LvdH Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 (edited) So the only basis for that speculation is that the real Cybertruck got delayed to 2023? So did the Tesla Roadster and the McLaren Arthura, those are far more likely and I still don’t think those will be it. There is so much more being delayed for various reasons. Just wait for anything official or news from trusted sources, or we’d be speculating for eternity. Edited January 18, 2022 by LvdH Quote

Indeed, the car sets are really boring and repetitive due to them all having basically the same set of functions, with smaller ones just omitting some. Electric car in 1:8 would at least have to justify the size by some other, novel functions and of course they could still include a fake engine and drivetrain. Some electric cars also have a gearbox (though nothing as complex as dino-burning cars). Also, sets like the 1:10 Porsche and Ferrari really have no reason to exist in Technic lineup, as they have almost no functions beyond the very basic stuff. They'd even look much better in Creator style. Quote
allanp Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Well, y'all probably already know my thoughts about the HUGE gearboxes (insert the often cried we need more clutch gear sizes and reduced length driving rings to make gearboxes realistic and better in ever way!) Brakes would be very cool. I'd love to see that (done properly, with disks and calipers inside the wheels!). The other functions mentioned however wouldn't make up for lack of engine and transmission. Quote

That takes up nowhere near the real estate of a drivetrain and transmission. Quote

I agree that an electric supercar set could introduce some interesting, new, functions to the lineup, but I'm simply not confident that Lego would bother. After all, how many people are actually buying these sets for the gearbox? For the majority of buyers, it simply looks cool on a shelf, and the gearbox is little more than a conversation piece, and therefore expendable, as other advanced functions would likely be. I could be proved wrong, but I'm pessimistic about an electric supercar being an interesting set. Quote

It would require some of the aforementioned functions for novelty and conversation, while the main selling point would be the looks. I see absolutely no point in repeating the Sian with simply another exterior. If TLG were to introduce additional clutch gears like @allanphas commented numerous times, there might just barely be a reason for another model of dino-powered supercar to exist but even then I'd like to see some novel functionality, like all-wheel steering or adjustable suspension. langko Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 I personally don’t think think an electric car is very well represented in a manual model. Take the Rimac Nevera for example, I’d much rather see a fast RC model powered by BuWizz with some other motorized functions like doors/adjustable suspension/spoiler. The model wouldn’t be nearly the same or as interesting if you did the same in a manual version. I can’t see LEGO getting rid of the moving pistons and the like by going with an electric car. It’s more likely to be based on a hybrid car like the Sian was. 2 hours ago, howitzer said: I see absolutely no point in repeating the Sian with simply another exterior. Enough people will still buy it that that’s probably all they need to do to make enough money of it. 8 hours ago, LvdH said: So the only basis for that speculation is that the real Cybertruck got delayed to 2023? Regardless what it is it definitely won’t please everyone on here anyway Quote
Seasider Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Just seen @kbalage ‘s video. Working in the industry I have to remind people that when covid hit the world lots of work stopped. I know of car programmes being put on hold for quite a few months at many OEMs. Also we know TLG tries to keep these secret and tease / release close to the real cars launch, so if that’s been delayed I can understand why the Technic model would too. It’s a bit different to a film being delayed but still seeing the Lego sets. I don’t mind if it gets delayed and actually I’d prefer if we get alternating years between Bikes and Cars in the Ultimate series. As to what it is … I don’t think we’ll know until we see the teaser. R0Sch Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 I really hope it won't be a LeMans Hypercar because of the many stickers in that case. Could be this LaFerrari successor prototype: Quote

brunojj1 Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Is this LM hypercar on the picture even real? Maybe we will get this instead: I don´t like any of them, there comes nothing after the LaFerrari, and fear the disappointment will be huge since now the expectations are rocketing beyond reason. Then again I´m wondering where all the 3700+ parts will be going, the racecar itself is supposed to be kinda reductionist spartan lightweight. So we have to expect a lot of system parts again, which doesn´t do a favor to a Technic car IMO. Quote

I mean for me the LaFerrari is the peak of automotive engineering & design and nothing will ever beat that, just my opinion - nobody should agree on that . For others it´s the Lamborghini Countach or Ferrari F40 or older nostalgia. This new electric stuff isn´t nearly as exciting as cars were (I´m not talking about electric toys built of plastic bricks). My prediction: the hypercar league will be a flop because a lot of men like me prefer to watch F1 or DTM series and hear the loud sound of a sophisticated combustion engine. Period. The good thing is - the rest of my life is too short to cover all cars from the good old times which I want to "save" . Quote

The F40, McLaren F1, Bugatti Veyron could all lay claim to that title too. And more will in the future. For me, the key is how it compared to other cars of the time. If it is a Ferrari, I hope it's a road car, not a super specialist race car. It will almost certainly be red too, which will look good in the sequence. Would they dare to go yellow? Probably wouldn't work too well next to the Sian if they did. Although I agree with @kbalage in his video saying it would be great to have a different take in the next model. Something else cool that's not gearbox focused, as good as they are. Quote
1gor Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Gentleman, as Batista Farina said beauty is in the eye of beholder, so I chose 250MM Berlinetta by Farina So @brunojj1 I agree completely with your post Quote

I think there is reason for hope, though, since none of the previous 1:8 supercars were race cars, and we seem to have a separate 1:10 race car line on the side, including a Ferrari, so I'm not too worried that this one will be a racer as well. Zerobricks Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 (edited) I'm surprised they are releasing two very similar models - Ferraris so close one to another and maybe even in same colors? Now the real car is probably a hybrid with electric motors for front wheel drive and a third one to assist the ICU engine. I think this would be a good way to motorize the model by having the front wheels driven by a couple of motors while keeping the rear axle with the classical 8+R gerabox - I had the same idea for the AMG One model, but never finished it. I wish to see new updated wheel hub bearings which accept the stronger CV joints and hope the designers used the BMW S 1000 RR's rear shock absorbers for suspension. therealjustin Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 There may be delays but 2022 is the 75th anniversary of Ferrari, so the LaFerrari successor will definitely be unveiled this year. Quote
OnyyX Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Boy I am not disappointed at all, I was rooting for either Koenigsegg and Pagani but Ferrari is still an amazing choice. My #1 top spot would definitely be a Laf but the successor looks to be similar so lets hope. Quote
