The review of part # 77107 in NewElementary reminds me of my static model of TMC Dumont.

[MOC] TMC Dumont

So I challenge myself to build a working one with PoweredUp motor & hub.

The model is driven with a PU XL Motor & a PU M motor for the steering.
I try to adopt the driving mechanism from the TMC Dumont for this model & it works smoothly,

Yes, the 46335 tire wrap around nicely into the frame and make it possible to rotate & very stable when drive around.

The position of the mounting point of the frame also take part in order to make the tire rotate, I mount 4 pieces 1L liftarm as bearing at mounting frame to help the tire rotate smoothly.
I have try to change the mounting point to lower level (as the front wheel of the TMC), and it didn't work since it produced a lot of fraction.

As for the video, I think you might have made a mistake with your links. Is there supposed to be one showing it driving? I see you have an identical link for both the general video and the driving concept, so I think you might have copied the wrong one for the general video. I'd love to see it work, though!

@dickylaban I replied to one of your fb posts, nice work already!
Have you already done some tests with more rpm to see if the construction with the 77107 parts working out at high speeds?

Funnily I am currently thinking about the same topic.. I would even try to get the rim out too and just have the rubber wheel be driven hub- and rimless.. I will test this in the next week.

This is the driving mechanism for the rear wheel.
I replaced the white rubber band with 0.5" O-ring (non-lego part) to obtained a better grip to the tire.
The structure is the best I can achieve for a good scale ratio for the bike.(compact size)
if you have better solutions, please share it.

The black gear is connected to the same one mounted on the PU XL motor.
The red 1L connector (4 pcs) is use as the bearing for the tire.

Probably not. There's no kind of rake angle to make it want to self balance, and it's not fast enough even if there were.

Even if it's not actually a motorcycle insofar as it can't drive like one, it's still a cool demonstration of a hubless wheel. @dickylaban thanks for sharing.

Oh yeah, absolutely cool concept, I have actually toyed with the idea myself, never close to anything like this though.

And I also didn't consider, no rake on the front wheel, for steering, maybe something to think about for future builds.

The steering is a push-pull method, it formed a parallelogram where the steering rod parallel to the wheel's mounting rod.

Yes. but you need to add some side wheel to prevent it falling sideways. :)

Probably not. There's no kind of rake angle to make it want to self balance, and it's not fast enough even if there were.

Even if it's not actually a motorcycle insofar as it can't drive like one, it's still a cool demonstration of a hubless wheel. @dickylaban thanks for sharing.

Well, I've seen it drive forwards and backwards and I've seen the steering mechanism, but I haven't seen it do both at the same time like this one :pir-grin:

Sorry but this won't be true - your direct steering approach will never work "as in real life"

Unfortunately I have dismantle the build.
You can buy the building instructions to prove it.
Your model only works with buwizz.

I understand you still can not understand how my steering works, it works as the "hub steering" system does.

When I say "it won't work" I don't mean whether the thing drives forwards and backwards or whether it steers the front wheel left and right, I've seen it do that. I mean whether it does both together at the same time, balancing like a real motorcycle (or balancing at all). I don't need to pay 25€ to learn that your 200 piece model can't do that, and nor does anyone else - if it worked, you'd have made a video.

Mine works  with a buwizz or a Chinese battery. No it won't work with a Lego battery, but I don't see it as an issue, many MOCs require buwizz. For 3€, you can prove it if you're a qualified builder :pir_laugh2:

You don't need to explain me hub centred steering. It looks like yours would work like a real one, but there's simply no way it can, because you're trying to force the bar left when you want to go left, which isn't how motorcycles works (see Afri's video above).

Your only chance to prove me wrong is to post a video of your bike, running and steering, without falling over.

@dickylaban First of all you are wrong regarding the Fast Street Bike - it has much flexibility when it comes to batteryboxes. Buwizz 2 (I think even 3) and all chinese brands 8x4 boxes can be used.

Regarding your design: I think if one claims something to be working that person has to do the proof of it.

Sorry but here is my personal opinion: "Oh I disassembled it already" seems like an easy excuse - at least I would be triggered to deliver proof I one challanged me with this - or clearly statethat my claims were wrong.
Also charging 25 USD for a manual of a not-really-driving-(or-not-having-a-proof)-motorcycle feels very overpriced to me.

Seems like it would be very easy to rebuild it anyway, since there are instructions and not a great number of pieces. I would also expect to see the model in action, proof of function, before purchasing instructions as well. I do know that to turn a two wheeled vehicle, effectively, it needs to lean into the turn. 

I do like the looks of this model and the entire concept as well and will likely create something similar in the future.
