yorkiejim Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 (edited) What can i say, i was bored thought i'd build a small structure on a snot base. Not bad for my first attempt at SNOT eh? Edited June 22, 2008 by yorkiejim pics waaay tooo huge, please resize Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Oh, my god!!!! This load of 3000x2000 pixle pictures, on one single page, slowed my computer so much down, that the internet hasn´t get a checkback signal. This didn´t happened since the day where *thanks God* a virus invaded my computer, so that I had to delete every data and install everything new, including a better internet explorer. Please make them a bit tinier. Tutorials should be somewhere on this site. To your buildings: Everything looks nice and very detailed. But the white SNOT bricks sucks. They take away the illusion of the scenery. Oh, it would even be more logical, when the Figures are in one of the holes, the made. That means, you don´t need this white SNOTs and you have just to fit the figures foot in one hole. I wish I could do something like that when I would be bored. Quote
yorkiejim Posted June 20, 2008 Author Posted June 20, 2008 (edited) thanks for your comment, this is my first attempt at a snot, sorry about the images (camera's fault) anyway it is noted that the white bricks suck, i actually thought the grey on the first pic sucked too, but its a first try and improvements will be made. BerndDasBrot Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 (edited) sorry about the images (camera's fault) you can find a lot of free software that can resize your pics automaticly... search for "image resizer" or use your imagination. Edited June 20, 2008 by BerndDasBrot Quote
Vaders_son Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Nice attempt at SNOT I'd say. I would like to propose that you let your figs in the sand-SNOTs have their feet inside the sand, that might make it look more authentic For the resizing of pictures, there is a very good little tutorial on EB that shows how to do it with a program everybody has (well most people): MS Paint! It's really easy to do and explained nicely, think it's been done by Yoda or Hinckley, not sure Benny Quote
Adam Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Nice attempt at SNOT I'd say. I would like to propose that you let your figs in the sand-SNOTs have their feet inside the sand, that might make it look more authentic I agree, though the SNOTing is nice. The sand imprints was also a good idea, even if it's sort of out of sync. The small structure looks nice, but is a bit to elevated to me. Overall, good job ! Quote
BlueBard Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Wonderful idea! That way to make steps in sand or snow would be helpfull for next MOCs! Quote
yorkiejim Posted June 20, 2008 Author Posted June 20, 2008 Thanks, i really didn't think anythig of it at the time but it's becoming more and more useful. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Those SNOTs are cool! some colours dont go together too well, but that comes from experience. Also you need to change the resolution on your camera or look at the resizing tuts please. I feel you will get a lot more people looking at your work that way. Cheers ISC Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Good way to cure bordem. Very nice, I like the droid technique. Quote
yorkiejim Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 (edited) Yes i Know some of the colors are off, i have just moved so my old gray and blay are not sorted, i also ran out of tan 1x1s thats why there are gray pieces in the first one. i am stil sorting peices now, and yes i do have Experiance just not in the feild of SNOT, thats why its just practice . EDIT: i just found a way to resize pics so that wont be long. Edited June 21, 2008 by yorkiejim Quote
KimT Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 EDIT: i just found a way to resize pics so that wont be long. Until then I've removed the pics. Preferred size is 640 x 480. KimT Quote
KimT Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Nicely done. I've never worked with the SNOT technique myself and this looks like a job well done. What puzzles me is; how is this SW related? Throwing in a few minifigs does not necessarily make it a SW SNOT MOC, does it? Also firing up the thread with the comment on "I was bored" doesn't really help me like it more Nevertheless it looks like You're in for some more SNOT building. KimT Quote

I don't know about the guy in the first pic's and the building's starwarsiness either, but at least the R2 rolling through the sand made this very scene from ANH pop up in my mind immediately (and made me smile thinking of R2s and 3POs quarrel about directions ). So I'd say there's some SW in it Quote

So I'd say there's some SW in it Ive been thinking of encorperating these little SNOT footprint techniques into a small midnette of that scene. i have been having problems sorting my old grey and bley peices apart from each other as of late (poor lighting in my work area) so i dont really know weather or not ive chucked an old gray part into a bley structure (it really pisses me off). as ive said before this is my first venture into SNOT and improvments will be made, i just wanted to see what you guys think. Tom_castlefan Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Definitely not bad for your first SNOT attempt, and a wonderful eye for detail. I love the prints left by the droid and soldier. Tom Quote
