???theriddler??? Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 XD i have all the sets exept for one, and i mean a BIGGER and better hideout! Quote
Batbrick Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Ah Batbrick...I'd hardly call that a hideout...it's a fence lol. But I know what you mean.I want a Riddler set to consist of Batman, Riddler, Tree and Pool Table, with the following riddle attatched. "What's green, brown and if it fell out of a tree, it'd kill you?" Sad I know, but how awesome would a small set like that be? , yes, but I did like the gate....sort of... That is a pretty corny riddle, but I agree that a small set containing more objects would be cooler. BUT in my opinion lego is not doing it in the right way, it just doesn't adapt the feeling of what batman means to me. It should be more dark and less focused on vehicles (I know it's what kids want, but even Indy has great playsets). The vehicles are way too big, ridiculously big. It is just too much, an overflow of power and impression. The first penguin sub was perhaps one of the best vehicles lego came out with in the past 5 years, the newer one doesn't catch the feeling of mistery, darkness and well.. "legoism". Batman always meant something like "film noir" to me, like Sin City. Dark, ironic, comic-like and with a stark focus on the city itself. The first sets captured that feeling more than the later ones, also there is a lack of quality when you compare them to SW or Indy (due to the smaller turnover perhaps). Also the short movies of the first sets gave a darker and therefore better feel of Gotham City and the whole theme, an atmosphere that the trailers of the new videogame weren't able to provide. It would be nice to have smaller vehicles (not bikes and buggies but real vehicles in lego scale, like the Indy vehicles), darker atmosphere, city impressions (playsets) and better detail and quality. That's just my opinion or wish, easy to see that lego tries to change the line in a complete different direction, due to poor sales obviously. I agree to an extent, for instance, I'd easily put the new Penguin sub over the old one, and I don't feel either had a feeling of misery or darkness as you say. Lego can't go too dark, and I think you are exaggerating the first wave, as the upcoming videogame is very dark for a Lego game like the shorts. However, I agree we need more focus on the city, but i think there should still be small to medium sets like the Batmobile and Batboat, but the larger ones I think need to be done as city sets with the tone of the original Arkham. but i don't want guys from the DCU like nightwing... they don't fit to this... Er, why not Nightwing? He IS in the world of Batman, he is Dick Grayson, the first Robin I would love it if they'd make a set from Mask of the Phantasm, especially of the fight between the Joker and the Phantasm in the Gotham World's Fairgrounds. That would be phantastic (sorry), the Phantasm fig would look amazing, and it'd be awesome to get Joker's home with Hazel, meatloaf and jetpack Batbrick Away! Quote
Wilhelm screamer Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) A green house for Poison Ivy to hide in (with gear activated plant-spikes that burst out the walls) would be very good. Bane could join her in there (unlikely), I recall seeing a bat-movie were they work together. For batman, he could have some kind of back pack with a chainsaw arm and weedkiller sprayer to fight his way past the dangerous fauna. Edited June 24, 2008 by Wilhelm screamer Quote
CaptainAntilles Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Er, why not Nightwing? He IS in the world of Batman, he is Dick Grayson, the first Robin Yeah, i know. But i don't like him anyway^^. Robin is a lot better imo. A green house for Poison Ivy to hide in Er - you're right. I've forgotten Ivy in my list above. She's a great enemy of Batman and she can't be missed in LEGO Batman! Quote

That was Batman and Robin, one of the worst moives....ever But good idea, I tihnk a small set with a greenhouse for Ivy (with Mandrake heads!) would be very cool, and I like the idea of Batman having a weed killer spray. Yeah, i know. But i don't like him anyway^^. Robin is a lot better imo. I don't think that makes much sense sorry, as just because you don't like him doesn't mean he shouldb't belong, he is a major character, plus, you say this about Poison Ivy: She's a great enemy of Batman and she can't be missed in LEGO Batman! This also applies to Nightwing (except "Hero" not "Villain") As much as I know people deride vehicles, I think Riddler's set should be a Riddler car with question mark stickers, just so he can have his own vehicle too. Batbrick Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Are you trying to seduce me? Would you like me to? Ah Batbrick...I'd hardly call that a hideout...it's a fence lol. But I know what you mean. More of a gate actually, but I get your point. Sad I know, but how awesome would a small set like that be? Oh, I don't know. It's no worse than some of the ones we had in the 60s TV series... never heard of the hammer girl anyway BUT in my opinion lego is not doing it in the right way, it just doesn't adapt the feeling of what batman means to me. Remember though, that for many people, Batman was the 50s 'Batman and his ridiculously big Bat-family vs aliens and strange transformations' or the 60s TV series. Even the 70s Batman wasn't excessively dark. Remember also that Batman has always had a large and impressive array of vehicles, so vehicle sets aren't a bad thing in my book. That would be phantastic (sorry), the Phantasm fig would look amazing, and it'd be awesome to get Joker's home with Hazel, meatloaf and jetpack Oh dear... you're getting like me. Quote
