When you said you came out of the dark ages recently, I wasn't thinking that you meant a few years ago...

I bought the SSD last November. That was my first set in probably 20 years.

Or you're fabulously wealthy to amass so much quicker than that!

I wish! I had a huge collection of metal figures that I got in highschool. Got tired of moving it with me over the last 20 years, so sold it for a chunk of change that I ended up sinking into this current addiction. That, and a mis-spent tax return this year...

The only set I think I really overpaid for was the UCS Falcon. I got a couple of really good deals on Craigslist for some large collections at excellent prices. The rest was just watching Ebay/Bricklink for sales/low prices.

I've been thinking about checking out the Ikea display cabinets. There's one that looks like it might hold the UCS Star Destroyer, but I'm not confident of that.

Since the Death Star 10188 in the pictures are on top of the Detolf cabinet, you could display it that way. But you should already have remove glass shelf in the cabinet itself because the Death Star is too high + it would be a really tight fit to close the door because the depth is 14 3/8" while the piece itself is about 16 1/2". All in all it's a nice way of displaying your LEGO but it gives you limitations. I have about 4 of them in a row with all 'movie/ licensed' sets and there have been problems to fit everything in there without looking too messy.

Is there even a 'Show your LEGO collection' thread here on Eurobricks btw? I would love to see how some of us display their stuff.

Nice collection Mhortar!

Here's a quick pic of my current rebel pilots. A few of my pilots are currently MIA, so their not here. I'll have some more pilots after some of my BL orders come in and I go out and get the X-Wing Microfighter and the Snowspeeder.

I was hoping to get a photo taken of the completed display case to show here, but sadly it's taking a very long time to get all the parts to me from Lego. From the parts I have available right now, however, this is going to look great! Tomorrow, a BrickLink order of Celebration Luke Skywalker, General Lando Calrissian, Nute Gunray in the orange robe, Padme with the white battle damaged shirt, and Qui-Gon Jinn with the re-breather. (Bought him before I decided to impulse buy the MTT on Friday).

So I'll have a bunch of characters in need of a display case coming in, and just wish I could get the parts sooner to get the case completed. I think a great feature for BrickLink, if this was even possible, would be to put a bunch of pieces on a wanted list, call the pieces a "custom set", then have BrickLink automatically go through the stores and tell you the cheapest way including shipping, and/or the fewest number of stores, so that you could pick up all the pieces. I might just go and BrickLink another bunch of parts for a display case since I'll need it anyway as more characters are obtained, and likely wind up getting it sooner anyway. Heh.

Original Trilogy.

Correct.

Thanks for the compliments. I started collecting in 1999 when they first came out. I remember how exited i was seeing them advertised in an issue of ToyFare magazine. Then one day i found the first wave at Meijer and had to buy them. I never thought the series would last this long!

I did collect the EPI sets when they first came out, but by EPII I really didn't like the models much and it was getting too expensive, so i sold them off. I've never really be interested in the Technic,Collector, miniature, or model sets... I just like the "System" scale sets since that's what i grew up on.

I think I'm only missing 7264 Imperial Inspection, 7263 Tie Fighter, and 7657 AT-ST.

I'm not sure if i'd count 10131 Tie Collection and 7659 Imperial Landing Craft as OT or EU (Expanded Universe)?

The imperial landing craft was originally an EU vehicle, but it was given some screen time in the remastered version of episode IV, so it's both? Personally I don't think of Tie collection to be anything more that a collection of sets. The Tie D included is and EU vehicle however.

My neighbour, amateur photographer, will come in a fortnight to make some nice shots of my collection so I can finally add something to this great topic :-)

Ooh, I think that is going to be really good. Didn't you once mention that you have every LSW set ever made or something to that effect?

Went and expanded my mini-fig display case to fit the greater number of minifigs I now have. I'm quite fond of the 3PO line-up at the top with a regular C-3PO figure that I have a huge number of, but is slightly modified. I have a ton of them, but can't really photograph the mod. I have a large bottle of this Europium based glow-in-the-dark paint. I dabbed some over the eyes on the model, then with a very fine tipped brush put a dab of black ink for pupils. In the light, it looks fairly normal. After turning the lights off, however, the eyes glow an intense green color which is incredible looking. Best part of all is that it can be easily removed if I ever decide to do that. With so many 3PO figs in my collection I don't see myself doing that.

Anyway, the 3PO line includes C-3PO, K-3PO, R-3PO, TC-4, and TC-14. The highest cost minifigs for me were TC-14 and the Chrome Stormtrooper. The Chrome StormTrooper is incredible looking. If only I could find the "chrome" Darth Vader for a price that isn't obsurd.

I've attached the LDD file to my post here in case anybody else would like to build this case. It is large, and as I found out when I BL'd and PaB'd from the S@H site, fairly expensive. Still, it came out looking great and is VERY sturdy. Feel free to use this however you would like. I'm thinking that I'm going to need to go and spend some cash to build me another one soon.
