Would be great to see if it's worth it before trying it myself. I've not seen it yet, but would love to see it, or even try it myself. I'd like to combine two to create something at a larger scale (maybe 50% more), to make it properly four floors, and maybe an extra 16 studs wide. Quote

Yea, my idea would be making both sides symmetrical and maybe enlarge the window sections by 2 studs each (an extra window), but I don't know if that would conflict with the sanctum printed dish piece as I can't make that one bigger. Caps Beard Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 Both brick_clicker and falconfan have posted stories on IG in the last 24 hours. Falconfan talking about 2022 being year of Lego making strange decisions and Brick_Clicker saying just because something seems obvious doesn’t mean it’ll happen. Of course these may be unrelated to Marvel but I can’t think of any other big D2C sets for this year that have yet to be revealed. I’m almost fully convinced the D2C isn’t going to be Avengers Tower at this point. These posts just add to the gut feeling I have. Quote

I thought they were just talking about the Hogwarts Express, but you‘re right, this could indeed refer to the $500 set If so, the AT can 100% be ruled out. Maybe it really is an icons collection or something Quote
Scarilian Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 (edited) I'm not sure the comments they made were directly related to the Marvel D2C, but I am aware that the nature of the set is known to people, and from the information relayed to me it does imply the set is going to be recieved in a similar 'why did they handle it this way?' scenario. The D2C is apparently not what people have been guessing so I'd unfortunately take Avengers Tower or Helicarrier off the table and it's apparently unlikely to be an icons style set either. From how It's been described they felt it may get a mixed reception but could be potentially viewed as a celebration of the franchise as many have desired so it could be good for some but I'd expect a similar mixed response similar to how the Hogwarts Express was recieved. Edit: Apologies for the vagueness, but in general it might be best to manage expectations rather than us all being hyped over it being one thing but it winding up being something else. Either way, the $500 set is not for me, I'd much rather have that money going towards a PS5 or getting a higher end GPU. Quote
JediJosh Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 I'm still hoping the $500 set is Comicbook Avengers Mansion. That way we can get comic book versions of all the classic Avengers like Ant-man, Wasp, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Vision, Scarlett Witch, Black Panther, Giant Man, Hawkeye, Wonder Man ect- all in their classic outfits or first appearance outfits. BrickBob Studpants Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 I wish somebody would finally just come forward and tell us what it is No idea why there is this much secrecy surrounding it compared to every other D2C this year Quote
Caps Beard Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 I’m so intrigued. I’m not even going to attempt to guess as I don’t think it’s going to fit into any category of set we’ve seen at that price point (building, vehicle, icons ect) With the details seemingly out there let’s hope us finding out is just around the corner! TurnOffTheDark Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 People hate the hogwarts express set? It is literally a phenomenal build and has a great selection of figs. I don't know what more lego could've done with that specific set. As for the $500 set, So long as it is a location build I'll be content Quote
PsychoBuilder Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 You know, I thought I saw someone saying yesterday that the D2C will come out on October 1st, but I couldn’t find the post, and that doesn’t sound really right. Did anyone else see that? Quote

PRbrickbuilder Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 If weird decisions are on the table, could a life size Cap's shield fit the $500 price tag? Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 Even though there is still no concrete information out there, it’s become pretty clear we shouldn‘t expect too much out of the set I‘m expecting an icons-style set to avoid disappointment Quote

Jeez. I mean, I wouldn't put it past them, but at the same time, I think a life-sized cap's shield would be more than $500. That'd be almost 5 square feet (0.46 square meters) of brick, and unlike, say, the mosiacs, there'd be a lot more complexity with the build, what with the round edges, round stripes, and concavity. Personally, I think it looks marvellous and the scale is of no concern to me, but some people seem to care about compatibility quite a bit Maybe the Marvel D2C could be similar, in that it‘s a desirable thing in a controversial scale? Falconfan1414 Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 How did it go to such doom and gloom here? Not time for that yet, no info is even out on the set yet so I think judgement can be saved for when the set info is revealed Quote
