Probably you're right. However, I simply don't like that "realistic" look... I love my models to look shiny and new, like fresh from the factory.

yea thats a good point. ofcourse lego should make all their parts the same color. in person with my models i have never noticed it too much but it is a bit anoying when you are going for the out of factory look.

That's some great progress there, Sven. She's looking realistically massive and ungainly.

I hear what you're saying about colour variation. I guess it's unavoidable but it is a pain in the neck if you're trying to get a uniform finish. Some colours do seem to be worse for it than others, but I'm surprised that regular blue seems to be made up so many shades.

Your tower-on-wheels is certainly coming together nicely; unless you'd pointed out the subtle colour variation I don't think I'd have noticed it.

I like the inclusion of the 4-juniors figure - at the risk of revealing my age, that one came with the first LEGO set I owned ! And is that the yellow of an LED I spy behind the headlamps...?

Cokeries work day and night, so the locomotive needs illumination.
But of course there has to be a… well, can’t really call it „overhead“ wire… let’s say some sort of electrical power supply to turn the lights on. Here it is :

In the next days I'll make a short video of the model in motion, and then the engine is ready for submission.
I hope you like it despite its bizarre appearance!

its appearance actually makes it look quite nice to me it kinda looks like someone had taken my/ @Paperinik77pks e69 and stretched it a little! it is just not something you see every day

Yes, it's of course the same generation of electric locomotives. But compared to my cokery engine (5.530 mm length over buffers), even the E69 is a real giant...

thats true ofcourse! and much more powerful at over 800 hp... i ment mire terms of the heght relative to the lenght/ whith

The more i see it, the more I like it!!! The internal details - the overall engineering (it's practical too!!!) , the great ability you have  to show a detail with a simple part. 

Not to mention that trolley which seems so...correct and so...well made!  Best luck in the contest, Sven!

Maybe, but I'm not sure. I'm more interested in locomotives than in waggons.

By chance I found an interesting old educational film. I'm quite certain that it shows the "Zeche Sachsen" cokery, and my little locomotive can be seen, too (from ca. 10:00).
Compared to the factory drawing (see my first post), it has lost its buffers at one end, and the platform beside the cab has been enlarged and fitted with another stairway for direct access to the coke oven battery:

Just a few hours before the deadline, I just entered my model in the OcTRAINber contest.
And, as promised, I also made a short video - here it is:

OK, the ore waggon doesn’t really fit, but it’s the only self-unloading car I have, so it has to suffice. After all, it’s just to demonstrate that the locomotive is really able to pull some kind of load… ;-)

That's fantastic!! Thanks for finding all that extra detail to put your excellent build into it's context. 

Given how short the process is, you are in that rare position of being able to build an entire railway system and operate it. I think maybe you should consider modelling the wagon also, as it's quite an interesting prototype in it's own right. But I respect your decision if you choose not to.

The more I think about it, the more I like the thought...
However, I don't think that I'll build it any time soon, for two reasons:
First, I'm running out of space to store more models, not to speak of displaying them adequately. Second, I've been tinkering with my Swedish S1 loco and its wooden passenger train for more than a year now, and I think I should get this one finished before starting yet another project.
Maybe for next year's OcTRAINber...

Lets hope the guys over at BMR are listening-in to your thoughts. 

Good work on your locomotive. The entire process has been a learning experience for me. I'd never heard of coke quenching locomotives before. Seeing your progress has been fun as well. Best of luck.
