Most recent playscale vehicle builds are 9+ (with a few exceptions like the TIE fighter and Imperial Maruader at 8+). Taking the age recommendation into account makes a few of the design choices like the large side slope pieces and the bulky side cannons make a lot more sense. And I still think using the X-Wing canopy on the front is inspired parts usage. Wow, yeah didnt realize we would be able to pre-order this so soon! What to do! By the time there is a promo I want, I'm sure it will be out of stock. Doubt this will be available in May! Quote
JVM Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 So, as someone who has collected Hasbro's Star Wars figure line just as long as the LEGO sets, I think seeing the 187th Legion in a set is pretty dang cool, and I take it as a welcome signal that LEGO will be diving deeper into clone troopers over time. I've never picked up a previous Fighter Tank so no comparison to the old ones is of interest to me. It's a must-buy. I definitely feel for those who are hoping for more film and animation-accurate designs but I'm happy about this. Quote

Double VIP points are always welcome, but if the promo isn't to my liking I might wait to see if I can get a discount on those sets instead. Quote

CodFather1 Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 Legohio is claiming that someone sent him an actual leak of a molded battle droid head attached that is attached to C-3PO, implying a MBS Geonosis Arena, He is saying that he thinks it would be funny if on April Fools day he posted an actual leak, as he treated the last 2 months of as April fools day. I don't buy it, but it's interesting that he is trying to backtrack like this after all the trouble he caused. Quote

I might have gotten this set if it had come with Mace’s Burgundy troops from Season 7 or Ponds and 2 91st Reconnaissance Troops. Although even then, I’m holding off on buying any sets with clones in it right now because I think the current designs look so bad compared to the ones from a decade ago that I’m waiting until a few years down the line when they don’t look so terrible. (with the inaccurate clone commander colour, weird cartoon stylized chest curves, lack of silver on the P1 visors, the weird grey cheeks on the P2s)* *Benefits of the new clones include leg printing and accurate faces, but I still think they could be so much better by even doing things they did 10 years ago. And in the future maybe we’ll get arm printing for the coloured shoulders of clones from the Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith. It is weird that they never do hip printing for Clones or Stormtroopers (except that one time in 2005) despite the fact that every First Order Stormtrooper has hip printing, and Han Solo has had hip printing since the start of the theme in 1999. As others have already pointed out, it is in fact a Clone Commander as that is how LEGO labled it based on the Hasbro's figure that was also called a Clone Commander. Honestly, I wish the 187th was featured in the Clone Wars, as much as I liked Ponds and the 91st Reconnaissance Corp, the 187th look much cooler imho. Maybe someday they'll be canonized since there's nothing that contradicts their existence and Jedi have been known to work with multiple Clone legions, especially considering Mace was High General. Unfortunately sets from TPM and TCW are both fairly rare these days that I don't expect to see her revisited anytime soon. I think her best chance at a new figure would be if she shows up in either Lando or the Bad Batch season 2. I mean we got like 4 pod racer sets at the beginning of this theme in 99. Sure it was the very year the Phantom Menace came out but we got pod racing sets in 2011 and 2019. From 2011 having Wald to 2019 having Padme to the 99 sets having obscure background racers, we’ve gotten unique characters every time the pod racing sets have gotten released. and considering Aurra was in the background of that scene, all they’d have to do is drop her in the next pod racing set they make, which I do not doubt, even if it takes years (8 year gap between the most recent 2), we will get. I still think they’d have an opportunity outside of the Disney plus shows. Question is will they take it? I’m personally not just gunning for her, but updated versions of some background speeders, Anakins mom for the first time, and maybe even a build for a racer other than Anakin or Sebulba (updated Gasagno anyone?) the next time they make a podracing set. Considering the Kashyyyk clones in battlefront, it wouldn't be the first time we had lego versons of clones before they got canonised. It'd be cool if they showed up in a d+ show, I know none of them are quite the right time period but we could have flashback or people could've scavenged the armour. Cassian fought against the republic as a child so he could be hiding from them in a flashback, or we could see one with the clone defectors in the bad batch s2. Quote

