Rumours are that two release dates exist (May/June in LEGO stores/s@h and August at selected retailers), which suggests it’s a D2C set :classic:

He means the literal meaning of D2C (Direct to Consumer) which if other retailers are selling means it isn't a D2C but D2C was co-opted to mean BIG/expensive/adult/Lego + selected retailers set a while ago now

Every D2C set is sold by selected retailers after a while (usually 3 months). They’re only timed exclusives

The Sanctum should be a D2C set...

Then there's the $300 Hulkbuster, and the $500 Unknown.

The fact 3rd party retailers have it listed tells you it isn’t Direct to Consumer”. Same release plan as the Benetar.

We aren't getting a $300 DC set. At best we're getting a '66 Batmobile in November but even that I'm skeptical on. As I've said prior in the thread, they've already re-used a set from a few years ago, and I don't think the '66 Batmobile is particularly popular among anyone outside hardcore Batman fans and people who grew up with the show. I suspect the latter, if not both of those demographics, are too small to target for a $200+ set. Batman '89 is one thing, Batman '66 is a who other world.

We got a ‘66 Batmobile because when the ‘66 Batcave came out everyone was asking LEGO store employees if the Batmobile came on it’s own. It’s iconic and it keeps selling out just like the Tumbler. It could hold sales as a D2C just like the other Bat-vehicles. We got the ‘66 Batmobile in April last year and the Thumbler in October. We’ve had 3 sets in January (I live in the UK) and I am sure we will get a couple more spread over the year.

Are you doubting Promobricks? The $500 set is the only one that has a non-zero chance of being DC, and even that one has been hinted at as being Marvel by other leakers

I don’t remember seeing Promobricks say the $300 is the Hulkbuster. When did they say the $500 is Marvel either?

Too many fan boy Marvel rumours! Nothing's confirmed!

Exactly.

They reported on the Hulkbuster rumour last November: https://www.promobricks.de/riesiger-lego-hulkbuster-erscheint-2022/132809/

They didn’t confirm a price, only that it’s twice the size of the original one, so it has to be either the $300 set or the $500 one. Unless you suggest there’s even more SH D2C sets coming we don’t know of yet

And the $500 one being Marvel has been hinted at multiple times by other leakers

Feel free to believe what you want, but I wouldn’t bet on there being a DC D2C set this year :shrug_oh_well:

I don't understand the point of this discusion?

Okay, let's say that the sanctorum its NOT a D2C? So? We're still not getting any DC sets in any case lmao

Yeah, you‘re right, it doesn‘t really have any bearing on DC, who‘s going home empty-handed either way :laugh_hard:

Still hoping for a handful of sets based on the upcoming films and/or more sets based on previous ones. Last year‘s minifig-scale Tumbler was brilliant, so I‘m still holding out hope for more of that :moar:

Retailers will list such sets on their sites even if they are D2Cs at times. This has happened in the past as well. Usually retailers will get the sets 3 months after the D2C's release, so if the Sanctum is listed as 8/1/22 on their sites ((1/8/22) for y'all in Europe), that means that LEGO will sell it starting around May. The set has been confirmed to be releasing in May/June, alongside of this, giving credence to it being a D2C as well.

I could be completely wrong, but everything lines up well.

It can still be direct to consumer and still be listed on other websites after time. Usually it’s about a 3 month time frame after release. Target has plenty of d2cs up on their site that came on a few months after release

So, how many set numbers are left that could be for DC?

There are five unspecified Super Heroes set numbers for 2022: 76220 (4+, 10€) and 76221 (50€) for August 1st; 76225 and 76226 (both 25€) for September 1st; 76230 (25€), date unspecified.

First reviews for The Batman are excellent

IGN gave it 10/10

Let's pray this will be a massive hit

It will.

I'd argue that no standalone movie has ever had this much hype.

I would love to get a minifigure scale val kilmer batmobile at somepoint since we have, Keaton, bale, affleck and pattinson's

Lego is really taking care of my wallet. Good cos I've been spending a lot on other stuff. No dc sets + messing up the batman sets for me. The sanctum sounds awesome but for 200 USD it has to be excellent for me to consider buying it, cos 200usd is a big ask.

Its tracking for a huge amount,  sequel to be approved,  side shows, and a whole new bat universe.

Can't wait!

Pretty sure it‘s a troll because they posted the exact same thing in the Marvel thread. Already reported them

May I ask you to please edit your previous post, the spoiler is still visible in the quote

I was doing so well avoiding spoilers for this film. I'm going to see it tonight now knowing a massive spoiler. Some people can be such jerks.

Wow. After seeing the movie (which I adored!) I'm still surprised that we got anything from Lego based on it. Doesn't seem like a toyetic film at all. That being said, absolutely picking up the smaller two sets the next time I see them.

Honestly same, I feel that this might be one of the darkest films Lego has done wide release sets for.

I mean, there’s an F bomb in the first fifteen minutes and Selina’s friend is an escort. Not to mention how the film overall felt more like a gritty crime/corruption thriller or murder mystery than a superhero film.

I really enjoyed the film, especially the first 2/3s of it. My interest in 76183 has gone up now, especially because I thought that it cost $100 this whole time when it’s actually only $80.
