I still believe (based on nothing but gut instinct) that the rumored price for this set is a typo and it is not $530, but $350, which is exactly the price of the Cantina.

I agree, unless it is not an MBS set after all, there are not really many places that could justify such a high cost, in addition 530 is also the Australian price, so there are multiple opportunities there for a mistake to somehow occur.

I really thought 75339 was the mysterious Trash Compactor from the new quote line. It seems to be now a store exclusive (E.g., Target) so I doubt it’s this. That leads to two questions: does the trash compactor exist, and secondly what on earth is this set!

And Lego would be insane to rerelease a MBS/Playset-style Death Star only 2 years out from one being on the shelf for 12 years in a row.

Why would that be insane? The last UCS Death Star directly followed the retirement of the preceding UCS Death Star. They both clearly sold very well considering each was in production 2-3x the lifespan of other UCS sets.

Nuremberg is going online?

I didn't remember the toy fair thing and thought this was in regards to the other famous Nuremberg congregation, which got me very confused for a second as to what lego star wars had to do with the Nuremburg trials.

I suppose so, everything is nowadays.

$530 makes no sense for a UCS Death Star. There’s no value of that as opposed to a $350 to $400 version of it, and you’re losing a lot of consumers at the higher price point. It would work just as well being the same size as the 2005 version. IMO the only things the $530 set could reasonably be (given how popular the material is, and the size of the set) are:

Jabba’s Palace/Sail Barge (A Barge works better, but the Palace is more relevant with the Book of Boba Fett)

Jedi Temple

Hoth (This is only an option because of the recent Hoth stuff. I don’t think it would need to be this expensive, but it has an outside chance of being an option.)

Endor (I don’t think this makes much sense since it would probably be Bunker+Ewok Village, and I think that works better as 2 sets instead of 1.)

And some people argue Geonosis, but there’s no way a Pentranaki Arena would come close to this price point, other potential builds are better off as standalone sets.

$530 makes total sense... the last death star was $500, and it's been 5 years, which considering the recent monstrous inflation (in the US at least), $530 isn't that bad.

As for the other options:

Palace: I doubt it, seeing as we're about to have a $100 palace set. I think they'd wait until that retires at least.

Temple and pentranaki: I don't think we'll see any prequel d2c  stuff until 2023 at the earliest, they need time to judge gunship sales.

Hoth. I mean it's possible, I suppose, but I think the most likely candidates are a death star and endor.

I mean, it was on shelves for twelve years because it sold well. And continues to sell well online, look on sites like bricklink.

Even if we were to get a prequel D2C this year (or anytime soon for that matter), I would be shocked if it was actually $530. Assuming the D2C really is $530, which I see no reason not to, then the only options that really seem feasible to me would be a new Death Star or maybe Endor, but even Endor is probably not popular enough for a $400+ set to make sense. That is of course just based on what I've personally seen, maybe the Endor stuff is a lot more popular than I suspect, but my guess is if it's $530 it's got to be something even a casual Star Wars fan would think looked interesting.

Honestly, a new Death Star would certainly make sense in a lot of regards. The only thing that makes it a bit more uncertain is that the quotes line includes two death star sets in 18+ format. While it doesn't remove the possibility, having two 18+ Trash Compactors (essentially) around would be a little odd from my perspective, though definitely not impossible.

MBS?

Master Builder Series.

Essentially it's the umbrella that the playset-style UCS sets fall under.  They started using the label for the 2018 Cloud City and used it on the Cantina as well, presumably because a bunch of people were angry that the 2016 Hoth set was classified as a UCS model, so they needed a new label.  Retroactively, you could probably consider the Assault on Hoth, the original Cloud City (I believe it is technically considered a UCS set, which has always been odd to me), Ewok Village, and both Death Star playsets as "MBS" sets, and if they did do another DS in such a style, it would most likely fall under that category as well.

