howitzer Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Ok, if these things are true this set is starting to sound like a definite buy for me. Quote

There's a glimpse of the changeover catch with the clutch 20z gear on the left and 16z gear on the right. Or a distribution box for winch or dump tipper. Like it was in 42029 pickup. Quote

So I think that grey part is a small linear actuator not a shock absorber. You can see the red changeover catch + axle w. ball for the distribution box right underneath the front mudguard. The dump tipper is activated by the LBG lever with the red 2L pin connector (lower middle pic). Maybe you can free the winch ratched mechanism? Quote
weavil Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Looking at it, it appears to 3 pivot axles. Closer inspection looks like new shocks on the back axles. Quote

Yeah, now I think so, too. In the lower right pic, you see the back axles both tilted to one side, ruling out my intended mechanism. Maybe normal soft shocks are used, just mounted low on the axle to make space for the dump bed. Quote
Akbalder Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 If there is a gear box, it can be just to change the speed of the winch (like on 42094). Quote
Jurss Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Looks like best technic set for 2022, as really technic, and something interesting, littlebit different. But won't buy it, as it looks buildable from parts I have. Quote
Pato Sentado Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 The best 2022 set to date. The price seem correct to me, compared to 50€ for the push engine ones Quote

Furthermore, I don't get what makes you guys think that the gearbox would control anything other than the engine speed. The clutch is situated right under the engine, so the gears that the clutch gears engage with must be right on the engine shaft, seems like they are at its two ends. Furthermore, the selector itself must be on the side (as it can neither be above or under the clutch). There wouldn't be space for any other setup as far as I can see. Or do you see something that I don't? Edited December 15, 2021 by gyenesvi Quote
Johnny1360 Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 I think the thing I like most is that it should look just fine without stickers, always a plus in my book. I am starting to actually liking this thing, even with that front axle setup, lol. Quote

To me they look like the front wheel shock absorbers from the Ducati but the outer casing is DBG instead of golden. Quote

Those are waaaay too long for such a model. Any shocks used in this model are soft 6,5 stud long ones. Quote

Dami Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 In RacingBrick new video, at small photo with tipping function, I clearly see 2 diffrentials at the back, so, we can be happy guys. Quote

blondasek Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 It is just an amazing parts pack. For ~50 euro it will be a must have :) For the nominal price it is just amazing for the play too! I feel that 2-3 copies for me will be sufficient :D Quote
Kostq Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Here come the small-scale trial-truck frenzy after this gets released. Quote
imvanya Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 (edited) One of the first things that ocurred to me when I saw this set was "This would make a great part pack for a Borderlands 2 Bandit Technical MOC". Of course, the Borderlands truck has independent suspension on both axles, so the wishbones, steering and all that would have to come from somwhere else. But otherwise 42139 already looks somewhat similar. Edited December 16, 2021 by imvanya Edited for clarity Quote
Kostq Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I don't see wishbones in the Lego set. Only pendular axles. Quote

If you decide to build the MOC with idependent suspension, the missing parts would have to be sourced from other sets or bought separately. Edited my post for clarity. Quote

From my experience testing the tyres on my mini trophy truck, the balloon version has a much better traction. The model is able to acelerate faster, climb better and pull higher G forces (over 1g) when cornering with balloon ones. Back on topic, I'm pleasantly surprised Lego used 6 shock absorbers, they could easily just use 2 to keep the whole model upright like in the Wrangler. Edited December 16, 2021 by Zerobricks Quote
