Wow those errors... Thankfully the instructions are made so toddlers can understand them, but all these errors in a premium €400 flagship set is embarrassing.

I seem to recall another major release having an error in the orders of the gears but I can't remember which one.  Was it the Porsche?  Then LEGO claimed they did it on purpose to make a bigger difference between gears.

Sorry! Erm....yeah I gotta hand it to Lego, the book has proven very popular, probably more popular than Lego thought, so hopefully there will be a second run "due to popular demand". Or maybe an E-book made available?

It doesn't make a lot of sense to make a book in such a limited quantity unless it was a requirement from Ferrari.  They like their products to be limited and therefore demand inflated prices.  Just a thought.

I actually just want to read the book; I don't necessarily need to own a copy permanently.  Hopefully there will be a way for me to borrow one or see a PDF or something.

Maybe they will put a pdf version online for those who buy the car.

Glad to see you around these parts again @Blakbird. Hope you are well.

Like you, I just would like to peruse the book, and pass it along to the next reader. I wonder if my local library will get a copy....

I mean it is a "limited slipcase edition" which probably means there will be more of this book in the future, just without the slipcase!

My set and book says it's in warehouse, so i hope i get it. I don't want to sell the book right away, i actually wanna read it, believe it or not...

I hope i didn't jinx myself with saying that it's in warehouse *huh*

It was indeed the Porsche. Besides design flaws like the paddle shifters (didn’t work properly) that’s the only real error I can remember.

Welcome back btw

We have a designer video! Unfortunately Uwe does not talk in it, but they at least added the 2 small panel fairings to the model at the beginning :head_back: But the naked axles are still visible on the technical drawing...

Some nice and interesting camera shot in that video. Makes me look forward to getting my hands on it even more!

But you have to love those axles just sitting there in the drawings. I do hope someone at Lego is holding their head in shame over that mistake.

I'm tempted to buy this, I skipped the Sian but have the Bughatti..this is distinct enough that I could justify the purchase.

But I'm still concerned about the stability of the suspension and wheel connections.  Has anyone built this and can comment on whether the approach is robust?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seeps LEGO just announced price increases on most of their sets. In August, the Ferrari Daytona will be changed to $450 USD, yikes!

  Not angry anymore about set prices, lack of quality, etc. but I admit I am saddened.  I always really enjoyed a large set or two each year.  Something about opening it, building, etc.

*sigh*   I am afraid my days of buying and  building official sets are over.   I may get one here or there, but it has been years since I bought and built one, and looks like this year may be the same.  I will still MOC with the collection I have, but buying official sets is making less and less sense to me with each passing year.

I understood that too. Mostly large piece count sets, aimed at adults (which makes sense since that is where the money is ?), so the Ferrari might be part of that.
If I do some fast math, it might increase the price of the Daytona with maybe up to $52 here in the US, and that’s BEFORE taxes.
So $399 will turn into $451, plus 8% tax here in California,… so now we’re up to a set of just shy of $500…

Wow, just… wow 😮

I was going to think about this one for a while, if I would buy it. I still can but I have to decide before August I guess ?…

My book is still showing in the warehouse, but I'm not too surprised as it's bank holiday here in UK.

For those that missed the book, it is possible to try to win it with VIP points. It's the books numbered 1 to 5.

50 VIP points per entry.

Aparently my book got shipped, but without the car set yet.

Do you have tracking on the order? I am quite suprised that the book was shipped from Czech Republic. All my previous orders were shipped from Belgium warehouse. Maybe thats why they split it.

My local authorized Lego distributor is only since today listing the set as available and not on pre-order and no mention of the book. Guess it's just on lego . com where it sold out in mere minutes.

At this point, and remembering what happened with the Osprey, any "limited edition" run is simply going to fuel online scalping. There really needs to be a better way to achieve the desired "exclusivity" without creating these market distortions.

That was not a limited edition though, but a cancelled set where most were recalled and only a few got out to the open market - which naturally makes it highly desirable among collectors. But yeah, limited editions generally suck, I avoid buying anything that's labelled as such.

The "first edition" McLaren supercars were already going on ebay for way too much money after the announcement of a second version, even though I have yet to see anyone share their second version actually built. People will go crazy when they think they see a quick buck.

I wonder how many of these inflated price items actually sell. I have a Craigslist alert for LEGO and the same high priced sets keep coming through each month. People often quote the listing price, but rarely the 'sold' price. Seeing actual sold prices on Bricklink is nice for that, and it's generally a chunk lower than listings on Amazon or eBay.

Wow. Two sellers on Bricklink with the book. One for $300 and one for $400….  Very sad that this happens again.  😔

As we say in my mother tongue: an item is worth whatever the fool will pay for it....