'Master Builder Series', LEGO's name for things like the Cantina and Cloud City that're UCS-sized but not display models. It's very important that we not talk about what exactly the difference between UCS and MBS is.

TOO LATE! MWAHAHHAHAHAHAH!  Assault on hoth is the reason for MBS's creation!

It could count against it, possibly, but I think it's not too difficult for them to have both, considering how the trash compactor is just, what, 1/16th of the death star set?

$530 is such a specific amount I have to imagine that it’s supposed to be a $350 set and they just switched a couple numbers around. It’d fit with the current $350 MBS set every two years patten.

Also, a new picture of The Skywalker Saga Character Pack has shown up on the game’s pre-order page, showing Mando and Grogu, Jyn Erso and Hunter. And according to some dataminer, the game is due for April 5th, which I’m a bit skeptical about, but the sooner, the better in my eyes. Hopefully they ramp up promotion soon regardless. Also, am I the only one thinks it’s hilarious that by the time this game comes out, a good number of the Lego sets that promote TSS on the box (particularly the summer 2020 ones) will have retired already?

I gotta say, while I'm really looking forward to the Boba's Palace set, it's such a huge wasted opportunity for it to be based on the end credits scene of Mando when there's so much more it could have had based on the show. Hopefully it's designed with expansion in mind so we can get things like Boba's room with the bacta tank and certain important characters from the show like Black K.

It does exist.

Dagobah diorama has a 20x50 base, and costs 80€. Trash Compactor has a 20x20 base. So 75342, another mystery May 40€ set, could very well be it.

I agree completely.  I really think at the price point it could only be a Jedi Temple, or maybe Yavin 4.  The thing with the temple is, it’s arguably the most iconic building throughout the prequel trilogy and to some extent the clone wars.  If the set is $530 and is MBS then that’s the only set I can think of.  Unless we got a remake of Cloud City with more detail but that’s unlikely, I wouldn’t complain though as I felt the previous Cloud City could have been done a lot better, maybe in the shape of the Death Star.

I’m hoping for more sets like the UCS AT-AT which can be displayed but also have a full interior with detail, imagine if they did that with a Star Destroyer, or the Invisible Hand.

Lego are often restricted by the material they are given with film and TV sets. As the sets take so long to develop, market and distribute they are often working from minimal material like early teasers and concept art. Just like the later Mando stuff all the sets accurate to the Boba show will be seen it wave 2 and beyond.

Honestly the cantina could easily be classed as a "UCS" set, it looks pretty much exactly like how the cantina would look, when closed up. It's not like Cloud City where its just random rooms haphazardly built into a circle-ish shape.

Could it be that the data miner mixed it up and it's actually due for May 4th? 4/5/2022 can be viewed as 2 different dates

It seems very odd not to the delay the game for that day when it's already been delayed this long.

My money is on a remake of the 2005 DS II set :shrug_oh_well: $530 seems a bit much for a MBS-style set and I doubt they’d remake the DS playset again this soon

I thought it was MBS though.

That would make more sense to me, but looks like the April date is confirmed!

For all you Cody fans, he’s a playable character in the game.

Woohoo! This is probably my most anticipated LSW release of the year in all honesty.

EDIT having now watched the trailer - I haven't played a LEGO game in a while, but the gameplay does seem quite different to what's come before - the combat especially looks more advanced. I'm intrigued, looking forward to getting it.

Although I didn't see any minikits in there... It's a minor gripe but I hope that's still what the main collectibles are, for nostalgia's sake if nothing else.

Hot damn, that looks so amazing! :oh:
This game will be very large, it seems. Definitely well worth the long wait

Thanks for sharing the trailer :sweet:

I don’t think that’s been confirmed anywhere. People just assume it’s an MBS set because the last three were released two years apart :shrug_oh_well: As us HP fans had to learn the hard way last year, release patterns aren’t always as predictable as we think they are :snicker:

Oh wow, finally something official!

It looks spectacular, can't wait for the release.
