Is there any news about this set?

2 battery boxes and 7 motors? Pretty cool!

I have in mind that the cada long actuators are longer than Lego's, so between that and the very compact micro motors, CADA has an advantage for functionality in this type of model.

The mix of system and technic parts which Lego is always reluctant to do also gives an advantage in looks, if not necessarily in stability.

There is a review of the AMG One from China with all kinds of close ups and details about the build, looks and functions.

Even though it's (rumoured to be) expensive, I still kind of want one... Will see. Any hopes of building this using 100% genuine LEGO can be thrown out the window.

Well, now I want to build it out of LEGO, just to prove you wrong... :pir-tongue: :drunk:

I only see "this video is private".

I'm not surprised if it's impossible with Danish bricks, @brunojj1 takes no prisoners in this regard. Why limit yourself to the options with what parts one brick maker will give you, if the other gives you more?

Noticed it this morning. I’m guessing some embargo date was violated.

I understand how confusing this is, but please wait for the official press release from CaDA and AMG! It will come very soon and you won´t miss it.

240$ is good Price for this masterpiece.

It´s not expensive, but I´m not sure about 240 bucks without discountings at the launch. Considering that Mercedes-AMG has some saying in the pricing policy, the licensing costs for the AMG and Michelin branding, countless changes in the moulds for EU/US compliance, specific parts which come only with this set such as wheels / aero fins / printed parts and the electronics, it´s still not expensive! It will NOT cost 450 bucks, but way less than that. It also depends on the country and the actual currency. I´ve heard in Germany it will cost 279,00 EUR because 279 real cars have been produced, but I could be wrong here too.

I would not recommend to try, because you cannot replicate the aero fins. The mudguard pieces have been designed from scratch (my initial design), they are different too. There is nothing wrong with changing some attitudes and try another recommended brand which is perfectly compatible to your Lego stock / collection, in my humble but certain opinion. You could buy a second ONE for the parts, mix it into your library and build something wonderfull of your own dreams :classic:. Also I´d be very happy to see any B-model one day, especially from You :moar:!

Aha how delicious, now I have TWO people to prove wrong! :drunk:

Hehe I'm just joking around :pir-tongue: Anyway I'm eagerly awaiting presentations and reviews!

If you fly by my home, you can pick up the aero fins or even a complete CaDA set (in a month or two), so there would be one reason more or less not to do it :pir-thumb:...

Damn they should do a run of more exclusive cars, they'll be even cheaper

The Project One is probably a losing trade for the company in short term. The car costs "only" 2.700.000 EUR + taxes. AMG most likely has invested more money into homologation, compliance with emission standards etc. than they got in return. I doubt they get any profit e.g. in the F1 business at all. It´s more about prestige, marketing and image building, so the "Otto normals" buy more of the Black Series and such.

This store is a FAKE and the owners will face legal consequenses soon!

looks like it is out of stock at the moment.  But the listing price looks like it was 166$.  Sites that list a deal too good to be true usually are just that... buyer beware...

In case you guys are super excited about the AMG set, I recommend you to go bilibili.com and just search CADA AMG one. There are already many reviews about this set, though they are all in Chinese.

I noticed they sacrifice the gearbox for the launch control function. It is indeed a very creative mechanism and I also believe it is hard to replicate with LEGO bricks.

Guys and girls... I'm excited to share with you that I'm at the front of the queue for @brunojj1's latest Master set, the AMG One.

https://decadastore.com/ has kindly offered to send me a review copy, all they ask is that I post my honest review (naturally, my opinions will be fully unfiltered) for you fine folk here at EB.

So in preparation... What do you all want to know?

I'm already planning to take lots of pictures of the pieces which differ from Lego. I expect there will be a lot of those, much more than in previous CADA sets.

Can anyone think up a test rig to scientifically quantify whether the friction of some pieces like 2L axles and axle-pins has been improved from before / whether it is now up to Lego standards? I'm thinking something like hang a weight from the part, but IDK if it's a repeatable test or how to line it up.

I think I know the answer but it doesn't hurt to ask... @Jim would I be allowed to create a specific thread for that? Or do you prefer it be kept within the general CADA thread? Absolutely fine either way: it's your ball and I'm just playing with it :)

Let's stick to this topic for now. Thanks for asking.

Plastic quality and fit of the pins and axles

Once I have the parts in hand I can and will give my opinions on fit, but it would be nice to be able to quantify that. For example, CADA 2L axles hold 30% tighter or looser than Lego (which will always be the benchmark). Just need to dream up a trustworthy or at least justifiable test rig for that.

Plastic quality is harder to measure objectively. Anyone who has built CADA knows for example the 13L arch panels are pretty flimsy. I never minded as it allowed you to treat them as anything from 12 to 14 long without feeling like you were straining the part. IDK if that'll still be the case if they've had to remould them, but I can certainly offer am opinion on it.

I would absolutely expect it to be a more challenging build than a Lego supercar. @brunojj1 is quite clear that he's designing toys for grownups, whereas with Lego an 18+ logo mostly just means it's not intended for play, only display.

Stability of the final is definitely worth a deep dive though. For example, Bruno's red one was very good *except where studs had been pressed into technic holes*. Which I think was more due to tolerances than design, so very valid for a comparison to the market leader.

Wilco :)

Btw I'll be re-reading your old review threads as inspiration, so thanks in advance for those!

The set is labeled as 14+, the level of difficulty is similar to the Italian supercar, far beyond any of the Lego UCS supercars lineup. When I think back when I was that age, owning and building such a thing would mean just everything to me. My 14y old son is a good in playing xbox, piano, soccer, cup stacking, solving Rubik´s cubes etc. But he has simply no interest in building anything from Lego Technic or any set from CaDA of similar degree. He will give up at any point where he would have to find the error, go back and disassemble a section. There is nothing I can do, certainly you can´t force anybody to have fun with plastic bricks, develop endurance, build the set properly, focus on the details, experience the huge reward of accomplishment.

I keep bugging CADA to make better panel. Now they finally did it.

I like the 13L arches, let them be flexible, it doesn´t hurt. They´ve been remolded too recently, among many others, just in order to achieve a more consistent matte surface. Obviously any variation looks better than the original counterpart, without the useless indents. Also I love the distinctive rounded edges on the newer triangular panels of all sizes and they got rid of some useless indents as well.
