Apparently the $500 set is going to heavily feature a Black Panther vehicle

The Hulkbuster is a set I’m looking forward to seeing in the store window but not buying. Could be really big and cool, but not something I’d be willing to shell that kind of money for.

It’s funny how Lego sometimes seem like they don’t have any clue on how to capitalize on the Marvel theme… first the endless Square Enix Avengers sets, now these d2cs that no one seems to want…

I wouldn't put Hulkbuster and BP's bust on the same level, Hulkbuster has great potential.  Sure it turns out to be poor, or a € 300 set sold for 500, would be outrageous.

However, I am very curious and ready to buy (even if I will have to pay for it in 2 or 3 months lol)

I’ll put this out. Maybe the hulkbuster is a $300 set being charged a $500 price? Lego’s pricing hasn’t helped the whole debate

Shall need to see it I suppose. I don't mind it being a little overpriced and cutting it down with VIP points and trying to time it with some promotions I'm interested in, but I'd rather not have a $550 Hulkbuster that looks and feels like it's $300 worth. I hope this viewpoint won't be reflected in the set itself.

Edit: I'd lean to the $300 price just being from the Black Panther Bust and getting mixed up. Original price was probably going to be around $450-$500. $450 for 4049 pieces and an exclusive figure, I guess I could see that happen.

Marvel license makes me doubt we'd get a $300 set with 4049 pieces, especially when that set is the Hulkbuster. $450 would be more likely but it's went through two price rises since.

It may be best holding off till later honestly if you intend to buy it, save you spending on other things to get a promotional aspect and/or timing it around VIP points or sales.

  • November has a Black Friday event from the 25th to the 28th and Cyber Monday event on the 28th
  • December usually has something VIP point related
  • January (?) has a Bionicle GWP - 40580: Buildable Tahu (?)
  • February has a Marvel Polybag - 30652: (Polybag?, 44 pcs)

I understand the general sentiment of questioning some sources and leakers which is a healthy mindset to have, don't get me wrong on that, but in this case we are less than a month from release and the timing should be taken into account. It makes no sense for any credible leaker such as Brick_Clicker to make a false statement and risk their reputation on something that they could wait for. If they wanted to do as you said, they could have simply stated the name of the set and the set number (we already knew about) and relayed nothing else and people would have praised them later if it was accurate, this would have been a way to do an opinion or guess and still take credit. Instead Brick_Clicker has given us a new release date, piece count, pricing, description of content and the scale of the set itself. It makes no sense for them to lie while providing all that information at this stage because it'd just destroy their reputation later in less than 32 days, potentially even within the next two or three weeks as we'd probably see a leak or something mid/late month.

The D2C was an anomaly, everything we had was correct information, the trouble was it all got attributed together rather than viewed seperately:

  • We had the name, size and figure count of the Hulkbuster MK2
  • We had the pricing, piece count and set number of the Black Panther Bust
  • We had the nature of the Black Panther 'War On The Water' set as a vehicle

The trouble is when it was relayed varying pieces were compiled together such as promobricks where we had the correct pricing, numbering and piece count of the Black Panther Bust set since November 2021 YET this was labelled along with the correct information for the Hulkbuster MK2, its figure count and scale as the Hulkbuster MK2 information. With each new bit of information we tried to latch it together with existing guidelines rather than realizing the original guidelines were incorrect. We never considered that the remarks about a Black Panther Vehicle could have been directed at the missing Black Panther WF wave set because we'd latched that to being one of the D2C's already.

my Bad i was not addressing brickclicker, or any statements they have made,  im not even caught up in the thread enough to know whats going on with them, i was more generally addressing the majority of "leakers" who have no inside info at all but like to portray themselves as such, they make claims  with such authority that we are led to believe might have some truth to them but are really just their guesses., or regurgitated guesses they have heard.

Does lego.com discount poor selling sets like retailers do? I have enough gift cards/VIP points to get sets but don't want to waste them if the prices will come down...

Yeah, the Queer Eye set is 40% off at the moment, presumably due to slow sales.

I seem to remember them using Black Friday to discount poor sellers too.

Promobricks uploaded a gif of Thanos, Clicker anticipates news: give me something tasty bwoyz!!! I want to forget this 2022 👽

I thought the implication was they were gonna give a detailed description/show pictures of the Hulkbuster

@Mattallica
You don't need to apologize and I was not trying to imply you were specifically addressing a user. I just find it unfortunate that thanks to false aspects and confusion a lot of faith and trust has been lost to the point where people are doubting everything.

