January sets are usually on the shelves by December before the review embargoes so this is not unprecedented, although those smaller boxes may be less expected than this one.Â

July 24, 20231 yr I woke up.. saw there was action on this thread and just assumed the review was out… I guess not.  I bet TLG is afraid of the negative reviews from the big YouTubers.Â
July 24, 20231 yr Can someone enlighten me please? I still don't have any clue about having a very close review embargo date to the release date, as I would think the more time between the review and release, the more people could consider buying it despite the possible faults (and price) of the set. Yes, these two can decimate the purchases but if the reviewers' opinions are overall positive, it can also multiply to a certain point.
July 24, 20231 yr Author Im betting that this set is gonna be canceled, and there will be neither hype nor demand surge for it, because this set isn't that good, unlike the Osprey.

I dissagree. I see the hype and it will sell. No way it will be cancelled. Overpriced Zetros is here for around 2 years with a pernament discount. LEGO made some investments Into this one (new molds), this is the main difference from Osprey which was mainly designed from old parts. Edited July 24, 20231 yr by Oh_Hi_Mao

Yes, but they can do the same after milking LR13000 dry. Only reason it might be cancelled is a major design flaw, which I doubt since this set was delayed by one year just to make it right. Edited July 24, 20231 yr by Oh_Hi_Mao

TLG as a multinational company is acting exactly like every other similar company does. There are lots of departments and everyone is only focusing on their own job. One department sets the embargo dates, the other sends out review sets, the third one grants access to beta apps, and sometimes there's a glitch in the matrix, things get messed up and this happens. Believe me, review embargo dates might seem to be super important for us, but it's way less significant from the company's perspective.Â

July 24, 20231 yr I'd be extremely surprised if they recall all those yellow latices, especially since there's one place and one place only that they would fit - a yellow crane. I reckon there's enough hype that it's more efficient to sell and recoup some sunk costs than it is to straight up cancel it. Unless I see some proof all this cancelling talk just seems like coping and getting salty about the price Edited July 24, 20231 yr by Bartybum

Although they also could be reused, it would be difficult for many reasons. One, to include, there are no pinholes, etc... From reading everything....this is all speculation right? It being cancelled? Just want to make sure....

Ngoc Nguyen just betting that it will be cancelled, because he personally don't like what this set is offering for the price. That's all, the puriest speculation :) Edited July 24, 20231 yr by Oh_Hi_Mao
July 24, 20231 yr Not sure about the rest of the Technic fans here, but I for one am not hyped about the reviews because I never buy Technic on day one and am able to make my own purchase decision without the subjective opinion of reviewers. Some sets even receive a design change later in the manual and part list e.g. fixing the bad working engine in the cement mixer truck, not to mention the significant price drops after just a couple of weeks. So it always pays off to be patient. I believe this set will be best bought second hand, as it takes up so much space and will most likely not even end up collecting dust. So expect near new condition for half the retail price at minimun. Besides, some certified shop will most likely post a speed-build before the embargo date anyway. ;)

July 24, 20231 yr It's okay though because now it's a rescue crane! I highly doubt it'll be cancelled, and will probably sell quite well once discount sales start happening. I often think the discount price is actually the real price, but they raise the RRP because they know some people will buy it at the raised price.
July 24, 20231 yr The only reason it could ever be cancelled is indeed a major design flaw, but as said, it's highly unlikely as it's already been delayed a lot - they either would've made sure that the design challenges are straightened out or cancelled it already long ago. And yeah, I think it will sell well enough to recoup the costs and make some profit, but it probably won't become a huge cash cow for TLG. Remains to be seen if it sells well enough that we'll be getting similar very big and expensive sets in the future.
July 24, 20231 yr Perhaps it's a marketing tricks to make other expensive sets more attractive? (Isn't that called the decoy effect?) For example, if you want to sell more double burgers, you put a triple burger on the menu, which you know most people will be ashamed to order, but it's just there to make the double burger seem more reasonable / desirable.Â
July 24, 20231 yr the set is still available for presale with delivery 1.8. Don't think it will be postponed.