Big T Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Yes Brainbox it is really a gate, but it makes my point less impactful when you add that much truth to the recipie I'd probably get it if it wasn't so expensive to be honest Quote
Brainbox Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I'd probably get it if it wasn't so expensive to be honest It's the Bat-tank that does it. I think it's worth the price though, it's pretty impressive. Shame those treads are really boring to put together... Quote
Batbrick Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Would you like me to? I'll get back to you on that. Oh, I don't know. It's no worse than some of the ones we had in the 60s TV series... Which is why we siplmy must get some 1960's elements in future sets like your oft mentioned Adam West batman! Which is why I certainly respect the Lego Line for blending these elements together, retaining a dark feel but also adding lighter touches like anything Harley related, Penguin's, wel penguins ( ) and of course the great minicomics. Oh dear... you're getting like me. I'm scared, hold me! That said, I really do want the line to go back to its 2006 roots with a heavier emphasis on comic throwbacks like the Batcave dinosaur and faithful villain weapons and whatnot. Not ot say tihs line doesn't do that, but it just isn't as cool, and both BB's want a Batcave extension. Batbirck Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I'll get back to you on that. I'm scared, hold me! Shall I take that as a yes? Which is why we siplmy must get some 1960's elements in future sets like your oft mentioned Adam West batman! Exactly. I'll try and pack some into my Batcave when I get round to working on it. I wouldn't mind an Alf-cycle... and both BB's want a Batcave extension. Yes! With lots of nice areas for Bat-investigations, Bat-repairs and Bat-training. Batbirck Away! Who? Quote

It can go on the ever increasing list of things to buy (many now Bat-related) then hopefully my wallet can take the abuse I really hope the next Joker we get (I think he'll become the main villan as far as lego reproduction) comes with a hat like the Batbrick mod one, I still have my fingers crossed for a Joker Carnival Quote
Batbrick Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Shall I take that as a yes? Yes! With lots of nice areas for Bat-investigations, Bat-repairs and Bat-training. The great thing is it could be marketed under a new set name like the Bathangar or Batlab! Plus, that way we could extend the space with official sets so we would have more room for vehicles. Who? I've been doing that a bit recently... It can go on the ever increasing list of things to buy (many now Bat-related) then hopefully my wallet can take the abuseI really hope the next Joker we get (I think he'll become the main villan as far as lego reproduction) comes with a hat like the Batbrick mod one, I still have my fingers crossed for a Joker Carnival Very good point actually, I reckon Joker will be TLC's main continuing villain, hopefully as you say he gets a fedora and new torso. A Joker Carnival is a must really, could come with the pet hyenas (ha-haciendas) and a couple of henchmen. I also think a Bank is on order, the second national bank being robbed by Twoi-Face, his henchman (making two of them) and another villain. Batbrick Away! Quote
Scyzoryk Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 2 words: Teen Titans. No seriously. Beast Boy anyone? That would be cool. Teen Titans is part of Batman in a way, right? You have Robin, that's Batman. And in one episode (I don't watch TT but I saw it a couple time) you have Robin as Nightwing in the future trying to change the past. Also another thing I would love to see is sets from the movie Batman vs Dracula. I'm not a big Batman fan, but after I saw that movie, it changed how I look at the series. It's sooo awesome. A better dracula fig, not like that weird one in the Studios set. Better Penguin fig. A better Joker fig, using the purple exo force hair (thats how he looks like in the movie, messy, spikey hair) and a blood thirsty face. Quote
SWMAN Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 (edited) Honestly, I do not think Batman will last much longer. I am kind of surprised that Lego is coming out with the video game. Lego Batman was cool, but I think it has lost its appeal. If you look at lego.com, they only have the new batman sets. If they are already not selling sets from last year, maybe they weren't that popular. I have a felling that like a lot of themes, Batman will soon see the end of its days. even after only a few years. Just like Harry Potter, I have a feeling that the strong start, and even the video game, will not be able to keep lego from releasing fewer sets every year, until none come at all. Pencoin Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 i agree, i too think LEGO Batman is a dying breed Quote