I'd expect this also honestly, given they were the very first place to report on it all the way back in November 2021. Either way, it'll probably be a little while between when they tease something and when they deliver.

Alternatively, Brick_Clicker recently remarked on 'one more thing' from the Lego vault implying the return of another classic theme and the Thanos gif from Promobricks is him opening a vault...

We're all being really hard on Lego for 2022 sets like the Armory, Black Panther Bust, and the War on the Water (not to mention the several Build-a-Figure sets)...

There have been some really stellar sets this year though, particularly in the MCU sets:

  • Dr Strange: Gargantos Battle
  • Dr. Strange: Sanctum Sanctorum
  • Thor L&T: Goat Boat
  • Black Panther: Shuri's Sunbird
  • Wolverine/IronMan/BP Mechs
  • Thor's Hammer
  • Spiderman FFH Polybag
  • entire Spidey and his Amazing Friends wave

People like to shoot the messengers with rumors they don’t like. People forget lego loves to include a random iron man in sets

He is creditable I trust him if that matters

Thanks, this is helpful.

I'm very intrigued to see the Hulkbuster. I hope it's stunning.

armory and wakanda forever sets, for me, are among the few things that can be saved this year 😄

Boy, I‘m so glad it‘s the Hulkbuster after all, as opposed to an unwieldy ship taking away too much space. This will prove very easy to display for me  Also, I prefer the IW design, so I‘m glad we now have both versions as D2C sets!

Can‘t wait to see it, and I’m especially curious about its stability. The last one toppled over more than once :laugh_hard:

Well, about that...

Promobricks have posted in their story claiming it is the Hulkbuster MK1 with an image of the AoU Hulkbuster.

I think this matches with some remarks I've heard that it may blend aspects of both designs and the 'MK2' in the title may just refer to it being the second attempt at the Hulkbuster MK1 design.

I think part of this has to do with what could have been. After how strong summer 2021 was plus with it being marvel’s 10 year anniversary and that not being celebrated.

Like for me this is the most disappointing year of all time for Lego marvel with what could have been

I think the D2C's and big sets were probably meant as a celebration - though it seems we may have legacy sets in early 2023 with the Quinjet & Hulkbuster Battle For Wakanda presumably along with others.

Huh *huh* Well that‘s a bit of a bummer. At least we‘re getting a new IW minifig-scale version in January as a consolation prize

It's too late, you've activated the monkey paw and now we are gonna get a $550 Infinity War Hulkbuster MK2 next year now instead of Avengers Tower :p

Could be worse. At least we're getting sets. DC hasn't had any standard system sets this year (3 max if you count The Batman sets, but they released in 2021 in some places)

Well, that's a little more interesting. $550 is still too much for me but if I happen to win the lottery or sell my kidney or something I'll buy it.

No, no, no. A $950 mk2 hulkbuster (the same size, though), and because of it, we lose the Morbius set.

This might be a hot take, but I'm glad the 500€ set it's not the avengers tower or a modular building.

If they do end up releasing more Marvel buildings I'd rather to be able to actually aford to buy them without having to live under a bridge.

This Hulkbuster has to be one of the most true but incorrect rumors ever! Wrong price, piece count, and now subject matter. I'm not happy it's the Mark 44 - I kinda prefer the Mark 48 since it's so much sleeker. We also already have a UCS-style Mark 44, even if this one is 4x larger, so I would've preferred a Mark 48.

That being said, the 44 is more iconic so this does make a bit more sense. I am also convinced now that 76206 Iron Man Figure will be to scale with it and fit inside. For that price, it better!

The 10th Anniversary not have anything official is biggest disappointment for me. Didnt even get a label on a box never mind special figures. I havent enjoyed this years set choices even though there are a couple like Dr Strange sets that were good but I dont expect to like every set thats released even if this year the majority were in that camp but when you see Harry Potter, Star Wars and Ninjago have anniversary content and Marvel and DC get nothing, it makes you wonder why.

1 hour ago, Scarilian said:

Why no label at the least to highlight that? Heres your anniversary sets but we arent going to tell you thats what they are. Doesn't make sense. The Hulkbuster could change that if it has an official reference to the anniversary but seems unlikely it will.

They are even celebrating 50 years of Dungeon and Dragons in Lego Ideas but not Superheroes
