Gimmick Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 40 minutes ago, jorgeopesi said: I do not know what CADA is, can anybody explain to me please?. Cada is a brand of the chinese toy company "Double Eagle" (actually a fairly large manufacturer of 'cheaper' RC models). They started to produce "technic like" sets a few years ago. They produce no "clones", but sometimes there products seem "carefully timed" ;D and some parts like the controllers are design-copies eventhough they are not based on infrared xD. The reasons why they are so well known are basically: - no clones - they produce PF compatible electronics with 2.4GHz controller (only digital controls though and the quality was 'meh' - not sure about the current state) - the part quality got better and is now good (besides very few part types) - they coorperate with / hire 'MOC designers' (T-Lego, Eric Trax,...). - they do have official licenses (toyota?, this anime... I forgot the name :D) Whereas the first big models were truly very "MOCish" and also available in rebrickable for example, the newer models cannot be called "MOCs" anymore - it's more like 'contract work'. So it's bascially just a normal Lego-competitor with its own pros and cons :) Quote

They have many unique parts, and even the 2 long pins have a different design, to avoid a exact copy of the lego design. Even lego is using now the flipflop beams, slightly modified, from cada in 11 and 15 modules. Cada doesnt make copys of Lego Sets or mocs and works together with some Moccers to bring their ideas to the market. The quality is quite good, but the friction in the Crossaxle connectors is sometimes a little to low. Thank you, I have to know more about no Lego world... Quote

Certain sets use the official logos and everything, so I'd assume they're licensed, while others go by a non-descript name and don't use logos. Quote

brickphisto Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 CaDA offers sets officially licensed by Citroen, Toyota, Mazda, Humvee, Lotus and Initial D. There are some more licenses coming soon. CaDA's mother company Double Eagle also has cooperations with Land Rover, Jeep, Mercedes-Benz, JCB, Ford and Volvo for their RC products but not for CaDA products yet. So quite a few sets are unlicensed. Quote
Milan Posted February 5, 2022 Author Posted February 5, 2022 Guys, if I may suggest something: we can all make this topic tidy and organized by using a few of the first posts for something important. You can use, for example, first post of @gyenesvi, @efferman, @2GodBDGlory and @LvdH and edit them so their posts carry important information, like an index. And it will be all on the first page, at the top. Thus, Gyenesvi's post can hold, for example, all the new and unique parts, Effe's post can hold all the sets, etc etc... End they can edit their posts later and add new information. Quote

I like those liftarms ending in pins, and the pin with the towball socket also looks interesting. 13 hours ago, brunojj1 said: Then I discovered this part in the mentioned white „BMW“ set – it´s quite nice to have it in order to go the narrow path if needed: Wow, that looks great, I have been wanting this for the new heavy duty CV joint. It looks like it has a 3L axle though, right? a 2L version would be more useful, to make a driven 5L independent suspension possible, like what should have been in the Raptor's front axle.. 5 hours ago, LvdH said: This HUMVEE is officially licensed: I have been looking at that Humvee a while a go, interesting one. I like how the bodywork combines technic panels with system plates to achieve some smooth surfaces on the doors (compare that to the Raptor's doors) and nice curves around the wheels without looking broken and having gaps. I like the styling of CADA panels by the way. Do you know if it's based on an existing Lego MOC? @Milan do you mean me editing my first post continuously when someone posts a new unique part by copying the link to the image for example? (I guess others cannot edit my first post). Edited February 6, 2022 by gyenesvi Quote
2GodBDGlory Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 There sure are a lot of useful parts--those pin-beams would really change building styles, I think! I'd use stuff like that, except that I think there's value in building my serious MOCs with the same palette that other people are willing to use. I've been 3D-printing some interesting custom parts lately (32T gear, different sizes of clutch gears, etc.) and would love to use them in MOCs, but it kind of falls under the same principle. If lots of other people were willing to use non-Lego parts it could gain legitimacy, but it seems like a chicken-egg scenario to me! Also, if that response of mine on the first page would be useful as an index, I'm fine with editing it, if someone provides the material for it! Quote
TechnicRCRacer Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 Using non-LEGO branded parts still gives me the jibblies. I also 3D print custom parts, but there is no way I would put them in my MOCs because nobody else would be able to build them (which is why I should stop using so many rare parts, I am aware). CADA has cool in-house designed parts, but it still doesn’t feel right to me that ~60% of the parts are identical to official LEGO parts. Quote
LvdH Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 9 hours ago, gyenesvi said: Do you know if it's based on an existing Lego MOC? No, it seems like a completely 100% original CaDA design. You can’t build it with LEGO. There are many parts in the model that don’t exist in LEGO, even ignoring the dark tan colored pieces. Quote

If somebody can spot them, please share a picture. At least they will come in a new hypercar of mine this summer (most likely not black!). Yes, they’ve been used in blue in this F1-like car: Quote
dabo Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 I like the fact that some of the sets have the option to skip the motors etc. Something for Lego to learn from. Quote

2GodBDGlory Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 I think if you want your Technic MOC made into a set, CADA is a much better bet than Lego Ideas! That does look like an epic MOC, and would be very cool as a set. How many pieces is it? Quote
