Just the blaster is certainly possible, but Optimus came with a lot, most of which weren't on that front-of-the-box image, so I'm hoping we get a couple for Bee as well. Besides his gun, I'd love to see a Spike minifigure, but that might be wishful thinking. Just a blaster because I’m pretty sure that’s the only weapon G1 Bee has. Maybe they’ll include a Jetpack and a block of Energon but I doubt it. Quote
CF Mitch Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 (edited) Better pictures are out! It looks a little better, this way, and I gotta say his alt-mode looks pretty decent Those legs, though :') I'd think Megatron was the obvious choice for a Decepticon, too, but I kinda presumed everything would be G1 and G1 Megatron turns into a gun, which I highly doubt LEGO will want to do, so I guess it'd make sense it they make another version than G1 for him. Not sure if it'd be a tank, though (Cybertronian or not), but what else does he transform into, in other versions? Admittedly, in general I would not be opposed to Cybertronian versions of any character Might Starscream also be a reasonable option? Regards, Mitch Edited June 12, 2024 by CF Mitch Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I like the model a lot! The bee tile behind the windscreen is a really cute addition too Quote
mantax Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 From the new images I think that Bumblebee looks great overall. He does still have some problems with the wheels on the shoulders and some stuff on his back, but that's not really that much of an issue for me since while it's not super accurate to his g1 appearance,he still looks solid(especially in the life style photos). Especially when the alt mode is this great, and it even has opening doors. The transformation appers to be a lot more complex then Optimus, and that's absolutely great for me. Prime was great as a desk toy to just mess around with when I was bored, but this one I think will be much more enjoyable because of the smaller size and the bigger complexity. Now I do see one massive problem with this set. That is the fact that you have to remove the front windshield while transforming. From the back of the box it appers that it's able to be stored on the back, so that's at least a bit better. But either way even with that I think that the set is just great, and I'm definitelly going to get it. Quote
TotoMagnus Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I really do like the result. Sure, his arms are still a bit too beefy, but overall he looks nice in both modes. I do like the little touches, like the Goldbug reference, the Bee and the fact that you can see his small Autobot symbol on the hood, but not on his foot! Quote
Shiva Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Front window is the backpack, right? mantax And there is 2 of a, piece I never seen before, where it connects to the back. Plate, half circle with jumper? Ohh, it been there for 2 years already. Plate, Round 1 x 2 Half with 1 Stud (Jumper). Quote

To my knowledge G1 megatron almost always turns into either a gun or a tank. I think the Cybertronian tank megatron I posted above should be fine- lego's no stranger to sci-fi tanks, after all. But if they're really afraid of that, he often turns into a jet or heli in non-G1 appearances. A jet would be pretty tough, but Transformers Animated (2007) has a relatively G1 megs that turns into a helicopter, so I suppose that's possible. 4 hours ago, mantax said: From the new images I think that Bumblebee looks great overall. I don't like the partsforming, don't like the arms (especially that arm joint- the T-rex arms are just going to be how he looks), but overall it's still a lego bumblebee transformer and it doesn't look overpriced so still a day 1 buy. 3 hours ago, TotoMagnus said: I really do like the result. cosmic Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 Now that the car mode pictures are out, I can safely say he looks much better as a robot. It’ll probably be fun transforming him, but the visible black from the underside, and the blockiness of the door frames are kind of off putting. I know from a technical standpoint, it was bound to happen, but he looks so awkward as a car. Really like his robot mode, though. Quote

I only just noticed that Bee has (at least) two different license plates, one saying Goldbug, the other 'Bumblebee84', a very nice touch I think I'll end up getting it, and maybe mod the chest a bit, to make it look more square. There seems to be some easy opportunity for it, based on some of the pictures. Regards, Mitch Quote
Artanis I Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 Not really sold on the vehicle mode at first glance. Doesn't really look like a Beetle, and certainly not the G1 toy version. Looks like he'll be on the shelf in robot mode after all! Quote
mantax Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 From the official reveal and the in-hand videos I'm more of a fan of the Lego Bumblebee. The Car mode looks just excelent for me(it really shines in the image with the guy holding it in his hands), it's even on the same level as Optimus. It might not be that accurate to G1 but I'm personally just a fan of Transformers as a franchise overall with like all of the different iterations(except for only that one that nobody likes either way). So I only care for him to be just recognisable as G1 Bumblebee enough. The stuff that I'm not a fan of in the model would be the parts-forming and the back pack when you add the front windshield(without it it's totally fine). I even don't think that the legs look bad(maybe in the box art it doesn't look that great, but in-hand it just feels alright). Now I have to say that Prime was just so much better then Bumblebee. With weapon storage that looked great on the vehicle, and no necessary parts-forming, with the only flaws with him being a bit fragile at the waist and neck. So now with it being fully reveald I still have the same opinion of this set as before, that being that it's great(even with some flaws), and I'm definitelly going to get this. Now I do expect that Bumblebee would sell better then Optimus, since the main problem with that set was the price. So from what I saw most TF fans didn't get him mostly because of that, but with Bumblebee being only $90, I actually see this set selling better, and with that we might get more lego transformers. And with that I'd expect that the next Lego transformer would be a Decepticon. While Megatron is the most recognisable, his transformation feels a bit too complex. So I would reather see it being either Soundwave or Starscream, since they don't seem too comlicated. Of course that is if we would actually get more of these. Quote
Takanuinuva Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 Wasn't Bumblebee advertised as not requiring parts forming? Quote

