Nice idea about modding/moccing Cliffjumper :sweet:

Thanks for the tip for an accurate Beetle Bee. When you say Netflix, though, are you referring to the War For Cybertron trilogy?

Yeah. I'm gonna see how much it'll cost to remake the figure in red, especially since I just picked up the first Skybound/Energon Universe TPB today, and it's not only great but prominently features Cliff.

No problem and yeah, the WFC trilogy guy. Far as I know it's the best Beetle Bee they've done. That said, I've just pre-ordered the SS86 Optimus Prime, so I think I'll probably end up getting the SS86 Bumblebee just for consistency.

Found him, his alt-mode looks excellent indeed!

Glad to see someone else in the thread.

But no. That character was only there because Micheal Bay. She has 0 development (like all the other Bay humans)

Skybound Carly minifigure, though? Now that I could get behind (Or rather, get the figure behind a transformer's gun's trigger)

Actually, you know what? Let's do a (Spoilers for I think issue 3, but anyone vaugely in the orbit of transformers has likely seen the panel revealing it by now. It's already up there with Marvel G1's "all are dead" in terms of iconic panels)

Spoiler

Megatron's Arm

expansion for Optimus with Skybound Sparky, Spike, and Carly. Or just anything Skybound.

Yup, by far the best beetle alt mode. I'm not a partsforming guy, but I really don't think there was a way around it.

Only came here to comment that, I have no interest in car robots

However if a Movie version Optimus Prime and Bumblebee was made I'd buy it, those designs are cool.

They really are!

I have an RotF Optimus Prime somwhere ( :look: ) and I used to have an 70's Camaro Bumblebee, but for some reason I was an idiot and gave it away :cry3: :wall:

Also, what does everyone think of the Transformers: One movie coming up, Transformers-design wise?
The Cybertronian Bumblebee looks neat in alt-mode, but I haven't seen any others properly yet...

Mitch

Fun fact they actually called the 2001 series "Car Robots" in japan.

I mean Camero Bee is iconic, I just don't think they'd be able to transform.

Aside from the too-realistic faces, I love the designs. Orion Pax/Optimus Prime has one of the best Optimus redesigns... ever? Distinct enough from G1 that it's it's own thing, but retaining my favorite carry-overs from the G1 design (color blocking, shoulder pipes, head shape).

Does anyone else who owns the bumblebee set have issues with the grey "mirror" pieces falling off when trying to detach the windshield/jetpack in robot mode? It's super annoying

Yeah, Orion Pax looks great, can't wait to see his transformation (pun unavoidable) into Optimus Prime in the movie.
The faces take some getting used to, though, yeah

I haven't had that issue... sorry to hear you do :sceptic:

How are you pulling it off? It doesn't seem to have any friction on mine. It's only held on by a single stud, and pulling off the jetpack normally means the mirror pieces get stuck on his back

Could it be you have the mirrors placed incorrectly?
Perhaps you could PM some pictures?

With me the bottom of the windshield attaches to the grey center of the spare wheel with the mirror pieces sticking out above...

Same here- from what I've heard, it's not going to be saved until the very end, so I'm excited to see it.

I'd second a request to see some pictures of the issue.

My bumblebee's been delayed until the 27th :/. I need to keep in mind that it's not the set's fault it's taking so long to arrive, because otherwise my opinions on it will not be great.

I have it built to the letter from the instructions, I attach the window pieces to the circular grey "spare tire" part on Bee's back once it is properly folded

 You guys, come on... post pictures if you can get it to work, and post pictures if you can't get it to work. Then everyone can understand what everyone else is on about.

Megatron's Arm

Hey guys, happy to join in on the discussion, I made a skybound addition to the Lego Optimus Prime I think you'll enjoy....

https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-189943/fgsoat67/optimus-prime-going-on-the-offensive-upgrade-megatron-arm-fusion-cannon/ (along with some other decepticon mocs from Skybound as well)

It is $1, but it can do all the things in the comic so far, including be mounted on the top of the cab in truck mode to get that shooting to the rear look when Prime fought Devastator.

