I was recently alerted that one of my photographs was being used, watermarked and photoshopped on AliExpress. The thing is that the ‘building blocks’ supplied/sold will not build my version of the GT2RS as per photograph, Vinkie116’s GT2RS parts list was shown.
In particular my modifications to the headlights and surrounding panels are different. As are other areas front grille intakes, windscreen visor, rear wing, rear deck lid intakes, and infilled areas. All built with 100% genuine LEGO parts from a 42056 set and the rest ordered through Bricklink.
I purchased Vinkie116’s instructions from Rebrickable last year, the photograph may have been lifted from there.

Screen grab of MOC for sale - Vinkie116’s 911 GT2RS shown too.

Multiple colour variations shown, decals removed and additional background added to make image square 😂

Was what you refer to as "your design" in the public domain or shown publicly in some detail before they stole it? I am always confused in that regard; as in my profession, this is a no-go when it comes to profit making or capitalizing. Either you sh*t the f*ck *p and get things into the clear or - well - profit oriented businesses may use your idea, your design, your reasoning - without ever mentioning you. Morally OK? No, zill. Legally OK? Well, yes.

Best regards,

Thorsten

Depending on what exactly has been copied it's definitely not legally ok - in europe, USA,... most western countries ;)

But since it's about companies in china anyway: The consequences are, that you have the choice to either not publish anything anymore and kill most Lego-forums/communities or live with the fact, that companies will copy everything, sell it everywhere and people on youtube and other platforms will present the stolen model/images/... from companies like mouldking as "great insider tip".

Like you said "there is moral and there is money" - that also applies to the customers, and even members in this forum buy such stuff ;).

But I still think, that the quantity is relatively low. There are more totally fine companies and sources for models than ever before, so unless someone is realy trying or has an addiction problem, it should be possible to fulfill all wishes without shady sellers :D

Edit: I'm still loughing and wondering about one seller who added images of some librarians from the US as "staff photo" - and people just don't care and still buy from sites like that xD.

Guys we're wandering here.

We've moved off the relatively safe ground of CaDA, and wandered to MouldKing and now AliExpress and the morals of copying MOCs (which CaDA doesn't do).

Let's stay on track, eh? We're already stretching Admin's good grace by having this thread at all.

@Jim I'd invite a clean-up, if you're willing to get involved.

I also ordered the red Cada 4x4 Jeep on Bluebrixx. It was about 140 euros there. Would be a 400 euro set if it was Lego:laugh:

Might do an offroad competition Cada jeep vs MK G700

Well sticking with CaDA it can be argued that they still do things that are morally wrong... even if they are one of the ‘nice guys’ when it comes to knock off brands.

I think the takeaway point here is that money is one of the biggest corrupters of morals. Companies will put morals to the side to make money, and consumers will put morals to the side to save money.

Oh crap ...

I googled CaDA - hit a topmost entry and was on BB/CaDA. As BB is a no-go here - I swiftly closed my eyes and tried to hit the back button - just to find out I wasn't back in Google land, but in MK universe on the BB website. Had both eyes wide open - then I just closed my laptop. That causes hibernation. Hmmm - opening the lid again (just one eye open, I swear!) and IT reappeared. Closed the browser ... and reinstalled Windows.

Windows 98, to be sure this won't happen again:pir-laugh:

Surf safely,

@ToastieI ordered the Cada 4x4 Jeep on BB. They sell other brands too.

Should be here by friday. I am new to this brand, and already starting with two sets in (yellow italian and red 4x4). Really eager to see what they are like.

Feels great to try some different brands (which shall not be named:innocent:), other than Lego :)

Also, i really like their "Claas" telehandler.

Has anyone got experience with Cada's micromotor? Do you think two of those would be powerful enough to power a small tracked vehicle? I am having space issues

Telahandler is designed by @eric trax and was presented couple of years ago here in EB forum (100% Lego )

Not yet. While I do not know exact specifications of the motor I doubt even two of those will be enough to drive such vehicle. Are not those designed primarily for lights? Here someone said about mounting it on a linear actuator.

You might also like to try brickengine. (It is designed for linear actuators btw.)

I have a bunch. They're definitely powerful given their size. Not sure what 'small' is in your book (like 8047?), but I think they stand a fair chance.

One caveat: they can't be rotated by externally. So your vehicle will drive only by flipping the switch.

Getting the 4x4 Jeep today. Any tips and tricks with this set and/or Cada in general i need to know?

On that one, you should get some metal universal joints for the front wheels. It eats plastic ones.

I think the italian sportscar comes with plastic as well as metal ones... I will try them.

Can these be ordered from like a support shop seperatly as well?

Thanks for that link, looks interesting, I like the ida of half pin mounting points to reduce size, curious how well they hold! Have you tried them? Is it as powerful as an M motor?

The idea of the half pin (from what I can work out) is so you can use it to drive a LA.

No not yet but I hope to soon, they are out of stock at the moment.

Though  this MOC uses one.

from the website:

"Speed: ~ 180 rpm/9V, ~ 280 rpm/12V

Torque: ~ 5.5 N/cm"

I hope this answers your questions.