I agree with pretty much all of these statements, especially that Bumblebee should do very well due to the price being lower than Optimus. I agree that a Decepticon is up next- I've been doing a lot of work on a lego Megatron and he's not too hard to make into a transforming tank shape, it's just whether or not Hasbro and lego want to do cybertronian tank megatron. I think it's a 50/50 between him and soundwave. Starscream'll likely be the second or third, I just figure he combines not being the leader with being military tech, so I feel like we likely wouldn't see him until after megatron. 7 hours ago, Takanuinuva said: Wasn't Bumblebee advertised as not requiring parts forming? BrickBob Studpants Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 Soundwave sounds like a good candidate for a Decepticon set since he can double as a buildable object à la the recently released retro radio And an ejectable minion would be a fun play feature! Sounds more up TLG‘s alley compared to a fighter jet or a tank (Cybertronian or not) Quote

Sounds more up TLG‘s alley compared to a fighter jet or a tank (Cybertronian or not) I think we may see soundwave first just because of that ejectable minion functionality (I could see him coming with Laserbeak or Ravage and Frenzy or Rumble, then a casseticon set with the ones not in the soundwave set plus Ratbat and maybe an obscure one, and then a GWP with Buzzsaw and Enemy or something), but I maintain we're totally seeing megatron. Lego has no issue with sci-fi tanks, even if they're not bright colors. 7 hours ago, CF Mitch said: Noted, thanks! From what I saw, that might be the case for Bumblebee, but I'm not too sure. Shiva Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 What if one skips that step? Or would the waist be in the way? Well, front windshield turns into rocket back pack. Quote

CF Mitch Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Has anyone gotten Bumblebee yet? If so, how do you feel about it, now that you have it 'in hand'? I built mine over the weekend, finished this morning and for starters it is a LOT bigger than I anticipated Still fits nicely in my dvd cabinet though, but compared to the regular Transformers toys (which I shouldn't be doing, I know) it's ginormous. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the overall look. There's certain details they got down pat, like his head and face, but the rest is... just out of shape, including his feet I believe. I like how you can replace tiles with the Autobot logo for blank yellows and vice versa. The skinniness of his legs also seems somewhat odd, but it's an understandable occurrence, I think, in order to fit within his alt-mode. The transformation process feels very similar to regular TF's though sadly there is some parts forming, namely the windshield. I do like how it's placed on his back to look kinda like the wings of a bee (or that's how it feels to me, at least) Anyhoo, all in all I'm kind of hoping there will be a G1 Bumblebee in the regular toyline sometime soon Regards, Mitch Quote

Looking forewords to obtaining him, though! That's a pretty reasonable reaction to the figure from what I've seen, and to be fair to lego even some of the more recent bumblebee figures partsform, like the Netflix edition one. For regular transformers, a deluxe class ($25, kinda small but not super small) G1 bee should have either just released or will come out any day now. Look for SS86 Bumblebee. Quote
CF Mitch Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Found it! Thanks, haha. That one robot-mode doesn't look bad at all, but the alt-mode looks nothing like a VW Classic Beetle. I guess that's what you mentioned earlier, with Hasbro kinda stepping away from the Beetle design? (also, I feel kinda blasphemous, talking about non-LEGO toys so much, here ) Regards, Mitch Quote

It's due to them not getting the beetle license. If you're looking for a beetle bee (especially to go with that incredible new Commander Class SS86 Optimus Prime), I'd suggest trying to track down the Netflix Bumblebee. He's pretty rare, so I haven't managed to pick him up, but he's by far the most accurate beetle bee in alt-mode, at the expense of partsforming. Eh, we have a total of two sets to talk about, I think it's fine for us to stray a bit. I look forewords to receiving my bumblebee soon though, it'll let me get started on a Cliffjumper retool. Though it might stay digital-only, I dunno if I have the space for a full cast of these guys. Quote
