I consider myself an advanced F1 fan, trying to understand technical solutions and reading the regulations.

Releasing an accurate 2022 car before time would leak critical information about the real car approach: wheelbase, sidepods lenght or floor sides, and more important, suspension setup. This year cars rely on floor effect, as in the 80s, and the new 18"" wheels will make suspensions differently.

Up to date, we have only seen a real car, the Aston Martin.

On the other side, the livery and the colours change from race to race, sometimes to adapt to artificial lightning in night desert races, or they do special liveries for a certain event, such as Monaco, an anniversary or the release of a movie. So it can change later.

Embargo dates and times in general are under embargo as well, but reviews are usually available before the official launch of the set so you'll be able to watch them before pulling the trigger :)

Great! I've already decided I'm still going to get it. The Livery issue and current supposed lack of functions dont bother me to much, I just think the aesthetics are cool. Cant wait for your video!

I hope someone didn’t violate an embargo date

I just posted this video on the LAN (LEGO Ambassador Network). I don't think Brick Depot has an embargo date

Maybe it's because of the color settings in the video - but it looks nice. So even though I won't buy it -> I'm sure I get new desktop wallpapers from your review :X

Well, I won't be doing a review of this set. So you will have to get that wallpaper elsewhere

Why not?

We didn't get an offer for this set. Usually I contact TLG to ask why not (sometimes it's just a simple mistake), but since I have zero time for another review at the moment, I haven't asked.

Oh my laaawd, the discs on wheels are sticky stickers...:pir_wacko: I don't care much for F1, but I like the colour scheme and seems as a good panels pack + some other candy... if only the price would be resonable...

Just what I thought: this set has less than 10 gears and is almost a functional copy of 42000 grand prix racer.

Such innovation, many wow. :pir-murder:

No B-model, no opening parts, just a few new frames and panels.

And than the price. €180. What a giant rip-off.

I just don't understand Lego Technic anymore. I must be getting old or something.

Please, someone explain this to me.

THere really is nothing to explain.  Technic is changing, which isn't really all that bad of news.  They come out with some great new elements fairly frequently.  For folks that feel this way I recommend just to stop buying sets for sets sake (lol...) and more for the pieces.  I think AFOLs who are bored with official sets (I have been for quite a while now) need a paradigm shift.   Official sets are parts packs; not something to build and be excited about.

At least for me this paradigm shift works.  I can think of a lot of fun things to do with those tasty panels; none of which actually include building the set.

It's not even a copy of 42000, that one had opening hood, DRS and hand of god steering and a b model. And considering all the design flaws, I see no value proposition whatsoever. I can't believe how Lego is asking 180 euros for this with a straight face. I just got myself a silver champion to soften the blow lol. New Technic does nothing for me anymore.

I remember the last time TLG ran into financial issues, one reason was they had a bloated range and also kept making new specific parts. Right now those 2 things are happening again.

I guess the difference is, that in late 90s they tried to establish a lot of own trade-marks and themes with very theme-specific parts and kept going even though it did not sell well, but "now" it's mostly about licenses, the new parts are still a lot more versitile and bad running products get removed more quickly. It's much more market oriented now - for the good and the bad...

Indeed. Also in the late 90's-early 00's there was an uncontrolled explosion of new colours - some totally pointless - which made logistics costly. It seems that they are much more in control of their stuff now, and there's a better picture of the whole operation.

---

The set is exactly what I expected it to be, an empty shell of a car. Very nice parts pack, if you're into those, but I think I'll get my new parts as necessary from B&P/Bricklink rather than from this set.

Brick Depot has to keep the same embargo's as every RLFM member because they represent the whole chain of certified LEGO stores in Romania.

Okay, I wasn't sure whether they were part of the LAN. But if they found the set in a store, the embargo is automatically lifted. But they ARE the store?

I agree with others that these parts (at least in technic) are not too specific, they are quite reusable, and we are not yet having too much of them (though I'd prefer more new basic structural parts than new panels). Some older parts were much more weird and one-off in terms of usability.

Yes. I am currently living in Romania and BrickDepot is a Franchise Lego network in whole Romania. They do have a few stores in every major cities + website with VIP card and points, GWP, etc.. That YT channel is also theirs. They were the one who provided the Osprey to some of us, i.e. Sariel.

I counted 7 gears+1 gear rack and 61 individual stickers! There is not even a gear reduction between engine and differential. :(
It's a pity they let again Lars Krogh Jensen design such a set, same as last years heavily criticized Ferrari and the Porsche 911 RSR. After all he was also behind the awesome Cargo Plane or the legendary 8297 Off-roader.

Thanks for the explanation. I wasn't aware of this. But that probably means they have opened a set which shouldn't be for sale yet.
