2021 Surfer Beach House was a pretty decent house/shop type of build, bigger then the other 2 beach houses and while double hinged it was still fully closed.

Yes you are right. That was my bias based on 1) I was focusing on buildings that fit in urban area (shops and what not) and 2) it's so over styled and busy personally I don't feel it fits in with the other beach houses, petshop, etc...but as said that's my bias. The Safari tree house is a bit cleaner/less busy, but hard to integrate in any urban environment. I'll fix my post above.

Will the pirates ship and castle still be in production this year or I should hurry to get them?

Brickset isn't listing any exit dates for the sets, so it's likely they will bet available until at least the end of this year.

2021: Surfer Beach house

2020: toy shoppe (great but no back)

2019: petshop (great but no back), cabin (too small)

2018: skate house, winter vacation, sweep surprises (none of which were great for a city imho)

2017: townhouse & beachside vacation (last of the 3D closed back CREATOR buildings) and the 3 modular houses (which I passed on)

2016: Lighthouse, corner deli, lakeside lodge - all great enclosed sets.

2015: Changing Seasons, Toy Shop, Beach Hut - all good sets

2014: Bike Shop and Cafe - I think the best on this list. Also started the trend of Mini-figure scale mini-modular cit buildings as opposed to single family homes.

I would definitely like to see more than one building per year. They need to bring back the family houses as well.

They're all 3in1. Should be good!

Oh! I’m not sure where I should look into - I am looking for Creator Expert / 18+ sets.

I think Modular buildings are covered in the Lego Town forum.

Yes I know there is Boutique Hotel set this year. But I’m just curious about other Creator Expert/18+ sets this year.

Not my department, I'm afraid. I'm usually on the Lego Town forum. My usual Lego philosophy is, if it isn't for children, it isn't for me either!

That said, I do understand that the 'Creator Expert' lable has been retired, and '18+' covers a wider variety of products. It's all very confusing and, in my opinion, wrong; most of the 18+ sets can be assembled by a younger person.

So far for 2022 beside the hotel there's the Vespa Scooter discussed here:

Other 2022 sets would be : (source https://www.promobricks.de/lego-2022-neuheiten/#ultp-id-1685d4d2 )

LEGO Box 2021 10299 Estadio Santiago Bernabéu   349,99€ 03/2022

LEGO Box 2021 10300 Back to the Future: DeLorean   169,99€ 04/2022

LEGO Box 202110311 Orchidee   49,99€ 2022

Creator Expert type sets tend to get their own threads / discussion, I mainly made this Creator 2022 to house the smaller sets including 3-in-1, of course doesn't mean that Creator Expert can't be discussed here, but easier to focus discussion on bigger sets in their own threads when they already exist.

Modular usually gets discussed in Town, a Train usually in Trains, and Creator Expert vehicles usually get topics in this subforum.

Has there been anything more about the ‘postcard’ sets that didn’t happen on Jan 1st?
Don’t actually recall any official comment. I rather liked those.

Only thing I can find on those is that Bricklink now calls them :

New York Postcard (summer release)

Beijing Postcard (summer release)

Not to change gears, but has there been any more info on the rumored creator Viking ship?

promobricks describes it as similar in size to last years pirate ship and 3 figs should be included, 6 rudders on each side as well as 7 shields on each side.

No idea if and how the shields will be printed, if the figs will reuse some known pieces. I hope they'll reuse the accurate viking helmets from the CMF!

I really look forward to it as well. I try to get rid of most of my collection but to keep and upgrade all my ships. It was really hard to not get the great pirate ship from last year - but it would have just been too big of an effort to change all the weird colours and brick built sails..

Speaking of which: the sails are written again to be "built" - I assume this means brick built as well.

There will also be a submarine with an octopus, which sounds interesting.

I think the Toy shoppe was a very good set.

In terms of CREATOR mini-modulars for towns and cities, we've got:

2021: Surfer Beach house

2020: toy shoppe (great but no back)

2019: petshop (great but no back), cabin (too small)

2018: skate house, winter vacation, sweep surprises (none of which were great for a city imho)

2017: townhouse & beachside vacation (last of the 3D closed back CREATOR buildings) and the 3 modular houses (which I passed on)

2015: Changing Seasons, Toy Shop, Beach Hut - all good sets

2014: Bike Shop and Cafe - I think the best on this list. Also started the trend of Mini-figure scale mini-modular cit buildings as opposed to single family homes.

My point is in 8 years we've received 6 city oriented mini-figure scale buildings (excluding cabins, lighthouses and beach huts), and so ANY city building is a rare breed and valuable. If the Noodle Shop is like the toy shop of 2020 I'll be thrilled, as City buildings tend to be overly simple even for the age range. Also, I should add because of 3-in-1 there are at least 14 reasonable city building designs of various sizes from the above bolded city oriented sets.

Also, put be down as someone who loved the enclosed buildings with hinges!

It's a shame we only get around one building per year. These are usually great (maybe a bit too "crowded" in some cases) and full of useful pieces for MOCing. I usually buy a few of each set since I think it's more fun to get pieces from sets instead of Bricklink or Bricks & Pieces/Pick-a-Brick.

The alternate from 31124: Super Robot has a lot of Warcraft dragon whelp shaping to it, proportion wise (picked the mechanical one as example due to color scheme)

I just saw details of street racer. This set is very speed championized and b and c model seems lackluster, so Im really curious what is possible to do with that set else.

I think these big wheels are very limiting other alternate models...

Albeit it reminds me a lot some tuned SUV from 2000 era... Which is nice throwback!

Totally agree with you. These Creator 3in1 townhouse sets are wonderful and the lineup deserves more attention from lego designers! The family houses also deserve annual redesign, it has some nostalgic value to it and is an OG Lego theme. In my opinion, both themes give me the OG Lego vibes I cannot find it on the Creator Modular sets due to their larger builds and more serious look rather than fun.

  • 31124 Super Mech 159 pieces €9,99 - Alternate builds : Jet - Mechanical Dragon ?

It's time for a partnership with Bandai, a Super Robots theme, Soul of Chogokin designs but made of bricks. Let me dream.
