Younger Cho and Cedric variants in the Moments sets. Year 1 Luna in the CoS sets. It could well be a CoS Dumbledore's Office with Cho thrown in so that there's another set of Ravenclaw robes. Given she and Luna are the only prominent Ravenclaws, LEGO doesn't have much to work with if they're going for named characters, and Cho is one people recognise. True, but… there was a theme thing going on with the Moments sets (which are by necessity not as screen accurate). And we all know they only included Luna in the Chamber of Secrets set last year to complete the set of new house robes torsos, when they did that back in 2018 for the sweaters we proceeded to not see the Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff ones again until they did an accessory pack in 2020, so I don’t think Cho is meaningless filler here. Seaber Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 I thought MoM as the huge set was unlikely before the reveal, however now it's virtually impossible. Assuming it's not something crazy like the big figures or Hedwig statue, it could really only be Hogwarts or Diagon Alley part 2 now. Grimmauld Place, more of Hogsmeade, Malfoy Manor, Godric's Hollow and the other places we're missing would scarcely hit that price point combined. Hogwarts in minifig scale at that price would likely only be the Great Hall and grand staircase Tower, perhaps with a few other bits attached, but the potential is great. Microfig or nanofig scale would seem very unlikely due to the 2018 model still in production. More of Diagon Alley would be great. Gringotts and Leaky Cauldron would be very likely as the more familiar buildings like Ollivander's and WWW are in the former DA set. I think the Leaky Cauldron and Gringotts together would take about half the set, leaving room for another 3/4 shops. I'd prefer Borgin and Burkes as a stand alone, so would suggest the owl emporium, menagerie and apothecaries to be the most likely. Quote

BacktoBricks Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 If the retailer exclusive is not Gringotts, then I'm swaying more to the D2C being Gringotts because it would make sense to release Gringotts whilst DA is still available. Someone with no interest in buying DA before who buys Gringotts could then be swayed into buying DA. They don't have to be on the market at the same time, and Gringotts could easily stand alone on shelves once DA is retired, but it makes sense to have some overlap for DA sales. Quote
Whovastron Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 what if the retailer exclusive is more Big figs like Harry and Hermione. That was an exclusive here in the uk. Maybe this is Ron and Dobby? Would make the hints of Dobby make sense Quote

Oh good, thank goodness anyway, may thoughts on this wave… This wave sounds fantastic! The Hogwarts extensions do nothing for me build-wise, but will be great minifigure and parts packs for my Hogwarts MOC. Can’t wait to see what’s in them, specifically Dumbledore’s office excites me. The original was lovely set I had as a kid so I’d love a good remake! the shrieking shack! Yes, called it! For the price point I hope we get the Hog’s head aswell. Would be great. Can’t wait to see werewolf Lupin. ministry of magic sounds like a mishmash of 5&7, with I’m happy with. Hoping the Dementors have the new Star Wars hood piece. I really hope the Horntail will be fairly simple to remove from the stand, the previous version was horrific so I hope this can stand in of it! overall a great series. If the last unknown is a play set I hope it’s not Gringots, I’d prefer that as the D2C Quote

Thanks for the heads up. I checked the original wording, and they say the scenery is based on OotP (golden fountain definitely fits) which can be translated incorrectly in this case to 'scene' (instead of the correct but contextually redundant sounding 'set'), perhaps explaining some of the confusion. 30 minutes ago, BacktoBricks said: If the retailer exclusive is not Gringotts, then I'm swaying more to the D2C being Gringotts because it would make sense to release Gringotts whilst DA is still available. It didn't stop them with the Ninjago city sets though, plus DA will have only been on the virtual shelves for two years when this D2C is released, for much of which it was unavailable in parts of the globe. And as a comparison, the nanoscale castle looks to be getting a four year run. I could see them putting a theoretical DA II off for another year, releasing DH Gringotts as a stand alone set next year, and using that to help drive more interest for the DA I and II sets. Plus I still can't see them locking a minifig scale Gringotts behind such a high price tag and potentially cutting out so many fans. Edited February 20, 2022 by krimimimi Quote

I mean it’s not like I care about it as long as it will include some new minifigure variants and the build is decent. Edited February 20, 2022 by Textorix Quote

After all, something must be causing that low piece count/price point discrepancy, and some technic panels, gears, and spring mechanisms could explain part of it. I think that something is more likely to just be the inclusion of a new animal mould for Padfoot and a new mould for Werewolf Lupin (be it just a new head mould to go on a minifig torso and legs or an entire new animal piece). 2 hours ago, krimimimi said: I took your lead and looked at it too. I just can't picture them letting the new SS set get too out of scale with 2021's well-received Hogsmeade sets. Combined with the increased piece count, I think there is a real chance we'll see another small Hogsmeade shop included. (Or that's just wishful thinking, whichever... ) I mean, I think a new design of the Whomping Willow would fit the scene much better, and a shop would probably take up too high a fraction of the piece count. Hiker13 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Even though details and pictures are yet to come, I am well-pleased by this list. 2022 and Lego are still doing Harry Potter. All is well. 😎 Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 I hadn‘t even thought about which movie Dumbledore‘s office could be based on! OotP would make a lot of sense for multiple reasons: OotP is the only film pre-DH without its own Hogwarts expansion yet Cho‘s presence (even though it could be the same situation as with Luna in the CoS last year, as others have pointed out) A rerelease of Gambledore in his blue robes is overdue. This version is still exclusive to CMF S1 As others have said, the three professors included would make a lot of sense, and OotP has many Filch scenes. How about a disgusting alternate facial expression after eating his gift? Quote

