Dragonator Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 ??? What the heck ??? This is flipping amazing!!!!The Death star is only $400 in Austrailia! And only $430 in New Zealand WOW WOW WOW!!! It's all mine! With a price like that, I should go order it right now! Except then there's the shipping costs... To bad there isn't a free shipping option. Quote
Siegfried Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Except then there's the shipping costs... To bad there isn't a free shipping option. It was only $45 for me, and since I ordered one for a friend as well it's only $22. Quote
Svelte Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 I don't think this isn't a mistake, as the price is roughly uniform amongst all the non-US countries, whereas Green Grocer was clearly out of line with everyone else. I think I'm moving to NZ - $430NZ is only $340AUD or GBP 165 so even with postage I wouldn''t complain There should be a prize for whichever country works out the cheapest! Quote
Legoman Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Well, New Zealands cheapest... is the prize 1 free death star Quote
Bobskink Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 When you order, do you have to pay imediatly, or when it ships? I can't find any info on the site. Quote
Virar Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 When you order, do you have to pay imediatly, or when it ships? I can't find any info on the site. This says: Please note: we will authorize your credit card at the time of your order. As part of this authorization process, your bank will place a hold on your account for the purchase amount of your order. The hold will be removed after a number of days determined by your banking institution - check with your bank for details. So they'll check if you have enough money when you place the order, but actually charge you when they ship the order. Quote
Led ZePPelin Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I don't think this isn't a mistake, So you think this is a mistake? Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Wow thanks for those news Fenson!!This is so awesome! Thank you TLC Thank you so much, my wallet is already !! Lego12 Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I am GETTING THIS! Even though it is a lot of $$$$! Gonna be SWEET! I am crying in happiness..... I give TLC a double thumbs up on this set! Comes with NEW !!! Quote
Svelte Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 I don't think it's cheaper than for you over here It's just way fairer than before In NZ and Aus it *is* cheaper than the US price - the prices translate to about $US330 and $US385 respectively. Europe still pays extra, but not as much as before! Compare to 2007's 10179 prices for NZ and Aus - approx $US760 and $US940 respectively at current rates - and you can see why we're all surprised. Yes, I understand that about your prices down under And that's what I was talking about only: 'Europe still pays extra, but not as much as before!' That's the way it is, and that's just ******* awesome Best regards, Benny Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Got my Death Star on order - finally, parity with US prices! I was expecting this set to be £280 ($560) £199 works out at $400 at the current xchange - so bang on! Such an awesome set, the playability is unrivaled and I gotta get those mini figs Quote

Adam Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 It was only $45 for me, and since I ordered one for a friend as well it's only $22. Wait- you got the $400 Death Star for you and your friend for only $67??!! How the heck did you get such an amazing deal??!! Quote
Legoman Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 He was replying tothe previous post, so he's talking about lego's postage rates Quote

How the heck did you get such an amazing deal??!! Man there are some fun posts to read in this topic Sorry for the completely senseless post but I just had to Quote
Dragonator Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 It was only $45 for me, and since I ordered one for a friend as well it's only $22. Ah yes, a good idea, I can think of one person nearby who might be interested in this baby. Usually postage to NZ for S@H is around 80NZD ( ) for the larger sets, but hopefully this isn't quite that much. Out of interest, if you pre-order now, are you required to pay in advance, or do you have an option to pay later? Quote
Zzz Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 haven't been in this thread for a while but just checked the lego site and... thanks for the € price, lego! you made my day! Quote
Svelte Posted June 30, 2008 Author Posted June 30, 2008 Out of interest, if you pre-order now, are you required to pay in advance, or do you have an option to pay later? They 'authorise' your card to make sure that you've got the cashola, but they don't process payment until just before they ship. At least, that's what they're supposed to do. The authorisation should clear in a week and wouldn't show up on a bill. Quote
Siegfried Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Wait- you got the $400 Death Star for you and your friend for only $67??!! How the heck did you get such an amazing deal??!! Now that would be a sweet deal! But no, it costs $844.98 AUD... Quote
Hewman Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Hopefully I'm not repeating something already discussed here, but the black R2 droid is listed on Lego as R2-Q5, whereas the previous black R2 unit from set 6211 was R2-D5. Now looking at the pics, it looks like the torso (cylinder) has slightly different patterning on it, at the top the R2-Q5 has what looks like to me ( I am red-green colour blind mind you) like two horizontal red bars whereas the the R2-D5 has these bars in metallic gold.
