RODDY Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Overall it’s a solid wave, wouldn’t go out of my way and say it’s the best one though, 2020 still wears that crown. Still kinda bummed that there is no Second Task set or Dumstrang Ship yet we’re getting a second Hungarian Horntail. Unpopular opinion, I thought the first one was fine and if it was any bigger, you couldn’t have it perched on Hogwarts without it looking ridiculous. Thestral scene is a good pick and a nice return to the forest/creatures scene started with Aragog. Will definitely pick it up. Hogwarts Dark Tower is not the most exciting pick and even a bit unnecessary, not the most exciting set. I’ll probably pick it up ONLY because Sirius’s Rescue was my first ever Lego set. Dumbledore’s Office: A must have to me. While The Clocktower version was alright for what is was, I’m ready to see this baby fully fleshed out. I think it will a CoS version which was ideal imo and I’m wondering if we might get the hallway painted in blood “Enemies of the heir beware.” Ministry of Magic: Finally seeing the climax of OoTP or at least elements of it with the golden statue and prophecy room. It’s about time we see this scene done in Lego and more dementors are always welcome. Another must have. Shrieking Shack: Now that this set is out, I’ll definitely buy it alongside Hogsmeade should make for a great display. Quote
LegoGuy2002 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 So I guess we will not get a single set based on Secrets of Dumbledore? Quote

sebastian666 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 (edited) I wouldn’t completely rule out Secrets of Dumbledore yet… We still don’t know what the $120 set is and I for one would love a LEGO version of Newt’s Victorian townhome in London with his magical menagerie on the interior. The mooncalves, a kelpie, maybe even a few multicolored nifflers - I think it would sell well. Edited February 20, 2022 by sebastian666 Quote
Darth Shadowthrone Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 I really hope there's at least something for Fantastic Beasts - the omission of those and (maybe) Deathly Hallows is the only problem I have with this list The actual sets we're getting sound great tho - am I the only one amazed that's not remakes of Hagrid's Hut, Hogwarts Express or Quidditch here?! I feel like the Great Hall remake last year made us disproportionately worried about remakes when the Lego designers keep giving us new stuff. I'm most excited for the Ministry of Magic - that's an amazing feature in the Harry Potter attraction here in the UK. As someone who's satisfied with the size of their Hogwarts now I've got the Chamber of Secrets, I'm fine with missing the rest of the other sets tho I would like to see the courtyard in official form and will probably pick up the Thestral set, budget allowing. Retro Brick Reviews Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 According to Promobricks's latest story post, we should be getting a black-robed McGonagall in the Dumbledore's Office set. Quote

To me it just looks like a bird with stubby fat legs and dragon wings. I modified the crap out of mine but I can’t do anything about the bird head mold 4 minutes ago, Retro Brick Reviews said: According to Promobricks's latest story post, we should be getting a black-robed McGonagall in the Dumbledore's Office set. Makes sense if the set is based on OotP. Although it’s not the exact same black outfit she wears in HBP and DH, and I would definitely prefer the latter version. But I’ll take any minifig variants I can get my hands on! Edited February 20, 2022 by Balrogofmorgoth Quote

distantnemesis Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 (edited) The shrieking shack and the Ministry of Magic sound interesting, if these sets came out a few years ago when I was more into Harry Potter I would definitely buy them Edited February 20, 2022 by distantnemesis Quote
MaxHeadroom Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 If I can't get sets based on DH or castle exteriors (my favorite type of set) this wave is the next best thing. Nice to see OOTP finally get its due and it's nice to get the last major POA thing we were missing. As for the ministry figure situation I don't think any option makes much more sense than the rest. DH would go against the gold statue build and LEGO's previous DH avoidance (although the DH scene is probably more tame than the OOTP battle), but the dementors don't make sense anywhere else. In general I don't think we should read too much into Umbrige being there. I could see them throwing her in just to give kids someone to put in one of the offices and she's a far more visually interesting figure than the OOTP minister of magic who would just blend in with the rest of the figures in dark clothes. BrickBob Studpants Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 (edited) I'm really conflicted about the MoM's minifig selection, the more I think about it. There are three options in my mind: It's purely based on OotP: the "Dementors" are Death Eaters, "Lucius" really is Lucius, Umbridge is in her Wizengamot attire and the mystery figure is Tonks It's purely based on DH: the dementors really are just that, "Lucius" is Yaxley, Umbridge is her DH version (perhaps with printed locket) and the mystery figure could be Scabior or Thicknesse It's a mix of both I have no idea which is preferable. What I want the most are Tonks, Death Eaters, and Yaxley, but those rule each other out Edited February 20, 2022 by BrickBob Studpants Quote

I mean, rewatch the GoF scene where Dumbledore, McGonagall, and Snape discuss Harry’s entrance into the tournament. The lighting sucks so it’s hard to tell, but it looks like that outfit has a lot of black as well. And the picture promobricks used was from DH2 so they’re not giving much away. Quote

They also wrote 'that's actually a 2in1' so I'm wondering if in addition to indicating McGonagall's robes are going to be black they're hinting at a DH2 scene? Not sure how that would fit in to the Dumbledore's office scenario, but coincidentally she, Snape and Dumbledore are the three Headmasters/mistress during the course of the story. The castle never recognised Umbridge as Headmistress, so it probably doesn't matter that she isn't in the set. @BrickFunatic I agree that I'm a little disappointed not to get Umbridge's office (at Hogwarts). 1 hour ago, Darth Shadowthrone said: The actual sets we're getting sound great tho - am I the only one amazed that's not remakes of Hagrid's Hut, Hogwarts Express or Quidditch here?! I feel like the Great Hall remake last year made us disproportionately worried about remakes when the Lego designers keep giving us new stuff. I can't believe we didn't get a Knight Bus or yet another Anglia. After they gave us two Fords in such short order in the last series (instead of Hagrid's motorbike), I was sure they'd go to that well again, but no. Very pleasantly surprised. Letting go of a rigid 'sets from which movie appear when' format lets them adjust the product cycles more organically. So they could give us the KB next year or the year after, and not have to wait three just because they're not reissuing it this year. That's such an improvement. Quote
1234567892022 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 I know a lot of people don't want this, but I really want a Quidditch set to get Lee Jordan and Angelina Johnson. My young cousin has only just got into HP and is disappointed the last one is discontinued. Quote

Maybe that’s the mystery figure, but it really would be weird not to have her, especially considering it’s her first time interacting with the trio and she’s kind of the central figure. Quote

While it would make the most sense to have Bellatrix if it's OotP based, LEGO still does like to shy away from including too many figures from the "less kid-friendly scenes," so I could see them avoiding her to keep it away from focus on Sirius' death. Since seeing it in the microfig Hogwarts set, I do want her office. (Plates with cat prints on them would be so cute!) Surprised by the lack of excitement of Sirius’ Escape from the Dark Tower because I am so stoked. But I realized, POA is my favorite and the scene where they save Sirius has gorgeous music (I even bought the high priced expansion soundtrack to get the track). SO, that is why I am so stoked about getting the Dark Tower. Quote
