ZCerberus Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 (edited) Tired of those pesky Jellies always stealing your crystals? Is the "Claw Tank" simply not protecting your interests on the ground? Then consider the Command & Conquer inspired M1-ZC3 Mammoth Tank! Armed with twin howitzer cannons, a laser machine cannon, independent twin anti-aircraft guns with gunner, and an anti-mine and anti-obstacle flail the Mammoth Tank is the vehicle of choice for fending off alien attacks! l l l The Mammoth tank doubles as a troop transporter and is equipped with the new M2-ZC00 MRAMU (Mobile Recon Assault and Mining Unit) armed with twin surface to air missiles and mining equipment storage compartment. l l l In addition to the crew of 4, the Mammoth tank can also transport a squad of assault and recon troops! Designer Notes: I tried to design this tank to be as much like the Lego® Mars Mission theme as possible, though the number of bricks and "realistic" weapons would ensure this thing would never make it as an official Lego concept. As a result of this intent I included some stickers, some trans orange elements, trans-blue weapon tips, an alien holder chamber as well as keeping a few mining tools to keep with the theme. I guess there are other Lego sets that aren't exactly mine intensive in the Mars Mission line (i.e. the claw tank and trike) but this thing is still somewhat outside the scope of theme even though I made the tank's engine use crystals and added some mining equipment to the MRAMU. Some other features of the Mammoth Tank include a working suspension on each track, independently elevating cannons, a spot light, swiveling AA guns and opening compartments! l l l l l l l l Edit: Got the thumb links working now... wonder what was going on!?! VBBN Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 ........ Woah is an awesome moc! Can't wait for more pics! *()*, VBBN Quote
Dovchenko Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 (edited) That thing not only looks deadly, but it feels like a work of art. Lots of guns, bombs and good ideas here; I'm just loving your incredible designs and art styles. Edited June 23, 2008 by Dovchenko Quote
Fonchezzz Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Id like a better picture of that gun that they have. I have never seen it before. Quote
Siegfried Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 That's huge! Has the "Mission" changed from mining to war? For some reason I can't post thumbnail links... admins... wassup with that! Are you blaming us for your large pictures? What do you normally do? Stuff like this? Quote
Algernon Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 It looks great as a tank, but I've gotta say that it doesn't fit Mars Mission at all. If you dropped the MM title, as a stand-alone tank that thing is a beast. Quote

Stuff like this? No... not the large pics per se... normally I do some large images and then some thumbnail links to the larger ones... it wasn't working earlier today for some reason, but it is working now... it was weird, but I got it locked in. Check out the first post for the updated links. Edited June 23, 2008 by ZCerberus Quote
Adam Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 That's awesome, ZCerberus! That is positively the best Mars Mission MOC I've ever seen! I like the fact that the Astros finally have actual weapons. Aliens beware... Really great job  ! Quote
cartoondude Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I feel bad for any jellies that come across this Monster. :skull: Do you think if you grind them to a pulpwith the mammoth and put them back together They will be able to move there limbs? Quote
Shoc Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 (edited) Waagh! I don't really like tanks, but that's a very nice creation... It doesn't need the guns though, it will simply run over all the aliens! :skull: Edited June 23, 2008 by Shoc Quote
AgentRick Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 In addition to the crew of 4, the Mammoth tank can also transport a squad of assault and recon troops! How would a pistol work on Mars? Quote

Zarkan Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Amazing! This is one of the most impressive Space Moc's that I've seen in a while, and I love that it almost looks like a real set! Although, this MOC may have officially stated your opinion on the overal message of the whole Mars Mission theme. It doesn't need the guns though, it will simply run over all the aliens! What about the Alien fighter jets? Squashing jellies is good and all, but you also need some firepower to reduce those pesky flying ships to burning hulks of charred organic material. Quote
The Rancor Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 OMG!!! You shoudl work for the Lego company Quote
ZCerberus Posted June 23, 2008 Author Posted June 23, 2008 How would a pistol work on Mars? Well first of all it is clearly a laser pistol (lol) and why wouldn't it work on mars... lack of Oxygen for the combustion chamber? maybe it is all internal and such... or maybe I just needed to stick something in the guys hands... maybe I should have opted for one of those sweet circular buzz-saws! Quarryman Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 A sweet tank Not too fond of Mars Mission, but this was really nice. All the greebling is very good There's one thing about it that bothers me though, I think the treads are too narrow, a tank of that size should have wider treads. But, I guess the narrow treads can work in Mars' lower gravity. Quote
metalandi Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 ow now THAT'S awesome!! And the best is, it actually looks like it could be a real official set..if just TLG would make something like that someday Quote

But, I guess the narrow treads can work in Mars' lower gravity. I also have considered this. I thought initially I was going to make the tracks double wide, but it just wasn't practical with the pieces I have. Lego also has the larger technic treads like the ones on the reaper, but I don't have any of those. I guess Lego is making a "wide tread" booster pack type thing, so maybe in the future I can move to those! Quote
I Scream Clone Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Such a cool Tank, Jellies beware Accept no inferior products, where do i sign up for the Mars Mission team! Quote
Tacitus Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Wow! You've done the impossible! You've made Mars Mission look cool! Seriously, the tank is great. Quote
ZCerberus Posted June 25, 2008 Author Posted June 25, 2008 Wow! You've done the impossible! You've made Mars Mission look cool! I actually rather like the orange and white! that was my whole reason for choosing MM!! Quote
Capn Frank Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Well first of all it is clearly a laser pistol (lol) LOL! Great work Z! It's like the Lasher Tank and the Apocalypse Tank Combined. I've gotten a few of these mars mission sets. Now making a MOC like this would be a good use for them Quote
