I think it'll be a good bit smaller. I don't have the beetle, but it looks like it's about the same size as Prime. Bumblebee, especially G1blebee, should be significantly smaller.

Putting that aside, Bumblebee is $90 in 2024, the beetle was $100 in 2016 ($130 today off inflation alone), and bumblebee'll be much denser than the beetle due to transforming.

The new name gives me a lot more hope than I have any right to expect. Buy Bumblebee, guys!

I'm re-doing my list of the expected characters for the next 5 autobots and decepticons:

Decepticons: Megatron (cybertronian tank), Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave, then either Dirge or Galvatron

Autobots: Grimlock, Arcee, Ratchet, Wheeljack, and then either Elita-1, Prowl, or Sideswipe.

Bumping it up since we got some new info-

25cm tall- It says this scales with Optimus, but taking a ruler to my optimus, I think he's actually a bit taller than he should be? Not that that's an issue- G1 scale was a joke.

Also says it includes a 2x2 yellow tile with "the transformers logo". I assume this is just the autobot symbol on his chest given the yellow background.

Just saw BrickClicker's info in IG (as well)!
Love to hear Bumblebee will be G1, I think I'll probably get this set.

Same- after seeing the ISD and hearing about the X-wing/TIE cooled me on some of the star wars sets, I think bumblebee is now by far my most anticipated set of the summer!

 

Apparently he's a June 1st release now, not July, which is wonderful. We should see the reveal any day now!

Totally agree. HasTak themselves struggle with G1 Bee, with the most recent G1 volkswagen Bee partsforming the roof into a shield. I wonder if they'll even get the rights to the Volkswagen again, or if they'll do something like the new SS86 Bee, which has a more squared top, providing both legal distinction from the beetle and a chest in bot mode close to the G1 cartoon.

I tried a G1 bumblebee last year, and it's one of the few mocs that I've given up on, so I'm interested to see how lego pulls it off.

SS86 keeps trying to lure me from just being a guy who gets the little transformers figs and larger ones if they show up at discount retailers to a full-blown transformers collector, which I have neither the money or space for considering how many lego sets I already get. But the figures look so good!

I agree that SS86 Bee would be ok as the lego version. I don't think it'll be a non-G1 bee, as most leakers seem to agree it is G1 and while we've definitely had leakers be wrong before, I also don't know how a live-action transforming bumblebee would work as an official lego set. I'm sure someone out there's done a MOC somewhere, but with lego's standards for stability and simplicity I just don't see it happening.

Optimus Prime, the LEGO variant, is the latest Transfomers, I have bought, for, atleast 20+ years. Bumblebee, most likely on my to get list too.

There have been quite niceTransfomers, that have been, quite interesting.

I‘m also hoping on a reveal very soon and how they will handle the transformation. 
 

SS-86 brought me back into collecting Transformers as well. At least for the Dinobots. I hope the rumours are true, that we will get a Grimlock rerelease next year.

SS86 is Hasbro's line of Transformers based on the 1986 Transformers movie, which focuses on making the figures as film accurate as possible. I've started watching Transformers reviews and videos, they look like a lot of fun  and it's cool to see how they achieve certain designs and techniques to get the figures to transform while making it look cool in both forms. Haven't bought any yet, but the appeal is definitely there.

Same for me. Lego Optimus was the first time I'd bought a transformer ever, the first transformer I'd had since I was around 5, and the first time I'd so much as thought about the franchise in almost a decade. It was basically a gateway drug for me- I watched the newest show at the time, Netflix's War for Cybertron series, while I was building, which got me into the older shows like Prime and watching ROTB when it released, then got into collecting the non-lego transformer figures.

I think you're talking about '86 grimlock (In which case, I believe the SS86 repack did leak), but I could see Lego Grimlock in a year or two. We need some Cons first, but Grimlock was the second Robosen figure they did, so who knows?

Transformers has two main toylines on shelves right now besides the super gimmicky toys meant for younger kids:

Generations: The current iteration of the line, Legacy, is focused on previous versions of transformers, whether it's G1, other cartoons, or even the comics.

Studio Series: This line is focused on studio-created works, such as the live action movies and the War for Cybertron video game. They recently started SS86, or Studio Series (1986 film), based on, well, the 1986 film. They are by far the best representations of the G1 characters currently available in mainline.

There's also the masterpiece line, which is like the UCS line for lego star wars. Super well-done but expensive figures. Masterpiece might actually be over, it was kind of unclear.

I've got Core Ironhide, and he's so much fun I got a second one during the "Every transformer is at least 30% off" target sale to make into a generic autobot, since the G1 core class skews decepticon.

 

The Deku Tree is a september release, and that was revealed, so Bumblebee could literally be any day now.

I actually have an Optimus Prime and Bumblebee from the game, so I perhaps those are from the Studio Series as well

If you bought them from a retailer in the past few years, they probably are!

IIRC the line's got Optimus, Megatron, Starscream, Sideswipe, a decepticon grunt, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, and Barricade, though I might be missing some- I mainly collect the smallest size class for space reasons and all the WFC game figures are deluxe or voyager size classes.

 

Still waiting on bumblebee to leak... c'mon buddy, where are you? We're only a month out!

My first Transformer, was Optimus Prime, mid 80's. European Takara version? "1984-1985". I didn't see the Movie, but I read and collected the swedish version of Transformers comic. It had mostly the US + some UK comics. My mom bought it.

Grimlock I have in a form that does not transfom.

A red Bumblebee lookalike.

Something with a non transforming outer shell, where the robot is inside and transforms to... something flying.

Piranacon. Sadly Nautilator has 1 pair of legs broken, maybe superglue it? I bought those, until I had all 6. :)

Grimlock might be an "action master"- a weird subline in the late 80s/early 90s where the characters couldn't transform. I believe they did a more recent Grimlock in the R.E.D line, the spiritual successor to action masters (It makes a little more sense for figures who's cartoon models couldn't realistically transform into vehicles in a toy form, such as many of the characters from the show Prime, but not for G1- the SS86 toys prove that transforming, cartoon accurate G1 figs can be done)

That's probably my boy Cliffjumper! Around for decades, but finally out from the shadow of "red Bumblebee" in the most recent comic run by Skybound. The best transformers media... ever? You should 100% check it out.

That'd be a "Pretender", another odd subline after the american part of the cartoon finished. Both sides wore armored, non-transforming shells, with the decepticons looking like monsters and the autobots looking like what were supposed to be armored humans but also look monstrous. (By the way, who are they trying to fool? Who goes, "oh, that's not a transformer, it's a 15ft tall man in an armored suit!"). A quick google shows "sky high" as the helicopter Pretender.

 

 

I keep refreshing the lego leaks page on instagram crossing my fingers. Nothing for Bee yet. The Crafting Table just leaked, a D2C that comes out in august, so Bee really could be any day now.

Yeah, 86 Grimlock I was talking about. His Comic Version looks good as well, but that’s not „my“ Grimlock. 
 
I‘m also hoping for Lego Cons, but these would get difficult, due to having mostly military Altmodes. Soundwave and the Constructicons would a) work and b) have the needed popularity (assuming Lego would stick to G1 as reference).
