evanevanevan Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 I kind of want to make my own Hermione and Ron for an Epilogue display, but the Cursed Child play versions! And Scorpius and Draco too. Would add some nice variance to the movie-focused display of all my other sets. Jl.bricks on Instagram has posted some great options to make the movie versions with real LEGO elements. Quote

I’m trying to do the same, for hermione i’m thinking of using the Emilia Earhart face, with the brown ponytail from mafalda/hermione from the ministry of magic set. For the torso i’m a bit torned between the Tina Goldstein one or the new one from the office’s pam beesley. for ron, i was planing to reuse the arthur face, with the same hairpiece that JL bricks used, and probably the reacher torso, from the new city school set 60329 will try to assemble those during the weekend, if anybody has any ideas please share :) Quote

CMF is best way to do that I think. I agree that you probably need two new molds for the oversized top hats with both long and short(er) hair, as well as an omnioculars mold, but the bowler hat with medium length hair already exists for the Riddler in Batman sets, so that’s just a recolor. A Krum in Bulgarian Quidditch robes would be fun to go with these too. Quote

Craig247 Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Hello! Long time lurker and first time poster. I've got most of the Harry Potter Lego sets from 2018 onwards, and wondered if there’s a good site/page anyone can recommend which matches all the minifigures to the film they’re in, or pictures of the minifigures alongside a still from the movie that matches the outfit? I feel like I’ve seen a link to something like that much earlier in this thread, but can’t find it now. Any help would be much appreciated! Quote

The best example I've seen anywhere is our @deskp 's flickr that pairs the minifigs with pictures from the movies. I'll try to dig up a link unless anyone else has it ready to hand? *nudge nudge* deskp? Found 'em! And Harry, I think they just need to re-release an updated version of Harry from the second task, although the old one is still very good, but a new one is always good. Quote

I really want Hermione's red dress from Bill & Fleur's wedding. I find I can't recall what the boys were wearing in the scene, so they presumably matter less, but that dress was the only time EW looked good in her formal wear in the films, something of an accomplishment considering the attractiveness of the actress. (Implied gripe about pink =/= periwinkle, and the costumers' near universal and frankly somewhat insulting vision of Hermione's over-fondness of pink.) They did a nice rendering of the dress in the years 5-7 video game I wouldn't mind seeing in an actual fig form. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Ok, I see some of the points regarding a third CMF series you guys have raised, e.g., the increased mould budget (even though recent sets have introduced great new moulds too, such as Pince’s hat or Kreacher’s head, but I digress) However, with that reduced roster of 12, it would only make sense if they get rid of the usual Neville, Dumbledore, and Luna variants. Otherwise, half of the spots would already be filled Also, whether I even want a third series in the first place will depend on if they’ll continue with the same ratio between numbered and licensed series as this year or return to the previous pattern. As much as I love the HP theme, if there’s going to be only one licensed series a year from now on, I’d prefer them to be based on new licenses such as Looney Tunes or the Muppets, rather than HP which doesn’t really need the CMF treatment anymore Quote
krimimimi Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 (edited) @BrickBob Studpants, I've never believed that Dumbledore Neville and Luna needed to be included from lego's POV. We really have too few data points to say, and I imagine it also depends on what other sets are released that year. All three are included this year in sets that aren't anywhere near the top of the price range (even excluding the D2C). While I appreciate that I'm probably not representative of the average lego consumer - although I wonder what their purchasing profile looks like - I do buy sets outside the HP theme. Since the reboot, I've shifted most of my purchases to the theme however, spending more in total, but simultaneously on fewer themes overall. What I can say is I presently own none of the Looney Tunes or Muppets CMF, despite a general fondness for both properties, because I can't collect everything under the sun (where would I put it?), and I consider them (with the exception of Waldorf's suit , cheers guys) less useful for my MOCs than many other figs. On the other hand I own multiples of all the HP CMFs and also of many of the set figs, even some that are more difficult to squish multiples of into builds, like Dumbledore. But mixing and matching parts means his robes reappear with Fleur's head in a "portrait", her dress is on a mannequin in Madam Malkin's, Dumbledore's beard obscures much of Godric's robes in yet another portrait, and they'll eventually populate my DA when it's more fleshed out. I have to wonder if lego see the same effect on purchases with the Muppets or Looney Tunes? What do you do with multiples of the Tasmanian Devil? Edited August 13, 2022 by krimimimi Quote
Balrogofmorgoth Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 @krimimimi That version of Vernon Dursley doesn’t exist…in the set he has that sweater reused from the City sets, not the brown suit Quote
PotterBlocks Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Anyone else think the train conductor looks a shade darker than the other figures? Think he might be the new warm tan skin tone like Cassian Andor in 75338. been wanting that to show up in more sets/figures Quote
Seaber Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 That's a good point about the 'army building' quality the HP series have had. Aside from perhaps the Toy Story Alien, I don't think there are many other licenced massable figures. The two Harry Potter series have had 8 figures that would be good to have multiples of for students which is very impressive. Just change the head, hair and hands of Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dean, Cho, Neville x2 and Malfoy and they're easily a new character because of the uniforms. HP has had some great new molds in the sets but I think there are some great new accessories, hair pieces and hats that a new CMF would benefit from. It seemed like the two HP series sold way better than other licenced minifigure themes, at least in my local stores. There is still so much potential with so many variants for many characters (each Dursley has at least 10 for example) but not all will make it to sets. Some are far too obscure for a minifigure, but it seems a shame we have had 3 versions of Azkaban Sirius, and no Rita. Or two versions of Nick and Myrtle and not the other three house ghosts. Still, the fact that we got characters like Madam Pince and Mary Cattermole this year, and we've got multiple variants of characters like Filch and Trelawney is so positive. I have high hopes for more weird and wonderful and unexpected figs in future, CMF of not. Quote

Then someone pointed out it looks kinda like @marcosbessaofficial . Are they on to something there?👀 A: He also has a new skin tone, added to our library of colors to help with our commitments to include more diversity and representation in our sets, as much as we can. Its a slightly darker/warmer shade than the default “Caucasian” tone we’ve had for years. So we just had to create a new head deco for him, cause there were none. It’s a pretty generic bearded face though! :) but so is my own face: generic and bearded! 😂 Quote

karrit Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 I got multiples of Statler & Waldorf Muppet figs just so I could use the legs & torsos to populate my Diagon Alley with some more generic wizards. Probably could actually use their muppet heads for a little more variety too. Quote