Also, I have a feeling the next big set will be Soundwave, given that the promo video for Bumblebee involved a Decepticon message being sent, we have communications now just the officer ,,,

I finally received Bumblebee. Man, he's... he's interesting. He reminds me of a G1 toy, with a pretty compromised bot mode but a really nice vehicle mode.

Don't get me wrong, I really like him, I just feel like there were some weird choices here. I'm going to try and mod it a bit- I think the shoulders and arms just have to be what they are with this transformation scheme, but I think I can get rid of the partsforming and/or the weird hood/behind the head panel.

Clearly a set made with love, though. The stickers are excellent, as are the hidden bees.

The addition of the new piece which Bricklink labels 5652 is definitely set to become a game changer for mech builds going forward, especially when it's counterpart is eventually made and released in sets - would allow for insanely simple mech frame designs and tons of articulation potential. I think it opens the door for the next Transformers figure to be Soundwave, if they continue with the theme, as that piece used for the legs would allow the range of motion needed for the legs to bend around to form the cassette player alt-mode. Hopefully it won't take another two years to get another Transformers figure.

I'm waiting for a bit of a price drop on Bumblebee, definitely tempted to replicate the Cliffjumper version.

Megatron turns into a gun, which I highly doubt LEGO will want to do, so I guess it'd make sense it they make another version than G1 for him. Not sure if it'd be a tank, though (Cybertronian or not), but what else does he transform into, in other versions?

He'd probably need to be a similar size to Optimus, similar articulation, playability. I'd rule out the gun mode, can't see them doing a tank and the jet mode would be a good substitute but it has the issue's I'll cover below... so I would'nt be completely shocked if Megatron ends up being a truck also.

It's difficult to describe but I'd guess the legs would be extended in vehicle mode using the 5652 piece for this, while folding over upon themselves for robot mode. Arms would form the front of the tanker where his head would also be hiding. The main cab section would either simple be facing the opposite way OR it'd flip upsidown with the cab windows forming his waist/belt. His gun would be situated on his back in vehicle mode to replicate the cargo/tank on the back. In essence we'd get Megatron being a tanker truck as opposed to a tank

Starscream'll likely be the second or third

In my mind he's arguably more tricky to do than Megatron. Megatron as long as you give him the G1 robot mode people would probably end up getting him regardless and just not display whatever alt-mode they give him. Starscream is so intrinsically tied to being a jet. Anything with a jet mode would presumably require the alt-mode to be able to handle wooshing. In my view this makes them less likely due to this as they'd need to ensure the alt-mode is extremely secure, otherwise it'd be bombarded with reviews from frustrated parents and children who've had to deal with the set being swooshed only for it to break or lose parts.

Soundwave seems like he'd be the next one and our first Decepticon, the playability can come from the casette transformers, an eject feature and the transformation being a lot more simple than any of the others.

The cassette recorder (forget the name) is absolutely the best pick for a Decepticon. Most recognizable Decepticon after Megatron and Starscream I suspect and looks nothing like any kind of weapon or military anything.

Soundwave was his name.

Do you guys reckon that we could see minifig-scale Transformers in the future? G1 Optimus’s transformation is so simple that I bet they could make a play-scale version.

Or they could always do creator style. (You either build the Robot or the vehicle)

Possible. Though I've tried making a smaller scale transforming Optimus. And the main issue I've run into is hiding the hands in truck mode. And having a decent flip out head.
The larger scale of the current Optimus gives more space to hide robot parts within the truck cab. Plus also being up to Lego's quality of play with sets.
If you go smaller. You run into stability issues.

I ain't a fan of Transformers nor do I know much about it other than Vehicle Robots but I'm curious to know whether Optimus Prime is selling poorly ? I always see it on offer and discount

I'd like 2007 movie versions of Optimus and Bumblebee though
