February 27, 200916 yr And update as often as you can! I bet many are checking this thread daily just to get a new glimpse of this beauty.
March 1, 200916 yr You can visit the replica, just cross the bridge and park. Parking is free and you can walk straight to her. Last time is was there she was closed, but if you're lucky you can stand on the campaign deck and overlook the beauty! i think i will look around a bit more, the next time, whem i'am in Den Helder, it would aprobebly be a good source of inspiration, when i'm building up my HMS Phoenix again for the 4th time. and so will be your schip. PS for all dutch CP: does somebody know the owner, of the replica hull of De Vasa on marktplaats.nl
March 1, 200916 yr Dear Claus, --sorry CGH, is a bit off topic.-- yep that is Jos, both me an CGH know him. He is a nice guy. he has a topic on this forum of his ship as well. Kind regards, Teddy
March 22, 200915 yr Author Thanks for the kind words guys, time for another update! This is the 4th and final version of the above waterpart so far, i'm really pleased with it myself. The rear with the hatches closed. With the hatches opened, i have decided to make the rear of the hatches dark red to make it look more interesting. You can also see the start of some decorations on the ''wulf'', the round part above the rudder. It is black for now, but this will be totally different on the final version. More on that later This is the first cannon to be placed where it should be, in the master gunner's room. I haven't finished the deck yet, as i need to make supports for it. You can see the supports for the highest part, they connect the 2 sides as well. The inside wall of the hold is now mostly brown. The black jumpers are supposed to represent iron bolts, but i'm not sure if i'll keep them..?? And last but not least, you can see the positioning of the whaleboat Well that's all folks, hope you like it and C&C is as always welcome!
March 22, 200915 yr Great updates CGH! I love this progress so far! Keep it up. I should replace the black jumper plates for brown ones with a black round 1x1 plate on them. Perhaps that's looking good too.
March 23, 200915 yr nice update^^ I love the size comparison with the BB , it really shows how your project is going to be huge!
March 23, 200915 yr Great updates CGH Good call on tiling the interior of the hold. The stern is really well doen and looks great. Keep it up, buddy. Kind regards, Teddy
March 23, 200915 yr Great work CGH. I love the dark red in those gunports. Would it be expensive to do like 38 or so of those? As for the interior planking, I agree with Cap'n Blackmoor. You might want to try that approach. Keep up the great work buddy Greetings, Errorist
March 23, 200915 yr That is one small big whaleboat So far the ship looks good Edited March 23, 200915 yr by Broadside
March 24, 200915 yr Great update Captain Green Hair, one must admire your love for building. Your whaleboat is nothing in comparison to the mighty Willem.
March 24, 200915 yr Author Thanks guys! I should replace the black jumper plates for brown ones with a black round 1x1 plate on them. Perhaps that's looking good too. Great idea, thanks! I love the dark red in those gunports. Would it be expensive to do like 38 or so of those? No, dark red is definitly affordable. Your whaleboat is nothing in comparison to the mighty Willem. The whaleboat is not really my design, so i scuttled her for parts.
April 5, 200915 yr WOW!!!!!! *oh2* *oh2* That is one big boat. When are you going to make the side cannon ports for the cannons? Things I like. 1.the cool engraving on the cannon 2.the rear cannon ports I can't wait to see the finished pictures.
April 6, 200915 yr Any updates on this project already dear Captain? Edited April 6, 200915 yr by Cap'n Blackmoor
April 13, 200915 yr Author Progress has been slow, mostly due to the nice weather and other things that needed atention. But yes, there has been progress. I have been making some small stuff, here you see one of the 3 bilge pumps i designed: I have made some 17th century figures, thanks to Mijasper for the legs design. And the first guns are at their final position, in the master gunner's room: As you can see i'm using the new colour barrels in the old brown carriages. All of 'm will be engraved soon. So it's not much this time, but i hope you like it.
April 13, 200915 yr This looks awesome Captain Green Hair, although you have shown me some pics before so it isn't all new to me. Keep up the good work, mate !

April 13, 200915 yr Engraved shiny new cannons... What are you planning to do with the old engraved cannons? I've seen you sell the older ones but they are not engraved. The pump looks awesome, it looks very functional to me. I like it to see you build a very large ship with even the smallest detail in it. I've designed a pump as well, not more then a barrel with some technic pieces... Keep this wonderful build up and Happy Easter!
April 13, 200915 yr Author I wanna see this stand up to Teddies HMS Victory and then try and smile. We had warships for that Joey, this is a cargo ship.
April 13, 200915 yr Author This vessel has been used for battle... True, the captain at the time didn't like her very much though. Admiral Witte de With gave her back after a few months. This wasn't in the 19th century though.
April 13, 200915 yr Author True, but just imagine how it would be to see a fight between those vessels. Noooo, mine will be sunk in minutes..
