weavil Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 (edited) I thought a jet powered mini van would be cool. Haven't been feeling good so making post felt exhausting. But feel better so here we go. I trying to have: Fold out wings Popup tail fins Opening rear doors The jet to slide back some Moving flaps on the main wings Moving flaps on the tail wings. Started a few days after the announcement and just now posting :( I first tried multi-point hinge and had a nice setup, but almost no way to do working flaps with it. I tried different hinge designs, with all pointless with no working flaps. I ended up keeping it simple and will deal with holes in the body work for the wing movement. The red and black wing it the design I'm using. With it open. I have more pictures somewhere, but had my camera poop out on me so they are on smart devices here and there. weavil Posted January 2, 2022 Author Posted January 2, 2022 One of the lost pictures: But I remade the whole chassis, steering and how the jet sits. I was not able to make the jet slide back, but won't hurt. The "jet engine" The mechanism for the flaps. And linkage for the tailfin flaps. Steering. Used the rubber connectors to allow for steering when the tailfins are down. The layout. How it looks now. The tailfin. (crap picture of it) Quote
weavil Posted January 18, 2022 Author Posted January 18, 2022 (edited) Now that I had a week free, I've been busy working on this. I forgot to add to the height when I widened it a couple of studs. As a result, it will now be the Rocket SUV. Work was slow-ish and challenging. But I got it done. (I hope!) The rear door linkage: The drive for the wheels, main flaps, and the black gear for the jet engine. Also the drives to raise move the rear wings.: The motor and actuators for the wings. The drive motor is directly under: With the jet: https://www.bricksafe.com/pages/weavil/2021/tc21 Edited January 18, 2022 by weavil Quote
2GodBDGlory Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 This looks nice! It has a good amount of complexity, but doesn't make too many compromises to get there. Quote

Gray Gear Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 I like the use of the Exo Force turbine. I always thought these were really cool. Quote
weavil Posted January 18, 2022 Author Posted January 18, 2022 I got 2 of them for an idea, but other projects came up first. Well it looks like a jet intake fins and I may have tweaked the scale a little to make it fit. Quote
