Ok, so supposedly, according to bricks by mind, much like ninjago crystalized, you get all the unique weapon parts in a bag, and you can grab your parts and make all of the weapons, cool

Yeah. Waiting for all reviews to come out then I’m gonna speak my thoughts, but so far, it’s a very solid wave. I love every set and the combo mech and the hideout are locked in as day one buys.

Just saw some video reviews of the Yellow Tusk Elephant and Monkie Kid's Team Hideout. There's a lot of fun easter eggs in the hideout—I spotted Tim from TIme Cruisers and the ancient Chinese Infomaniac who also appeared on a sticker in the City of Lanterns.

Seeing how those ink monsters use catapults, bows and cannons, hopefully there will be some sort of main fortress for them, would be really cool to see some black and gold asian castle type build.

According to Brickipedia the first Monkie Kid sets were released in May 2020...   So what's this date an Easter Egg for?

And is the red M from another theme? Or is it M for Monkey? I wonder why this village has tech if it's set in the distant past?

! s-l500

I wonder if season 4 will give us more info on what Mo is? An ordinary cat that was a kitten in the Ming Dynasty (assuming the sets are involving time travel) shouldn't still be alive in the modern era without mystic monkey business.

The Yellow Tusk Elephant looks different enough from Ganesh for Lego to not get hit with a lawsuit right? I mean he doesn't have a missing tusk.

I remember when MIMP had to withdraw an elephant headed toy, but they did call that one Ganesha so hopefully because MK's elephant isn't claiming to be Ganesh/Ganesha, there's no grounds for complaint?

https://monsterinmypocket.fandom.com/wiki/Ganesha#:~:text=Ganesha is monster %2362 from, origin in Indian religious views.

I think it’s time for a new thread to be created. You know, it’s an in-house theme, not licensed, when there are leak/rumor/offical reveal…

Not me just noticing now that this is still the 2022 thread.

Yeah, with the full first wave of sets revealed and starting to be reviewed, it's long past time for a 2023 thread!

In the monkie kid team hideout, there’s a hover bike, could it be a reference to the monkie kid delivery bike?

I mean, they're both delivery bikes with the same colour scheme. They both have Pigsy's Noodles takeout boxes on the back

I'm not sure, but a lot of the time, date-formatted easter eggs like that have nothing to do with the theme itself—many of them are things like birthdays or other significant dates for the designers who worked on the set. This set was designed by Justin Ramsden (set designer), Xiaodong Wen (concept direction), and Paul Turcanu (graphic design), so presumably it might have some significance for one of them.

Zhu Bajie and Bull Demon King just arrived. I was hoping Zhu Bajie's hat would be removable so I could put it on the 2023 Pigsy when I get him, but it's moulded to the head. I'm still pretty happy with them though, the drum lacquered looking parts seem like Lego quality and their arms are on mini Mixels style ball joints so their arms are more poseable than your average Lego minifig. I might order Tripitaka/Tang Sanzang, Sha Wujing and Wukong.

Just finished watching @DuckBricks mega review, thank you so much for the insight into the new wave. I am loving the combi mech and also the fact that it does come with the mecha-kid figure that I was gonna get from brick link. The modularity of the hideout also makes it a day one buy, and I like the theories presented about how this will tie into the plot for season 4. I have noticed in your video and in other LAN member videos that there are parts of the monkie kid soundtrack in the background, which im hoping you can provide some clarity about how you got it? i've been searching for the soundtrack and have emailed wild bark and the DA office, who apparently made the music, and have had no reply from either. I really think one of the best parts abut monkie kid is the shows soundtracks, and its a shame there isn't a full release, which I have been pushing for for some time. Would you be able to tell us anything about it, if it's getting released or if it's a LAN thing? Again, thank you for the review, I'm glad to see one of the few large lego youtubers get their hands on monkie kid, especially someone who is so passionate about the line.

God, your post intrigued me so I went to look up his review... his Lego space (walked through at the beginning) is UNREAL. I've literally been to the Lego Idea House in Denmark and it STILL looks like he has more Lego displayed in one space than I've ever seen! I am simply in awe.

