I sort of took the "exclusive minifigure" thing to mean characters rather than variants of existing figures.  The exception here seems to be MBS sets, because they're minifigure-compatible, I guess, but I don't think any UCS sets have had exclusive characters.  I have no idea, but that's how I interpreted the comment.

The UCS Snowspeeder (2017) had two exclusive pilots, I believe.

Those new Stormtrooper bodies are getting a lot of deserved hate on Instagram. Lego did such a good job on the printing on the recent Scout Troopers, Snowtroopers and Hoth Scout Troopers only to subsequently drop the ball so hard on these with no printing on the belt area and that terrible torso. First the new (Stormtrooper) helmets that were already a step back and now this *oh2*

On the other hand I really like the Dagobah set. The little green fella only seems to have a kitchen and no place to sleep though, so a slight expansion of the interior might be in order using the bricks from the previous Yoda’s hut.

The Stormtrooper printing could be better, but it’s not a step back. The torso barely changed, and the legs only changed around the hips/crotch area, which is just as (if not more) accurate as it was before.

Is there any update on AotC sets? Like Jedi Starfighter, etc? Which set C-3PO will be in?

Sorry, I’m sure to the party.

All we know is the AT-TE is $140 and the Jedi Starfighter is $30 and they’re coming in August.

The C-3PO in the Trash Compactor has arm and foot printing. The C-3PO with arm printing, foot printing, and a dual-moulded leg is from the UCS Landspeeder.

Wow, the build for the Republic Tank is just terrible. A significant step back from the previous one. That and the weird action figure clones might make this one of the worst sets in years.

Thing is, while any designers that participate in interviews have undergone TLG's internal media training, it isn't like the whole team has had a huddle to ensure they give monolithic responses to things. Their thinking and methodology changes all the time, and lots of different people get to have input.

Maybe they had a general feeling not to lock exclusive Minifigures in UCS sets, but then a set's designer or the team lead or whoever goes "hey we didn't need as many recolours for this set as we thought, let's add to the minifigure instead!" and bam, here we are.

Plus there's plenty of precedent to include a more highly detailed variant with UCS sets. Imperials with dual moulded legs and/or arm printing, extra printing on the TIE Fighter helmet, OT Boba with arm printing, etc.

I'm not trying to stick up for LEGO in saying this, but rather pointing out that their communication about such things is wildly inconsistent and no one designer's word in an interview should be taken as gospel.

I guess that's fair but then why not do a special pilot or a "more detailed" Windu variant if the stance is variants are ok but exclusives aren't.

It must be exhausting, casting yourself the victim time and time again.

I don't think thats a fair characterization but to each his own. I'd much rather "play the victim" and point out simple facts/trends then lick Lego's boot from heel to toe.

On another note, the fighter tank looks great, a bit small but that's fine.  The purple troops look fantastic too and its refreshing to see that different clone legions are being given love by Lego. Hopefully, if this sells well we'll see a yearly clone set with a different legion (I'm praying for 104th).

I think it's just the lighting, but it almost looks like Mace Windu has dual molded arms, I got all excited for a second.

Whoo. I think I’ll need to see better angles of the front, but that piece hey used just doesn’t work. I’d say it’s still pretty cool though, especially considering that it’s got two battle droids too.

The chest looks completely different. It went from the current quite detailed version to something looking like the undershadow of the moobs of a skinny old man who used to have really trained pecs 20 years ago XD

And that tank…

Feel like the tank is too “straight” on the body it needs more of a angular look than a bare bones blocky look or at least some plates on the side to make it look less clean. The 2008 got it right with the detailing/slopes to give the tank a special shape from the nose to the main build.Although I will say the legends TX looks better than the canon one as seen in battlefront 2 where this one’s probably based from.

This is what's known as a false choice. There is a middle ground.

LEGO is inconsistent. It's as simple as that. It's not a slight against you personally (or against all PT fans) that they put a great fig in a $200 OT set that — if I had to guess — very few people here are at all eager to buy. At least they didn't put a killer Commander Cody in a $350 PT set... I'm fairly sure that would have ticked people off far more.

Yet.

The tank proportions look more in vein of 2008 variant to me, definitely not as small as 2007 version. Probably between those 2 size extremes. I'll have to see pictures from more angles (and fully assembled set at that) but the inclusion of 1 (perhaps 2?) battle droids makes this set an attention catcher for me

It's also entirely possible that LEGO's approach to minifigs in the UCS gunship is how they will handle minifigs in the Landspeeder and future UCS sets... a period of exclusivity followed by reuse in smaller sets somewhere down the line. I'd personally be very happy if the Landspeeder figs showed up in smaller sets 6 months or a year later... would allow me to upgrade all my C-3POs, which won't otherwise happen at $40 or whatever this fig will run on BL. From my perspective, PT fans get a sweet deal... I'd hope for the same in other UCS set moving forward.

It looks pretty good imo.

The minifigures are dope. Does Mace have dual-moulded arms? It could just be a trick of light, but the colour looks just like the white printing on his legs.

The build is too square-ish. It's... alright. Need to see more angles.

Imma be honest that tank atleast to me looks a+s+s. For $40 they could've gone with an og battlefront 2 styled tank with the laser turret upgrade built on the one they did from 2017 but idk about this one. Hopefully, better pictures come out, but atleast we get good figures

Both the trench run and Yoda's hut are reasonably priced here in Australia, which is unusual, at $90 and $120 respectively. The trash compacter, on the other hand, is $150. I don't see anyone buying it for that price, even with the R2-D2 back printing. I had no intention of getting any of these sets, but this is ridiculous.

Wow, that’s better than the DV chamber! Today’s hut will be a must buy then.

on another note, the tank is okay but a huge step down from the 2017. I don’t mind the unusual clones but I wish another yet undone/underdone canonical unit got this sort of attention first.

Zooming in, it looks like Mace does have dual-moulded arms!

Ooh, I might have to get this anyway. Backpedaling like Bryan del Rizzo from Nvidia...

I could be completely wrong and the lighting is just that bad, but it seems to be dual-molded.

I don’t understand how Lego can make builds that they’ve already made so much worse. (AAT and Republic Fighter Tank)

Dual moulding on the Mace Windu fig is great, so maybe I’ll pick this up if it goes on clearance in 2024. (If we don’t have another set with Mace in it by then.)

To be clear I don't care that the Gunship didn't have good/exclusive figs. I bought the model because it looks fantastic on display and that's why I've bought every UCS set I have but I don't understand why the same rules can't apply to all UCS models. Also, I don't give a crap about prequel fans vs TLG, that's a dumb conspiracy drummed up by people who don't understand the difference between real vs internet

However to address your second point of figs being exclusive for a while and then made widely available that's not something I'm opposed to BUT now that I've had time to actually look at the fighter tank picture Mace seems to have dual molded arms. If that is the case then it's an absolute slap in the face to the Gunship model and entire mini-figure controversy from last year and shows TLG is incredibly tone-deaf.
