Aurore Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 (edited) It's this time of the year again - the time to light the fireplace, grab a glass of mulled wine and count the days before Christmas! From tomorrow onwards, I'll update this topic with a small build or a minifig per day. This year's theme will be broadly heroic fantasy, with comments from my main GOH characters Alrune (elven mage and lady of Embervale), her uncle Dresghar and Evrart (the only human soldier among their guards, the other ones being goblins). Now let's get started! Edited December 24, 2021 by Aurore Quote
Aurore Posted December 1, 2021 Author Posted December 1, 2021 (edited) Day 1 - Alda the Dungeoneer Alrune: "Adventurers! Parasites who make a living by breaking into the residences of honest sorcerers, sticking their nose everywhere and bullying the guards until they find some shiny trinket to bring home. And don't get me started on their laughable taste in women's fashion!" Edited December 7, 2021 by Aurore Quote
Robert8 Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 Oh great face-torso-legs combo The flowing hair makes her look like she is in the middle of battle kicking megablocks Quote
williejm Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 This is so good, such a perfect parts combo 😘👌🏼 - looking forward to see how you follow her up! Quote
Lion King Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 This is a fantastic combination of parts you came up with! This one is fierce for sure. I am looking forward to see your advent calendar. :) Quote
jtooker Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Great idea and awesome figure - those parts go together well. I'm looking forward to these daily builds! Quote
Eyrezer Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Alrune’s comment about fashion absolutely skewers the dungeoneer. Excellent social commentary and I look forward to more. The fig itself is very well executed, of course. Quote
socalbricks Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 (edited) Some genius parts combos here - the transition from the belt on the "Slave Leia torso" to the belt on the "Thena legs" is flawless (what were the odds that those two pieces produced several years apart would combine so smoothly)? Add the arms and metal headband, and you have a great color scheme. The whole wardrobe reminds me of the "pulp fantasy" genre (sort of like Red Sonja, Conan, etc.). I love her hair as well - I've been looking to get the Vampire Bassist on BrickLink for a while now. Finding her for a reasonable price has been difficult, but she'll probably become cheaper/more common in the next few months... Edited December 2, 2021 by socalbricks Quote

So that's where the legs are from... of course I never thought about Eternals! And yeah, you're right. They look like they were produced together. kahir88 Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Heh, really nice idea. <3 I'm too making a little Advent Calendar, but for my store. I'm making a Christmas Market for the small city in the shop's windows. Every day I add another vendor, who is selling Christmas related goods. :D Quote
Aurore Posted December 2, 2021 Author Posted December 2, 2021 (edited) @Robert8 Thank you so much! I've been wanting to pair that head and torso for ages, but I had not found a lower body part I liked with the combo. And yes, I wanted to add a bit of drama with the hair! @williejm Thank you very much! I was absolutely thrilled when I saw Thena's minifig - and, to be honest, most of the Eternals. Their body parts look so useful! (Oh well, that last sentence would sound so weird out of context...) @DBlegonerd7 Thank you so much! I hope you'll enjoy the next builds! @jtooker Thank you very much! I've not been able to make an advent calendar last year, but I could not NOT do it this year! @Eyrezer Well, when I started Alrune's minifig and looked for inspiration on the internet, my search for "elven sorceress" returned mainly outfits that were...let's say "not practical". I already had a sufficient idea of her personality to know she would be enraged about it! @socalbricks Thank you very much! I was dumbfounded when I found out the patterns on Leia's torso and Thena's legs would be perfectly aligned. As for the vampire bassist, I've been incredibly lucky : I got three Vidiyo Bandmates S2 blindboxes, and had both her and the dragon guitarist - i.e. the two I wanted most! @kahir88 Thank you so much! Your advent calendar sounds thrilling (such a lovely idea!), will you share photos on the net? Edited December 2, 2021 by Aurore Quote
Aurore Posted December 2, 2021 Author Posted December 2, 2021 (edited) Day 2 - Adventure Supplies Evrart: "Treasure hunters tend to spend recklessly on gear and gadgets. And on old maps. Oh, and on drinks, too. Our shopkeepers rather appreciate them." Edited December 7, 2021 by Aurore Quote

socalbricks Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 (edited) Nice little build - I especially like the use of that "Marauder's Map" from Harry Potter! Edited December 2, 2021 by socalbricks Quote
Eyrezer Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Nice crate. Maybe a future calendar day should be an old map forger/faker. 😄 Quote
Robert8 Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 The treasure hunter ransacked the The Room of Requiriments it would seem Also, I have the feeling someone is going to bricklink tons of those printed coins the S22 Bard comes with Quote
Aurore Posted December 2, 2021 Author Posted December 2, 2021 @williejm How come I had never heard of Irn Bru before today, nor found a single bottle of it around here to give it a try, while we (arguably) still have the Auld Alliance and the town next to mine is twinned with a scottish one?? @DBlegonerd7 So glad you enjoy it! @socalbricks Thank you! I think he Marauders' Map are among my favourite printed tiles ever - both versions, and also the third one we'll be getting in 2022. @Eyrezer Thank you! A (honest...or not) cartographer's workshop is definitely on my to-build list...but it may take a while before I actually build it. @Robert8 While those treasure hunters are busy with Hogwarts, that mean they're far away from Embervale and that's perfect! PS : tons of coins...and tons of lutes as well! Quote
Aurore Posted December 3, 2021 Author Posted December 3, 2021 (edited) Day 3 - Quest Board Dresghar: "I have set up a disruptive talent sourcing platform to help our villagers tackle their recruiting challenges." Evrart: "Huh? Seems like an ordinary quest board to me, sir." Edited December 7, 2021 by Aurore Quote
blackdeathgr Posted December 3, 2021 Posted December 3, 2021 Epic mini builds so far (especially the minifig)! Keep them coming! Quote
socalbricks Posted December 3, 2021 Posted December 3, 2021 Neat idea! I should definitely build one of these - I think my bounty hunter characters like Kars would find it very helpful! Quote
Kai NRG Posted December 3, 2021 Posted December 3, 2021 So many cool printed tiles on that board! I love the dragon one especially! Where is that from? Quote
Robert8 Posted December 3, 2021 Posted December 3, 2021 It seems they put a bounty on a woman called Luna Lovegood.... I wonder what she did lol Quote
Aurore Posted December 4, 2021 Author Posted December 4, 2021 @blackdeathgr Thank you very much! I hope you'll enjoy the next ones! @socalbricks Thank you! Kars and crew sure would find it useful! @Kai NRG Thank you! I had a lot of fun selecting the tiles. The one with the dragon comes from an Elves set (41176). @Robert8 Who knows... Quote
Aurore Posted December 4, 2021 Author Posted December 4, 2021 (edited) Day 4 - Festive Evrart Evrart: "I look stupid. I'm a soldier, for Helm's sake! I need armour, not silly frills!" Edited December 7, 2021 by Aurore Quote
