ZCerberus Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 This is my first castle MOC I am not much of a landscaper, and I did not really pose this thing. Or what not... but I think it turned out pretty well. Folder when public Brickshelf folder Quote
MacK Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 You should build more castle creations soon, as that is very well done. The two main towers look really good because of the details you've put into them the windows and random bricks on the sides look very good. The top areas of both the towers and the main structure look a little bit plain so it would be benefical if their was a bit more detail. Its a shame that you didn't do any landscaping for it, do you have any plans to build more to add on to the gate house? Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 So, you turned to the darkside and gave up on pirates.... Nice work Z! Are you planning on adding some stuff around it? Quote
El Bucanero Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Why is your MOC expert tag still not there? You certainly deserve it. Wonderful gatehouse!! First pirates, then vikings, and now this. You're quite a versatile builder ain't ya! Quote
KimT Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 That's one awesome MOC. I especially like the use of tiles to add some greebles. That thing is really huge. My only problem is that the top of the towers might be a little too low; the figs are well below and thus it's hard for them to shoot arrows and whathaveyou at unfriendly guests. KimT Quote
Matn Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Woah! That's awesome. I really like the towers and the gate, also nice how you can get off the roof on the back. It looks really like the current Castle theme, but built bigger and way cooler. You should put this on some baseplates and then add greenery and trees to it, it will look marvelous. Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 You need to build more castle stuff, that is great. I don’t know if this’ll make scene to anyone else but it looks very heavy and weighty. The scale is great as is the detailing, now if you just finish the wall and build the whole castle…. Quote
BlueBard Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Nice and pretty job! I really like the way you did the towers, they are very... "round" LOL Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 18, 2008 Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 18, 2008 This is impressive Z. I can see a lot of techniques in this MOC that you've used in your pirate creations. I get the impression that this is part 1 of a modular castle. Right? Quote
Quarryman Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Very nice MOC I like how you've used the dark grey tiles to break up the large light grey areas, it works very well. And you added a great interior too, and assuming Bonaparte is correct; I'm looking forward to subsequent parts of this castle. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 That is an amazing Castle MOC, ZCerberus! Very, very well done! Klaus-Dieter Quote
Norro Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Very, very nice! The crownies seem to be drawing new blood into the castle sphere. I love the height ratio, composition, and all round 'cleanness'. Great work and God Bless, Nathan Quote
Adam Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Your first castle MOC, eh? Well, I advise you to keep doing more, because that is the best castle MOC I have ever seen. Seriously. Those towers are perfectly done. from me. Quote
ZCerberus Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 Thanks all!! This is impressive Z.I can see a lot of techniques in this MOC that you've used in your pirate creations. I get the impression that this is part 1 of a modular castle. Right? Though I am quite low on bley bricks now... there maybe a wall section of seven finished as well... Quote
Tom_castlefan Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 I love this. I bookmarked the page, and hope to use some of your technique in my own creations, as I too am currently working on a gatehouse. However, I will not outright copy it, and if I get around to posting pictures, I'll make sure to give credit where its due. Brilliant model, hope to see more from you in the future. Tom :) Quote
ZCerberus Posted June 23, 2008 Author Posted June 23, 2008 I love this. However, I will not outright copy it, and if I get around to posting pictures, I'll make sure to give credit where its due. Brilliant model, hope to see more from you in the future. Tom :) Thanks Tom! That is the whole point of sharing, to get ideas from each other and use them on out own creations! Why is your MOC expert tag still not there? Looks like you got your wish! MOC Expert Added! Thanks! First pirates, then vikings, and now this. You're quite a versatile builder ain't ya! You might also want to take a look at the space and mecha forum for a special project I just wrapped up! My only problem is that the top of the towers might be a little too low; the figs are well below and thus it's hard for them to shoot arrows and whathaveyou at unfriendly guests. I had it at two bricks tall, but that seemed too low... they can still shoot over the wall but as you have noticed, it is quite difficult to shoot downward. The floors of the tops of the towers are removeable so instead of making the wall lower, I might just jack up the floor 1 or 2 plates! thanks for the suggestion! So, you turned to the darkside and gave up on pirates.... Though I can sense the sarcasm I would like to say I will NEVER give up on pirates! Quote
