
JoeMI6 Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 People have a right to complain, but I personally feel as well as a great set, this is a genuine step in the right direction for TLC. With sets like this and the Agent Mobile Command Center, you can see that Lego is really putting fun first. Yes, it's pretty expensive, but you also have to think about balance. For all those who complain about the price, I can see your point, but I think for what it's offering, whilst it could be cheaper, it's fantastic - I'm not sure I've ever seen so many great minifigs and elements in a set. As for those moaning about the Stormtroopers being 'cheap' and whatnot, the more new pieces, molds and prints there are, the more the price goes up. If I had the cash, I would happily spend my money on this set. I think we should just be glad we're getting this at all. Plus, if this sells well, it means more sets of a similar calibre. Quote
Christian Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 This really looks to be a fantastic set. Did anyone notice that there seems to be some kind of elevator between the Tie hangar and the room underneath it? Quote

Well spoken, I too moan somewhat about the price but we all know how expensive LSW is and I too am really happy with how this set turned out This really looks to be a fantastic set.Did anyone notice that there seems to be some kind of elevator between the Tie hangar and the room underneath it? Yes! As TLCs product description states there seems to be a lot of connection between the different scenes, one of the a elevator in the center of the DS. Quote
Bobskink Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Did anyone notice that there seems to be some kind of elevator between the Tie hangar and the room underneath it? nope didn't notice, but I do wonder if there's somekind of trapdoor from the prison to the trash chamber. Quote
Vaders_son Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 TLC's desciption says there's a way from the cell block to the trash compactor. Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 (edited) Maintenance? I read that was the IG-series droid that tried to attack Boba Fett on his way to Cloud City, but was destroyed by him. His remains were thrown in that "maintenance" room.Great set again. I can't stop looking at it... TT Indeed, and Deino's post(previous page from where yours is) also states that. Anyway, it still could be any old IG droid but I'll call it IG-88B. Thanks for the clear up, guys! Christian, about the elevator, you're referring to the twirlable peg on the 'wall'? It COULD be an elevator... And yes, it's quite obvious that there will be a garbage chute. It's in the TLC description. Edited June 20, 2008 by trooperdavinfelth Quote
Christian Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Christian, about the elevator, you're referring to the twirlable peg on the 'wall'? It COULD be an elevator... I've marked a couple of things on this picture which I think implies that there might be a freight elevator connecting those two floors. Particularly the winch seems to support this theory. Quote
sam89 Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Great spot, Christian! The detail in this set is amazing. Quote
Vimes Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Will it be an US-exclusive set or will it be available in europian countries, too? It is a beautiful LEGO SW set, a jewel for every collection. I hope, that everyone gets the opportunity to buy this set in his country... Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 It looks like it will be aviable in UK for 276 Pounds. And until UK is part of Europe, it will be also aviable in our country, Vimes. @ Topic: The price is unspeakable high!!!!!! Yeah, we have to pay 400€ for a set with 3803 pieces! That is too much money! I want to have a 20€ coupon! What? I must just go in a Lego Store and show my Loliaty-card? You got me there! To the Legostoro-Mobile! *Batman intro* Quote
Joebot Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Just remember, prices are going up EVERYWHERE on EVERYTHING as of lately, so for all of you complaining how this is WAY OVERPRICED, settle down. Understand economics and you will understand what is goinig on. That's a fair point (not that it will stop any of the complaining). Lego bricks are a petroleum product, and thus we're bound to see some price increases. And of course it's a licensed set, which carries its own "tax." This is a really interesting set. I see it as more of a display piece (like the UCS ships) rather than a "playset." The rooms seem way too small and cramped to get your hands in there to really "play" with it. Quote
pedro Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 £274.99 = $543 'tis a fantastic set, either in your price range or not, but that's a major hike in price for those of us in the UK... victims of TLG's unfair exchange rate again Ah well, the eternal Lego Star Wars lover, I'd still really like to get it! I'll have to see if I can order a set from somewhere where it's not quite as expensive. Wish me luck! Quote
