Andrex Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) Oh.. My God. I need that. Now. Wow, a set has finally convinced me to want to buy it. But.. that's perfect. Every possible minifigure I could possibly want. Please don't let it be too expensive.. This is ideal O_O. The design is outstanding! The trash compactor with Dianoga, prison chambers, power generator, and hangar. Squee! Next to the Sandcrawler, I'll be happeh! The UCS Falcon is now off my agenda. This is priority one! Commence Primary Ignition! The only problem.. Edited June 17, 2008 by Andrex Quote
The Kid Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Best. Set. Ever. However, if the Clone Wars prices are anything to go by, UK pricing should be around £250-275... the American prices are rising to reflect UK/EU prices (sorry if someone already said this, but 12 pages takes a long time to read ). If it's £250 I'll happily buy it here. £300? I'll have to try bring it back from Florida TK Quote
Raptor Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 yeeha now the pics are back I guess TLG did not send any request for removing the pics, doesn't make sense cause LEGO releases the pics. for that amount I would rather buy the better scaled UCS Falcon! EDIT Bonaparte: Please don't reply on a post containing tons of pictures! Your post only contains 2 lines, but by quoting a post with losts of pics you are making this thread very unreadable. Quote
yorkiejim Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 jeeze what job do you have? presidents bodyguard? Basicly, i have nothing else to spend money on (exept for food ). ever since i first herd of the clone wars sets i started saving, i just erm... saved ALOT. Quote
Morten Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 This is great. I was really looking forward to some pictures of this set. As we all know, sets could look bether and they could look worse, I think the hole idea with a Death Star play set is just perfect. Love all the minifigs. A few negative comments: The black death star trooper helmet sucks, and the Tie-advance is a little strange, the cockpit is only 4 studs wide, so will it hold Darth Vader? Now theres is only to cross our fingers and hope for a mirracle that LEGO ShopAtHome makes a mistake like they did with the price of the Green Grocer i Australia, and put a wrong price on it! It is a lot of money! Will get it anyway. Morten Quote
Deinonychus Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I don't recall anyone else mentioning the fact that it spins on its base. So what are the thoughts on that? I think it's a great way to keep that big sphere accessible from all sides, but that just screams to be displayed somewhere that has enough room to spin it freely, especially with the superlaser beam tacked on. Sure as hell beats a UCS-style stand for this set. Probably a little sturdier as well. Quote
Zarkan Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Simply... Incredible. This is by far the most amazing starwars set ever, end of story. Better than the ISD, better than the Sandcrawler, better than the USD Millenium Falcon... just better than any starwars set before it. The detail on this is simply astounding - every major Death Star scene from both movies it featured in, all reproduced perfectly. And the minfig count is amazing as well - at least 4 stormtroopers, 3 death star troopers, a new black protocol droid, and even the old figures have new torsos! Of course, there's no way I'll ever get this set. It's more likely that I'll inherit the estate of a dying millionare. That said, I'm impressed that TLC undertook such a hard project, and I'm glad they've finally given starwars fans the kit of their dreams. Death Star ON! Quote
Lasse D Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 (...) and the Tie-advance is a little strange, the cockpit is only 4 studs wide, so will it hold Darth Vader?(...) With the 1x2x2 panels it should hold a minifig inside. I don't know whether the front is see through from that position though. Which rooms can we see? Please copy and modify the list as we find out more about it - or have better descriptions than mine: Top level - R2D2 stand in the room where they can communicate with the heroes in the garbage contractor (Ep IV) - The conference room where Vader holds some meetings with the officers - Gun towers - IG-88 "fixes" Darth Vader. Is this the transformation scene? Main Level 2 - Final battle with Darth Vader and the Emperor - Hangar - Prison corridor and (with cell and "trap door" so they can fall down into the garbage contractor?) - Main weapon control room Main Level 1 - Garbage contractor - Tractor beam reactor - Hallway with retracting floor - Repair bay with crane? - Unknown room with a wrench? Bottom Level - Halls? Quote
Vaders_son Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 - IG-88 "fixes" Darth Vader. Is this the transformation scene? What 'transformation scene' are you talking about? And I think it was said that the droid is not IG-88 or not? Benny Quote
Canticleer blues Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I'm pretty sure that's IG-88 (see my earlier post with the link to Wookiepedia-he was on the DSII at one point in the EU). The set display people probably don't know who he is and had no idea what to do with him, so they put him there. Quote