New clones are always welcome as you say, but I quite like the 187th so I'd like to see them show up somewhere other than a toy line (they might be purple shock troopers but I like Purple and I like shock trooper. Though 212th would be good too, I would've picked up more of the 212th bp if it hadn't been for the airbornes cause I like airbornes okay but I don't want loads of em 2 was enough for me. Kdapt-Preacher Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 We don't usually talk about the foil packs much here, but I'm disappointed with the upcoming mini AT-AT for fully three separate reasons. They're using the newish Plate, Modified 1x1 with Bar Handles for the lower legs, which should have been great since I would quite like them to release that piece in light bluish grey, but they're using it in dark grey instead. So firstly I'm disappointed because this is the third AT-AT foil pack and I'd like something new, and secondly because I don't get the piece I'd like, and thirdly because an AT-AT with dark grey lower legs looks like crap. Why would they do that? Given the whole world of LEGO pieces available to them, including the ones used for the two previous AT-AT foil packs and the twelve other AT-ATs they've made, why on earth would they choose to use a piece that doesn't exist in the right color? cosmic Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 Finally built the General Grievous star fighter from 2020. I love the airborn trooper best part of the set. The underside and backside feel exposed and unrefined, considering the price point that feels like a waste. Also considering it only had 3 bags, definitely did not feel worth it in the end. I never liked the 2020 Mustafar set (really ugly in my opinion) and always thought Anakins Interceptor from 2012 was the best Mustafar Lego set. Kenobi may be inaccurate but at least you he’ll fit in well when I buy that 2012 interceptor, he’ll make sense on that display. Grievous feels flimsy definitely going to be careful with him. Ship has its angles but yeah definitely not worth the price. Quote
NoOneOfImportance Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 CommanderBricks over on Instagram has some great comparisons of the Republic Fighter Tank with the AAT, and it really gives a pretty good perspective of size and value. Honestly, looking at the comparisons and piece counts, I'm feeling better about the $40 price point (though that never bothered me too much, despite feeling like it could be $30-$35). Quote
puttingstickersonisintense Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 Hey so..... just wondering because I have heard some rumours, is there a couple Attack of the Clones sets coming later this year like is it basically confirmed or just rumours? Also a new updated AOTC Anakin and Obi Wan minifigs as well maybe? I hope so, they are both due for new prints, so does Padme tbf. Quote

Promobricks has revealed the existence of 75333: Obi-wan's Starfighter for 30 Euros with a Kaminoan, as well as 75337:AT-TE for $140 that could be Attack of the Clones, or it could be Bad Batch or Clone Wars. We don't have any intel for them beyond that. All of this is pretty much confirmed, as Promobricks is a very reliable source that has a hugely accurate track record. Quote

Remember Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 I’ll be rather disappointed if the AT TE turns out to be not be from Episode II. Would then be only Obi wan’s Jedi starfighter and the Clone command station in a significant anniversary for AOTC. Was really hoping for a Slave I recolour or a remake of the bounty hunter chase. I can’t see the MBS being Geonosis either, as much as I would like it. Endor is the most likely pick. Quote

I would be surprised if it isn't based on Episode II, given that the only other option is Clone Wars. Clone Wars has gotten some sets lately, but the fact that Episode II has been neglected for so long and that we already know for sure that we're getting Obi-Wan's star fighter from that movie makes me think Lego is going to try and cover some of that ground this year. The AT-TE hasn't played a major role in any Star Wars media as far as I can remember, so I think Lego will probably just go with its most famous appearance, that being the AoTC version. Quote

But you also just never know; the Republic Fighter Tank is a perfect example of a set that came way out of left field and isn’t based on any recent media. AotC is probably the most likely, but I wouldn’t put money on it before we see the set. Quote