The impression I get from his videos is that he lives with his parents and they've given him the full basement of the house for his collection, which seems to consist of everything Lego ever releases. I think not having to run his own household helps him to have the disposable income to buy every set and to travel to all kinds of specialised Lego retailers around the world.

Either way it’s very impressive and he’s a great YouTuber, someone who is very passionate about Lego and I enjoy seeing his vids. I’d be very proud of having anything close to that scale. Does anyone have any info on MK soundtracks? Hopefully we get a release soon.

Even so—the amount of work put into the organization and display is stunning. My own collection is certainly nowhere near as organized, and even if I had all the space in the world I don't know if my ADHD would allow me to put together a display that impressive.

I know some of the artists and directors behind the show have done a few post-episode streams where they've used a selection of music from the show as background music. Perhaps that has been made available for reviewers through the LAN as well? I haven't heard anything of the sort but would also love a soundtrack release.

Duckbricks was using the closing credits theme from Monkie Kid in his set reviews before he became a member of the LAN. Could he have recorded the music from an episode maybe? It's legal to do that as long as you credit whoever holds ownership of the music isn't it? I'm not totally sure.  I get the impression that Chris at Duckbricks reads and often answers comments on his videos, so you could ask him directly that way.

Post episode streams? Is there VODs, and if so, where can I find them? I will jump at any chance I can get these days, the soundtrack is gorgeous and IMO it rivals ninjago. Wether its better, Its a hard decision, mostly because ninjago has had so much. But I favour the latter tracks (spinjitzu burst, chaining the oni titan, the darkness, the fall, the dragon hunt, the list goes on), so if we compare monkie kids tracks through to season 3 and ninjagos tracks to season 3, I'm gonna have to give it to monkie kid. Whilst the ninjago tracks are stunning from seasons 1-3 (falcon chase, rover battle, the digiverse and the temple of light are some of the best), monkie kid has more variety and I like the fast paced techno music that they use for Mei and MK. Love all of it though, I'm glad I can experience both, and getting a Spotify release for MK would be a dream come true, especially with ninjago being confirmed to be getting a full Spotify release for every season now. 2023 is gonna rock!

I investigated and ordered these figs (the whole series actually) after I saw your post. And man am I grateful :D

Print quality is superb, so is the plastic. I love the poseable arms, hopefully LEGO does something similar. The biggest surprise was that Wukong's staff ends are actually from metal!

I’m pretty sure I already know the answer to this, but has anyone heard about these being sold in stores again with the next wave? It feels stupid to have to order the new Monkey Mech about 12 hours before I head to the LEGO store to buy the Modular.

From what I've heard theres a chance that the flagship store will carry some MK sets, such as the one in London. I'm not sure what the US flagship store is, something is telling me its New York which im guessing for someone who is in California, is completely out of the question. It seems they didn't sell well enough in the west to warrant a full physical release, which is such a shame. Maybe phone ahead to your local store and ask if they have any of the MK sets, or you could see if they can be ordered in? I dont know if thats a service they even run, never mind them getting there on time....

In short, yeah it looks like you will have to both order online and buy instore. Honestly at that point I would just order everything online unless your trying to score multiple of the blacktron ship GWP which wouldn't be a bad idea.

Currently my plan is to maybe order the Monkie Kid sets on the first to get the Blacktron GWP, and then buy the Ninjago sets on my wishlist later in the month when the Bionicle GWP is released. I do miss being able to pick up Monkie Kid sets in the stores, but given that there are multiple GWPs I want next month anyway, I'm not going to stress about having to make multiple types of purchases.

Tradition is going to the store for the Modular. I’m very impatient waiting for LEGO but the Modular will at least distract me for most of the wait.  A shame for sure...us MK fans are doomed to wait for the mail. Is Leceister store near you at all? Reasonable distance?

With little hope I will be calling ahead just in case they accidentally got a shipment in.