Canticleer blues Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Not really. Batman is a very popular franchise; it wouldn't just up and die in the same way Harry Potter did. Plus, there's actually more sets than last year, remember? That's an increase, not a decrease there. The video game will also help with sales too- just look at what it did to Lego Indiana Jones' already strong sales. Quote

It makes sense, especially since I'm sure they'll want to capitalise on any post-Dark Knight hype (much in the same way I'm sure the Tumbler is meant to capitalise on the pre hype) to the point it almost wouldn't surprise me if they did one as an end of year exclusive as an Arkham sized set. The carnival would give the designers plenty of little options and tidbits to add onto it, and would catch both Batman and city fans (as I'm sure city fans would like to mod it for a regulation...non evil carnival) A bank is a must. Not only would it be a great way to re-release Two-Face, but they've built them before, so no new parts would really be needed, and at this point the Villans have nowhere to really strike other than Arkham and the Batcave (which it's really that profitable if you ask me, even though a black market Batmobile would sell for a bit) To Scyzoryk's post: I think a movie Joker would new a whole new hair to be properly accurate, as it's not really spikey so much as it is messy and grungy. It'd be interesting to see how they did it, as that figure might just be a little too dark for Lego (all things considering Heath's take on the Joker) but I too would love to have a Lego-ised Dark Knight Joker... I'm not really interested in seeing any figs frm that movie, especially since it is based on a series that essentially says "stuff you!" to the comics material. We wouldn't get blood on figs anyway, nor a Dracula as Lego is basing their line more on the mythos and Dracula would be very random. Honestly, I do not think Batman will last much longer. I am kind of surprised that Lego is coming out with the video game. Lego Batman was cool, but I think it has lost its appeal. If you look at lego.com, they only have the new batman sets. Just like Harry Potter, I have a feeling that the strong start, and even the video game, will not be able to keep lego from releasing fewer sets every year, until none come at all. I would disagree, there are more sets this year than last year, and I'm seeing them fly off the shelves faster than the Indy sets where I live. Coupled with the game coming out this year should really boost its popularity. Also, Harry Potter failed because its dependency on a single location and movies grounded it too much while Batman doesn't have that. The bank as you say would be fairly easy for Lego to make but also very good for City fan, as a larger set it would be a good opportunity to introduce more characters. Your right about that, he was suicidal and blood-thirsty in B vs D. And he looks WAY creepier in The Dark Knight.Batman vs. Dracula -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Dark Knight Gotta say, I'd love a DK fig, it might be possible as he doesn't have blood on his face or anything, and Lego have done scarred before. As for the other Joker, I can't stand him, so ugly and well, un-Joker like, I really hope the Lego license doesn't extend that way and since the series is now finished I don't think it will. Batbrick Away! Quote
popkids Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I don't know very much about the world of Batman, so most of these suggested villains' names don't mean anything to me But I'm surprised that we haven't seen Batgirl or Commissioner Gordon yet, as they were in the 90s series of movies. And how about a pack of Gotham police vehicles and officers, perhaps styled after those in Batman Returns, otherwise Batman and the boy wonder will be in real danger of being hopelessly outnumbered! But I would support the ideas of villains' hideouts which riff on their characteristics, ie giant playing cards for the Joker, a greenhouse for Poison Ivy etc. Could be fantastic parts packs Quote
Tom_castlefan Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 If they expanded into the rest of the DC universe, I may consider collecting this theme. I would love a green arrow minifig - probably due to my liking of both archery and classic forestmen Tom Quote
tin7_creations Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 (edited) I think that the biggest "thing" for Lego Batman are the minifigs. Based on the screenshots of the game, most of the minifigs that I want have been designed for Lego. However, will they actually be made? Since new molds aren't cheap. These are some of the ones I can see that do not require new molds: Mad Hatter Commissioner James Gordon The ones that do require new molds would be: Batgirl Clayface Man-Bat Other figs that I'd like to see, that aren't in the game: Black Mask Ra's al Ghul As for buildings, I would so love it if they could stop with the vehicles. We need some more iconic Batman buildings besides Arkham Asylum: Gotham PD with it's Bat signal Iceberg Lounge Wayne Manor I'd love it if they made these buildings in The Dark Knight style, which would be more modern, since the ones made by TLG seem to focus on the Batman: The Animated Series show. They answered are calls in 2008 and gave us Harley Quinn, please TLG, have mercy and give us Gordon and Batgirl, and more rogues, Batman won't be complete without more Rogues to fight!
