CloneMe Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 I did not read the whole topic , but - will there be new Batman Sets 2009? As far as ive been reading. Probably not. Im very sad now. Ive gotten the tumbler and 2 other sets. It makes me mad. We get these crappy lines like exo force, and the agents. No one gets the spongebob sets. Star Wars wont go. Spongebobs next. Then Indy. Its what we get in return I dont know. Quote

Its what we get in return I dont know. exoforce and agents aren't licensed themes. when was the last time you saw an exoforce or agents cartoon or movie on tv or in the cinema? in case you were wondering, licensing was a recent phenomena...started with SW in 1999. the one and only runaway hit has so far been SW. it's not like they _HAVE_ to keep producing licensed themes. if the classic themes of city, castle, space, pirates, western grow to be strong hits i would guess that TLC will let all licensing expire except for maybe SW. wonder if they will renew the license in 2011. hmmm... The Brick Rat Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 I did not read the whole topic , but - will there be new Batman Sets 2009? Did you read any of the topic? If you had just read the last two posts before posting your question, you would have had your answer. Anyway, here is what Matt from the 'Legions of Gotham' website posted there about a week ago: "LEGO has confirmed for me that they are no longer making Batman product. They did indicate that the future is open, but for now they are done.Is it POSSIBLE that we'll see more from LEGO? Yes. After all, they also denied that they were going to make any Dark Knight related product as well..but we know how that turned out." So, no 2009 Batman product, but TLC is keeping the door open for the future. That would suggest that they have the Batman license through at least 2010 and maybe longer. Also, here is another post that appeared on 'Legions of Gotham' last August: I wrote the marketing guru at LEGO a lengthy letter expressing my thanks and comments on the LEGO Batman line. I will not reveal his or her name, for privacy reasons but He/She stated the following: From: Sent: Wednesday, August 27, 2008 11:56 AM To: Rick Fraga Subject: Your interest in our Batman line Dear Rick, thank you very much for your mail regarding Batman. We have seen that the new Batman film is a huge success so we looking into possibilities to do more new Batman sets. Unfortunately I can not comment more on possibly upcoming products. Regarding your Minifg questions I can only tell you that we could think about all characters you name as possible LEGO Minifg characters but also here I am not able to comment on possibly upcoming products. Hope my answers help you a little bit. Kind regards, med venlig hilsen, mit freundlichen Grüssen ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So there you have it, the best possibly maybe answer the Public Relations guru at LEGO could offer. Looking at these two quotes makes me speculate that TLC released the 2008 sets with the idea that this would be it for LEGO Batman. However, with the massive popularity of "The Dark Knight" and the online excitement leading up to the fall release of the LEGO Batman video game, they started to rethink that decision. It was too late for 2009 product, but perhaps they are working on something for a 2010 release? We can only hope. Quote
simonjedi Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 I think clayface does have a good chance of eing made into a batman set after playing lego batman. They just have to make the powerminer monster in brown to create one Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I think clayface does have a good chance of eing made into a batman set after playing lego batman. Except that TLC seems to be pulling the plug on Batman. Otherwise, yes, all it would've taken was a little paintjob. Quote
aayla-secura Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Thanks for these informations! Baah no Batman , well i hope TLG will do the right Choice , and do some Dark Knight Products! Quote
CloneMe Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Thanks for these informations!Baah no Batman , well i hope TLG will do the right Choice , and do some Dark Knight Products! Yah same here. Its sad that this is happening. It dosent make any sence though. They just released the batman game too. And the clay face thing really sounds good. They could still get some sets out of it. Quote
Justin Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I know that LEGO Batman is about to be discontinued, but I do not see LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Indiana Jones, or LEGO SpongeBob SquarePants being discontinued anytime soon. It is a shame that they are discontinuing LEGO Batman. SpongeBob SquarePants is still quite popular with both kids and adults, the LEGO sets won't be discontinued anytime soon. Another reason why LEGO SpongeBob SquarePants won't be discontinued: SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS IS CELEBRATING HIS 10th ANNIVERSARY NEXT YEAR! And LEGO signed a long-term contract with Nickelodeon. Star Wars and Indiana Jones are also quite popular, thanks to the popularity of both movie franchises. I guess LEGO's contract with Warner Bros. has expired, so that probably means no more Batman, Harry Potter, or Speed Racer for next year. At least the Batman sets were fun while they lasted. Out with the old... ...In with the new! Quote
randomparrot Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I think clayface does have a good chance of eing made into a batman set after playing lego batman. CloneMe Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Couldn't they just make a piece that slides over a normal body like this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=sw075 I never thought of that. Thats a really good idea. Quote
Pencoin Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 I'm surprised alot of people didn't realise that because the first time I saw Clayface thats what I thought. I think TLC killed LEGO Batman by doing to many vehicles. Quote
daxflame680 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I think TLC killed LEGO Batman by doing to many vehicles. Agreed. We never really got any sets other than the bat-(insert name of vehicle Quote
Dadster Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I think clayface does have a good chance of eing made into a batman set after playing lego batman. They just have to make the powerminer monster in brown to create one Whoa! Brilliant thinking! He'd come out a little shorter than Bats, but it would definitely be close enough. Quote
Eskallon Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I think we can start to give up on batman now as it is official it is going but look on the bright side, if speed racer and batman are going we may get 2 more new licensed themes for 2009. I personally hope lego quickly get a license for harry potter before the sixth film comes out. Why did they get rid of that license. Quote
Pencoin Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 It didn't sell. Also It seems unlikely we will get new lisense because we having seen anytihng yet (but we most 2009 sets) and lisenses usually get revealed early to build hype. Quote
Light Light Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Quick question. Since TLG right now has no intention of continuing the Batman line, I've been attempting to make my own versions on the new villains featured in the game. Are there any DS owners who have this game and can suppy pictures of the Lego versions of Firefly and the Ventriloquist and Scarface? Quote

Ashoka Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Hi, sorry I wish to clarify what has been said here in terms of The Batman line, It is definite that there will be no sets in 2009 however because of the sucess of the game and dark knight movie, they may want to bring it back in 2010? Sorry, I have not been following this topic, I have read the last 7 pages, and there seem to be lots of different answers, and I just wish to clarify what is concrete, if anything at all. Thank you, Ashoka Quote
Light Light Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Are you telling us this? Or are you just asking? Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Ashoka seems to be asking. Remove the question marks though, and it's all fact (as far as we know). No new Batman sets in 2009, but there's no definitive long-term cancellation announced. Quote
Ashoka Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Thanks for clarifying that Mr Spielbrick but... No!!! Please dont cancell the Batman theme TLG! Batman is my favourte theme, we only got 3 waves of sets, we need more! Ashoka~ Quote