yorkiejim Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 What 'transformation scene' are you talking about? And I think it was said that the droid is not IG-88 or not?Benny its likely not ig-88 its probably some random droid technision, if you look close in one of the pics it shows th IG droid repairing the black protical droid. Belloq Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 ITS...BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!! oH GOD!!!! I think I just caught a glimpse of heaven!!!! So many figs! 24 minifigures in ONE awsome feature-packed set!!!! I want to know the price! I vant to know! Tell me, I'm ready! I vant to know! As soon as it hits shelves, its MINE!!!!! Quote
Walter Kovacs Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 With the 1x2x2 panels it should hold a minifig inside. I don't know whether the front is see through from that position though. Definately not see through. The 4 x 4 dish is held on by a Black 4 x 4 Round Plate. Quote
Lasse D Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 You are right, and black to boot, so Vader will have to use the force when piloting that thing. So IG-88 is repairing Darth Vader or what is the conclusion? Quote
Plural Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I think he's repairing the black protocol droid. (Which is very pretty might I add) Quote
browniedjhs Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 wow- i have never been this truly amazed by a set....just amazing...even more so then the falcon...closely tho the figures are truly amazing, interesting to see that TLC is giving us a number of the same characters with multiple figs instead of extra torsos and such to make them i.e luke in stormtrooper gear...duel scene outfit...original outift etc i wont go on and say the same stuff except this it would have been great to have gotten a chromed C-3PO like the ones last year that were limited- i never got one and considering this is supposed to be the mother of all sets- and since we are getting a new R-2 it would have been nice to get a new 3PO but just a minor complaint to such a truly beautiful PLAYSET! yes playset thank you so much TLC now i just have to save a few grand to pay for all of these sets this year Quote
blueandwhite Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) This is what we think we know so far 10188 Death Star Release date: September Price: 399 USD / 274.99 GBP Minifigs: 24 Pieces: 3803 KimT So has this price actually been confirmed or is it still just speculation? Also, would you happen to have a guess on the price in other jurisdictions (I'm thinking about $600 in Canada and Australia and 350 Euro). I would love some concrete info if you've got it. commanderbly42 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Has anyone thought that the black C3PO looking droid could be 4-LOM or is that just me being stupid? Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Absolutely spectacular! I had always thought that Lego could build a Death Star playset similar to the old Hasbro one which I actually still own. Here's a picture: I had even thought about building one over the years, but never thought I had enough pieces to do it justice. This is even better in the shape of the Death Star. I'm not a big fan of the high-ticket sets, but this one is a must buy for any Lego SW fan (even for any SW fan). Aw man... my brother owned that, but it was like I did too. I think I still have the rubber trash compactor monster... only he turned black after being exposed to the environment and chemicals in my fish tank... EDIT: Interesting that the box does not have a piece count. Well, I mean, just look at it. The poor bastards had to go home to their families at some point. Is a part count more important to you than little Jorgey growing up without a daddy? Quote
StarWars brick Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 HOLY COW! I think this set is a-w-e-s-o-m-e! I better start saving some money, because this set blows me away! So detailed, 20 minifigs, on each floor a scene from the movies is going on. This set is incredible and reminds me at the vintage Kenner Death Star. This set rules! Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Just a question guys : what is the thing under the superlaser on this picture?I also think that there are two royal guards. Never TLG released a set with only one royal guard. It's one of two things: Either the Tractor beam or the overloading gun(the one seen briefly shooting out steam in ANH Special Edition ). Either way it has a blunt shooter; check the box art; it's shooting. People, what kimt means by no chat he means no sp33king like th1s. And no overuse of swearing or chat abbr. Quote
Oswald the Rabbit Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Has anyone thought that the black C3PO looking droid could be 4-LOM or is that just me being stupid? There was a black protacal droid on the DS. I believe it had a differnt looking head though. Quote
darkrebellion Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Anyone notice that in the room where are Vader, Tarkin and a stormtrooper is like an entrance to an elevator in the middle of the playset (The one made with semi-circular bricks of a quarter of the whole circular wall). Maybe we got a manual fuctional elevator . Quote
Snake...SNAKE...SNAAAAKE?! Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Guys, I have a theory, Remember General Grevious? we get the pics and like two weeks later it's on S@H! Imagine if it comes at the end of June! YAY! Just a theory from.... Quote
