jimmynick Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Ran across this post on Instagram: I was really surprise actually since TLG would never have touched R-rated material (using US terms here, sorry) in the past, but with the new movie coming out this winter I suppose the Matrix franchise is a sort of evergreen pop-cultural phenomenon they can cash in on. What do we think? Quote
MatthewRC Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 (edited) I seriously doubt it, but let’s just wait and see. Edited December 21, 2021 by MatthewRC Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Just a reference, nothing more to it Not the first time, actually: Quote
Oky Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 The movie comes out tomorrow. I think if they were gonna release something to tie in with it, it would have been announced already. So yeah, probably just a bad photoshop to ride the coattails of the hype for the movie (which seems beneath TLG, but whatever). I’d love to be wrong though. If not, let’s hope the reactions to this post will show TLG how much people want Matrix sets. Quote
Legoman123 Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Lego are touching more r-rated things now aren’t they, or at least pushing the boundary’s with some of the things they bring out. Quote

jimmynick Posted December 22, 2021 Author Posted December 22, 2021 @Mr No I think what @Oky means is not that the movie is beneath TLG, rather making a social media post about the movie, inserting their product, without actually having a tie-in to it is a cynical practice beneath TLG. 16 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said: Just a reference, nothing more to it Perhaps. It would be a shame if it were just a reference, but I think it'd be neat to see what sets LEGO might make for the Matrix movies. 14 hours ago, Legoman123 said: Lego are touching more r-rated things now aren’t they, or at least pushing the boundary’s with some of the things they bring out. It's certainly not out of the realm of possibility! Quote
Murdoch17 Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 There is a verbal reference to LEGO in the new film released today... but not exactly in a way you would expect. Spoilers for exactly when / what: Spoiler A kid apparently has put one up his nose in a blink-and-you-miss-it statement by the main characters near-ish the beginning in one of the Simulatte Cafe scenes. Makes you wonder why LEGO would release this photo yesterday, and the brand is sort-of talked about in the film released today. Can this be a coincidence, or am I going crazy? Oh, wait I forgot we don't say that word here. Quote