How can anyone even think of that. Gringotts building more expansive than entire Diagon Alley D2C, that would be ridiculous. If it is Gringotts, then the set will have 2 extra DA buildings, maybe even 3 depending on how many pieces they will put into Gringotts building and if they include moulded dragon. I just talked about Gringotts as a possibility...i didn' t write that i could be a "single" Gringotts set. I just said it must be a huge Set. Quote

We don't know if Lego will go on with the Icons Sets.Maybe it was just a try how it works and if it's interresting for the collectors. As i said before it's a nice Set but i also would prefer something else. Maybe a big Quidditch stadion, another Microscale Set.... But i also think like the most of you that it could be the Hogwarts Express or Gringotts with other buildings. I am happy whatever we will get. There are already so many cool Sets on that list. Quote
PotDoc Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 (edited) So after waiting a couple of hours to let this information sink in, gonna leave here my thoughts. 76400 Hogwarts carriage with Thestral - Number of parts: 121, 19.99 Euro - This is a set that I thought we would have gotten back in 2020, so it's nice to see it happening now! Not the most exciting one considering we already had a thestral carriage, but it is definitely nice to see the return of the the mold, especially at a more appealing price than the 30 € FB set. The baby thestral, a new variant of Luna, plus the side tree to help the forbidden forrest grow are also very welcome additions. 76401 Hogwarts: Sirius' Rescue - Number of parts: 345, 49.99 Euro - I'm not really sure how to feel about this set... while this is a very iconic scene, and I'm glad we are getting the courtyard fountain, I really don't know what to make out of this Hogwarts section. According to promo bricks, it is a 24 stud section, which means it's the same size as the hospital wing, however it has 160 less pieces than that set, I really don't see how this is gonna work, but look forward to be surprised by lego. I also feel that this is a set with a very poor character selection, I expect harry and Hermione to be the same from the HW set, and I really don't see how they can improve the prisoner Sirius from 2019, so the only different Minifigures would be Ginny. Again strange character selection, just hope that they go all out on her, as all of the 2018-2021 Minifigures of her have been really lackluster (with the exception of the Minifigures series 2 variant) - please lego give her a good face print! I do think that like many have said we could get a fat lady portrait, but I really don't know what the set interior could look like.... just hoping it's not another fluffy encounter type of Hogwarts structure. 76402 Hogwarts: Dumbledore's office - Number of parts: 654, 79.99 Euro - This is a set that I actually thought we would get next year based on Ootp with a 24 stud Dumbledores office on the second floor, and umbrifge’s office, the staircase and filch office on the bottom floor, and Minifigures based on Dumbledore's arrest. While it would be nice for them to finally give Snape and mcgonnagal their black robes mf variant, the thing that I really don't get is this set weird PPR... The 2 previous sets have 2 large molded creatures to justify it but this one doesn't appear to have any.... could we maybe get a molded griffin for the staircase? or perhaps a Fawkes with open wings, to recreate the ootp scene? Just hope that at least we get nice variants of these MF's. 76403 Ministry of Magic - Number of parts: 990, 99.99 Euro - This set is something I've bern waiting for since the 2010 reboot of the theme! while I would love if it was based on DH, I would still buy it if it came with 9 Harry Potter Minifigures hahahaha Day one buy! 76406 Hungarian horntail - Number of parts: 671, 49.99 Euro - Not particularly interested in this set... I had the same reaction with Hedwig and Fawkes, and ended up really liking those sets, however the HH at least to me isn't as iconic as those 2 to justify buying it, however if there's something I learned with this theme is to never say never xD 76407 Shrieking Shack - Number of parts: 777, 89.99 Euro - Still have the old one at home, and another day one purchase! Interested to see what is the minifig choices... Having the same variants of harry and Hermione, in 3 sets the same year, plus 2 sets with the same Sirius and Ron seems very strange... Wouldn't be surprised if this set came with a whomping willow side build for the werewolf vs Grimm fight, and if the Shrieking shack came with the snowball fight of the trio vs Malfoy gang, just to give a little Minifigure variety... Regardless of the minifig outcome, still a day 1 buy. Edited February 20, 2022 by PotDoc Quote
Textorix Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 For me it’s 70% chance for Gringotts DA expansion, 20% for big UCS Hogwarts Express with Hogsmeade Station (still wouldn’t be enough for €470 imo) and 10% chance for something completely different and unexpected. Quote

Buildable objects? We’ve just had those. Microscale build? Nothing iconic enough left. A Hogwarts add-on is pointless considering what’s left is nowhere near as recognisable as what the 2018 set included Brick-built character/creature? The most important human character (Harry) and most iconic creature (Hedwig) already got that treatment last year. Vehicle? Nothing except HE justifies that pricetag, even a Ford Anglia would be a third of that price at max Minifig-scale? Makes the most sense, and the most obvious choice in this category is a DA expansion There aren’t any other categories. It has to be an object, a character, a creature, a vehicle, a microscale build, or a minifig-scaled one. Or do you suggest it’s a physical manifestation of a fuzzy metaphysical concept straight from the hyperuranion? Edited February 20, 2022 by BrickBob Studpants Quote

I remember telling my cousin she would like the CoS wave sets because you got three extra female characters - Hooch, Ginny and McGonagall. Before that, we’d only had Hermione and the Chess Queen (if she counted). 😅 And then I remember another birthday getting the POA wave and my auntie bought me Sirius Black’s escape and my parents got me the Shrieking shack.
