He's like batman's crystal meth form. As for the actual one you were talking about.... wow. I might be misremembering but I always thought it was an earlier story that, while dark, wasn't quite so insane. Did the writers just really hate Arsenal? Anyway, I'll add an MBS sanctuary with exclusive Wally West and leave it at that. Do we have any more sets for sure coming this year? I know the $500 one has the potential to be DC, but I don't remember if any sets are left that we KNOW are DC. Quote
bricksbyjim Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 Sooo this thread has gone way off topic. Honestly I'm betting DC/Batman sets will have a revival in the next few years. Warner Bros is probably shifting the movies around as we speak but big stuff coming soon. I mean The Batman 2 will generate hecka hype and new sets. Also the OG Batman wave was in 2005/2006 and I swear to god if Lego doesn't give us a 20th anniversary theme I'll be irate. Think about Harry Potter. They did the anniversary sets and redid old ones. Think of the way they made Hogwarts modular and customizable. That's what the Batcave needs. They could give us a big $100-150 Batcave set with 2 or 3 accompanying sets which add on to it. Anyways I always end my messages with some hope! Lets just be supportive of what DC stuff they do put out so we get more!!!!!!! Positivity People ! Quote

Hey, we’re optimistically discussing totally plausible if imaginary DC sets in the gaping absence of tangible ones. We’ve even covered the evils of convention exclusives. At the moment - at least to me - it beats recycling the hope of more and better sets than we are in all probability not getting. There’s only so much that can be gained from saying the same thing over and over, plus it’s more fun. In seriousness, the Snyderverse has deeply affected the rate of DC sets, be it the fan reactions and toxicity or the studio interference and knee jerk reaction to the success of Marvel. We had a good film in Aquaman and had a set and a tie-in set. Shazam had to be crowbarred into a set with absolutely no logical justification, and a posthumous polybag. At that point the writing was on the wall. The best years since the relaunch have been 2012, 2015, and 2018. By that trend we should have seen a good wave last year, but I can understand why that never happened. Maybe there is one on the horizon, but by the same token Marvel has had a far better yield in the same timeframe. Quote

Idk, Lego seems to be doing very little for the 10th Anniversary of Marvel/Avengers this year (20 years since the original Marvel sets for the original Spider-Man films if you want to count those), so I wouldn't expect much for DC either. Stormfury Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 Few days left until SDCC. May be there, LEGO will give us some light about the 500$ set? P.S. For this price, we can get UCS Arkham Asylum :D Quote

But honestly, considering DC is only getting one set this year, and it’s a 4+ set? And also how little the theme has gotten in general these past few years? If lego doesn’t see a $40 set as profitable they make no sense making a large D2C for said unprofitable theme. I’m almost certain it’s going to Marvel. That said if I was being idealistic and thinking of what DC would get, I would guess the Watchtower before the Hall of Doom for sure. Now while I think the Watchtower is more likely, I would prefer the Titans Tower, and would also gladly welcome the Hall of Doom. But regardless I still think it’s wishful thinking to think it would go to DC. Although, I guess I wouldn’t be mad if it did (unless it‘s another oversized bat vehicle for display with 2 figures). In one episode the villain Dollmaker had a Vader doll in his workshop. It’s not written or confirmed anywhere, but that’s as big a wink as you’re going to get. Quote

Like getting only a +4 and a 500€ set for DC is extremely surreal, but getting 3 +200€ sets for Marvel feels very weird too. Quote

Especially with the Sanctum set maybe it will be DC... or they are going all in for Marvel :( Quote

From what I recall marvel is getting a sub-500 hulkduster and the sanctummy we don't know if the 500 set is DC or marvel. Whilst in general I'd rather it be DC, I'd rather a minifig scale set over a non minifig set ( with a few exceptions) so I'd rather a marvel Asgard or X-Men school over a 2-pack of Adam west batmobile and batcopter. I still think a batcave with Wayne Manor would be possible. Quote

Which is why people think this one could be DC. No confirmation that it's marvel, and if marvel already has 2 $200+ D2Cs coming out, it'd be strange for it to get 3 in 2hy 2022. 1 hour ago, upliftingbricks said: FalconFan1414 said in Marvel thread that all the superhero budget went into the $500 set. Marvel, while not having as many sets as last year, has still had a fair number of sets and multiple D2Cs coming out later this year. Whereas DC had 3 delayed sets, a delayed polybag, and now a $10 4+ set. I know marvel tends to have a bigger budget, but if you look at how much is out/coming out for both themes, it's clear which superhero theme has spent less, and which one hypothetically would have more budget remaining for something big. This was more about the budget for Superheroes in general as marvel and dc are technically both under the superhero line. Superheroes in general is lacking in the total number of sets compared to years pasts so whatever the $500 set ends up being I would suspect that’s where most of the budget went and it to be minifigure based and heavy Quote

Obviously read more into it than you meant. Carrying on that reading more into what you say. Heavy hmmm Does seem strange that the superhero line on both sides of the aisle have lower than usual sets in what is the 10th Anniversary year. You'd think it would have more with gold figures or some collectable. Are superhero fans not as big collectors as Harry Potter and Ninjago in Lego research? That said the $500 set is definitely going to be a DC vs Marvel Mega Battle Set to celebrate the anniversary. Quote
