Do we think the first two waves of sets sold well enough for the third movie to have tie in sets when it comes out? posting because I just watched the way of water and loved it

Nah. Sadly not. They are discounted (but still overpriced) shelf-warmers. Which is a shame, because I really loved Way of Water and after seeing it I got a couple of the sets and they're pretty decent. Figures look better in person too.

But unfortunately it's probably the last we'll see of LEGO Avatar.

Here's hoping it somehow leads to them considering making new Avatar: The Last Airbender sets.

I agree, I have a bad feeling that this will be it for avatar. Also has everyone seen the delays that came out today? Pretty big delays now for the movies, number 3 is being pushed back to December 2025, 4 to 2029 (that’s a 3 year delay from 2026!) and number 5 is being pushed back till 2031. Absolutely wild, i understand sometimes movies have to be delayed but I’ll be interested to see what caused something like this.

I would be willing to bet the ongoing writers strike is what caused the delays.

Well, this means we would see sets based on the third movie in early 2026 (!) at the earliest, 3 full years after the last wave. 

Unless they‘ll pull a JW, this is probably it for the theme.

If the theme is short lived it might be worth picking up a few sets with good condition boxes as investment, after a few years they will probably go high online especially when the last film of the series comes out

Yeah, seems like these sets didn't do too great. Just picked up the RDA Samson for 50% off at a Target last night. Hoping I can find the others for similar discounts, especially the Tree of Souls.

Big shame it wasn’t popular, I thought the animal models are beautiful, especially with the moulded heads, I have not built the biggest set yet but looking forward to it

Wow, unexpected but great news. I wonder if it’ll just be avatar way of water or the first as well. There’s plenty of scope left for sets, akula, the rhino thing from the first film, viper wolves, home tree(doubt they’ll do something that big), more RDA sets etc. I didn’t think it would happen as many have said the sets didn’t sell well, I never noticed that near me but they must have done quite well.

I’m praying Lego finally see sense and give us some more RDA vehicles. I’d love to get that warthog log truck from the first film or a sea wasp. Or maybe a matador boat. So many interesting things they could do if they just commit to it. We have Star Wars so why can’t we have RDA?

Something tells me they aren‘t gonna release sets in 2024 based on a movie scheduled for December 2025

Some people are questioning whether these even are Avatar sets, but they immediately follow the previous set numbers, so they have to be. Consider me stunned, I thought we wouldn‘t see new sets for another two years!

Probably because the RDA troops look like real-world soldiers and the faction overall was designed as a critique of American military actions. The closest thing to real military/law enforcement that we have gotten in Star Wars are Imperial Army Troopers (Solo, Andor) and Security Troopers (Andor).

Maybe it’s not likely for Avatar but i hope they would make molded creatures. I love molded creatures more than ugly buildable ones.

I was not sure when it would be coming out, and whether it got pushed back because of the strikes (LEGO would presumably have already designed and prepared to release the sets pre-strike).

It was pushed back from Dec 24 to Dec 25 well before the strikes began, but further delays are unlikely in my mind. It‘s far enough away as not be affected by the strikes and large chunks have already been filmed to boot

Now I wonder what they will cover. Character-wise, we got most of the important players already. Same goes for the creatures, except for the viperwolves and hammerheads from the first film. More RDA vehicles then?

Wow, this is such a pleasant surprise! 
 

Although it was part of the whaling sequence the speedboat with the harpoon could be a fun set. Or maybe Quaritch’s banshee? The big boat which sinks at the end could work too. 

Also in terms of figures it’d be really cool to get some of Quaritch’s avatar squad - waynefleet, one of the female squad members or one with sunglasses would fe fun 

 

As someone who’s interested in this theme for the Naa’vi figures and wildlife, it will be interesting to see how a balance is struck between RDA and Pandora builds

I'm very glad to see we're getting more Avatar sets! I wonder if they'll only be dlbased on the 2 movies or maybe some of them might be based on Frontiers of Pandora? That could be really cool, especially with some of the new creatures represented in it.

If it's just the first 2 movies then I absolutely want a Titanothere!

Oh, definitely! A set based on the climax of the first movie with a titanothere and an RDA vehicle has a lot of potential.

In terms of minifigs, I’d like to see Grace’s avatar body! Or maybe Dr. Garvin. A minifig of Jermaine Clement would be pretty neat!

I'd really love to see a Valkyrie shuttle personally. That opening sequence was extremely striking when I saw it in theaters and I feel like its non military enough for LEGO to make without too many problems. Then again, they did the Samson and the AMP suit dirty, so who knows if it'll be any good

Absolutely, would love to see that, although I think it would have to be a midi-scale type build like the starwars ghost or something. So still minifig compatible but definitely not minifig scale. I hope they take another crack at a Sampson as well at some point.
