msk6003 Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 (edited) So, rotor blade connector is definitely new parts. And 11954 3x11 curved 10 hole in white new 71709 3x7 panel in red new 99013 big rotor blade but yellow tip new 63869 Technic Axle and Pin Connector Perpendicular Triple in white new And I'm not sure but looks like include 3L U-jount in DBG. Looks like 4 function with L-motor - Winch, Rotor, Landing gear and Side door. Edited June 1, 2022 by msk6003 Quote

1gor Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Is it yellow like on Caterpillar (42131) or bright like on transformation vehicle (42140)? Quote
R0Sch Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 (edited) Since the 2HY2022 catalogue from Taiwan is on lego.com, I'll just post the screenshot here for anyone wandering. This beast should have received a full page on it's own. Edited June 1, 2022 by R0Sch Quote

R0Sch Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 (edited) That yellow is 100% the new neon yellow from Transformation Vehicle and City sets. One of the selectors shows a tortoise and hare so similar to ATV a 2 speed gearbox perhaps. Side door is manually operated by pushing that dbg 1x2 thin liftarm. Edited June 1, 2022 by R0Sch Quote
Polarlicht Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Agreed. Must be the new neon yellow. Also blades seem to be dual molded in this yellow and dbg. DBG u-joint is cool, but i hope they strengthend the axle connection to it. Cracking since forever these darn things. Quote
Akbalder Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 What are the functions? - The black 1x2 liftarm could be for a manual function. For the landing gear? - The turtle and the rabbit on the side of the helicopter could be for the speed of blades. Quote
2GodBDGlory Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 I'm trying to wrap my head around how the rotor head is working. It looks like that five-sided part is mounted on a vertical, rotating beam, and there seems to be a bush mounted on that beam to keep the five-sided part from sagging down. It could be that the five-sided part can slide up and down on the beam while being driven, but I can't figure out how it would be controlled, so I'm guessing there must be another bush or something above the five-sider to keep it locked to the beam's height. The beam then would likely be driven from below, but be free to move up and down from there. Perhaps it goes through the center of a turntable, being driven by some square build on the top half of the turntable, and raised and lowered from below, through the center of the turntable. If this whole assembly is lifted, and all those links coming from the rotor blades are attached to something of fixed height at the bottom, we would have a collective pitch control. Of course, leaks did mention having cyclical control as well, and there's no reason it couldn't have it--if those links were attached to some kind of tilting swashplate in the helicopter body, we would end up with both cyclical and collective. I can't say I expect this, though... It'll be interesting to see how close this guessed mechanism is to reality! Quote
Ngoc Nguyen Posted June 1, 2022 Author Posted June 1, 2022 (edited) My first impression is that the proportions look really off. This is the side view of the real H175. The Lego model is cut off in the middle part, has a much steeper front slope, and has a shorter tail, so it looks like it's been crushed at the two ends and becomes stubby. A quick check of reference is the position of the rear wheels. If you draw a line in the middle of the model, in the real Airbus, the rear wheels are above the middle line, while in the lego model they are behind the line. Before the reveal this set is the one I was looking forward the most, but now I have second thoughts about getting this Edited June 1, 2022 by Ngoc Nguyen Quote
zoo Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 (edited) Helicopters is not my area of expertice I'll admit. Comparing the two pictures above I'd say the proportions are close enough that someone with a little interest in these machines should be happy seeing it in the lineup of sets. Then again if functions are far from up to par, I could see one losing interest. Edited June 1, 2022 by zoo Quote
msk6003 Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 No I think not. It looks like normal yellow. If that is neon yellow it will much brighter. Quote

In the real bird, as you posted, the nose slope is rather mild, with steep windshield slope, then back to mild slope above the windshield, more or less the same as the nose. But TLG is fairly uniform. At least from the side view. Though this may not look as bad from different angles. Looks like they tried to mitigate this with the white panels right above the windshield, but I am afraid it really doesn't work. Quote
Richombx Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 If you look at the yellow ram in scrap handler then look at the helicopters tail it’s clear it’s the new neon yellow. Quote
nerdsforprez Posted June 2, 2022 Posted June 2, 2022 I can't unsee the tail of 9396. The colors. I know the real airbus has similar color variants, but bad color choice for this model. Again, can't unsee 9396. Looks like whatever model this is, it mated with 9396. Quote

The set looks pretty nice actually, but a different livery would have made a big difference. Heck, just keep the red and white color scheme. Quote
allanp Posted June 2, 2022 Posted June 2, 2022 I'm still most excited for the heavily rumoured new parts (hopefully a proper swash plate). Can't see that part yet and the upper part is blurred. I am still excited but I admit it looks a bit messy design wise and out of proportion, like the rotor it a bit too far forward and the body is too tall, so the front slopes are too close to the slope of the windscreen. But we always say Technic isn't all about looks right? It's extra height might be a packaging issue. There's gonna be quite a lot of internal mechanics such as the multifunction gearbox, 2 speed gearbox, all the linkages for the (hopefully) included cyclic and collective controls, winch, landing gear and sliding door. There quite a bit more there than some previous flagships so that's probably why they had to make it taller to fit it all in. This model will likely be seriously densely packed with a nice variety of mechanisms, some of them more authentic than what was previously possible so despite its messy look, the more I think about it the more I like it. Ngoc Nguyen Posted June 2, 2022 Author Posted June 2, 2022 This is my WIP for a small scale Airbus H175 as an alternate model of 42113. I think I got better proportions Quote
