Stauder Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Yeah right, but they don't Remember my signature pic with a semi naked woman posing with a liver in her hand? That was a promotion for organ donorship and it gave a zillion pm's from members who were actually offended at the sight of two..yes TWO...no more no less breats But my opinion is : "Post it and we'll see if it offends anyone" This is, as stated, an AFOL site and it should be possible to post adult content in here. KimT That was a liver? I honestly tought it was a movie poster of some sort... Also on a personal note, the minimum age of registration is 18, so stuff of a violent nature should theoretically be allowed. Staudie. Quote
Corvus Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 That was a liver? I honestly tought it was a movie poster of some sort... Staudie. So most of the complaints were by people who couldn't understand what it said... If they'd know what it was, they wouldn't have complained. It's a bold advertisement for a good cause. Quote
Siegfried Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 It seems that it's just me who has a problem with Manhunt. To me it isn't a matter of it being adult content, more that recently it was deemed unsuitible for anyone by most of the world prior to it being toned down. Not my style of game, but perhaps I'm just too old. And Sinner, what do you mean with the Brick Testament being something of its own? Google is your friend. Where have you been living to not know of the strong feelings that The Brick Testament can bring up? Even his post here caused some debate. Quote
yovnocrats Posted June 20, 2008 Author Posted June 20, 2008 Sinner, i don't mean to be rude, but you are sadly mis-informed about Manhunt. Manhunt 2 was labeled AO for no good reason, it was no more violent or brash than the original Manhunt, which was released, un-censored, with an M rating, with no problem or opposition. Manhunt 2 being deemed unfit by ratings boards has been pretty clearly a show of why ratings boards are inept and un-necessary in the first place. the ESRB admits to not having even played the game, they made their decision based on video samples alone. and in England it is very obvious that the game was singled out to make an example out of something to try and strengthen their own power and influence. it's really disgusting to see stuff like that. manhunt 1 was more twisted and graphic than manhunt 2 was, and it was completely uncensored and rated M right off the bat, as i mentioned. with that, i honestly don't believe you should be worried by my project at all, if it even comes to fruition. but as requested, i will be more than happy to run any images by you before i post them. Manhunt 2 was labeled AO for no good reason, it was no more violent or brash than the original Manhunt, which was released, un-censored, with an M rating, with no problem or opposition. Perhaps, but it is a fact that in the original form it had a scene with someones testicles being removed with pliers... But as I said, I seem to be the most concerned here (and I have discussed this with the rest of the staff) so don't bother running it by me. Feel free to post away... even if you do the testicle scene! But please don't get me wrong and think I dislike all violent games; I'm playing Assassins Creed at the moment which is hardly a nice game. Manhunt just seems to be violent for the sake of being violent and just isn't my style. In Australia we have a maxium rating of M for games, so anything R or above is banned. This has meant that games such as Manhunt and even Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude were not sold here. This really annoys me as I don't see why we can have R movies but not R games... Quote
yovnocrats Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 no problem, i think manhunt can be defended against not being just violent for the sake of it. the stories in the game give a reason for the violence, and in the end, it seems justified. but yeah, the games were made to be ground breakingly violent, so i can't fault you for your worry. i do not intend to do any testicle ripping well, thanks for taking the time to discuss this, i really appreciate it. Siegfried Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 well, thanks for taking the time to discuss this, i really appreciate it. Not a problem; it's my job! Now get MOCing! Quote
Siegfried Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Is my signature now inappropriate? Well, yes as this is a LEGO site, but it isn't offensive... Quote

Sir Dano Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 (edited) I was just joking. Besides, I might be getting one for Christmas. Scantily clad anime girl-potentially offensive-clicker beware. :P Edited July 5, 2008 by sir dano Quote

yovnocrats Posted July 4, 2008 Author Posted July 4, 2008 more words, from this topics infinitely wise creator. just a heads up, my project has been postponed due to lack of functioning camera, lack of funds, and lack of photoshop. i'll try to sort it out if anyone was interested in seeing it. but for now, it's on hiatus. maiq the liar Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 (edited) OH NO!! A human body... Seriously, you've got to be kidding. People should tolerate seeing two breasts. Being offended by seeing that is in my opinion sick... I couldn't have said it any better. Well, being a guy, i'm naturally fine with it, but mind you there are kids that go here...this generation is already screwed up enough with soulja boy and all that also, i can't read...what language was that? it slips my mind at the moment. i wanna think finnish but i don't think that was it. i thought it was a ad for a band or something at first. i also thought the liver was a heart (mola Ramette?). Sandy Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 If I can voice out my opinion, I believe that since this is a LEGO site oriented at mature people, it's honestly impossible to create anything greatly offensive (in terms of violence and sexuality) with minifigs. It's just impossible to get a realistic, somehow horrifying scene with them, in my opinion. If someone gets offended by a transparent red brick or an all-yellow minifig torso, then that person should seriously seek help. Now, what I do think is offensive are those pictures of skimpy manga girls that have been appearing around the forums because of a certain member. And not just because they're borderline naked, but also because they're in degrating positions and have really nothing to do with this site. So make them stop or else... *waves a rolling pin* Quote
maiq the liar Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Also, people do come on here from work... Quote

KimT It's sad that some people were against that. Though since it was not totally obvious what it was about, that was probably the problem. I think that doing a scene in LEGO makes it automatically cute. A real dismembered body is horrific, but a dismembered minifig with cute little red plate blood all over the place is strangly inoffensive. Not necessarily. I think that LEGO takes much of the edge of the scene, but I do have some objections to say, gang rape or child molestation rendered in LEGO. As to the video games: Well, most video games have violence in them. In some it is necessary (i.e. a strategy game in which you fight through historical battles.) But most video games are just violent to be violent. Manhunt, Grand Theft Auto, etc. I will admit, GTA is actually fun, but it doesn't remove my misgivings. As someone else allready said, this generation is kinda screwed up. Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Not necessarily. I think that LEGO takes much of the edge of the scene, but I do have some objections to say, gang rape or child molestation rendered in LEGO. Please... Don't give me any ideas! Quote
